reynosa (pop 450k) is the largest city in the borderland state of tamaulipas, mexico. it is industrial and since nafta has over 200 maquiladora factories. there are two bridges across the border and they are building another. also, the city was all torn up as they are renovating and improving infrastructure everywhere you turn. you could see if they can keep up the pace in a couple years the main areas of town will be lookin good.

*** adios reynosa ***

Did you use the bus ?

some great pics there.

Colorful place! Even the decrepit places seem to last forever; maybe it's the dry climate.

The public transit looks pretty up-to-date. When I was in Juarez in the 90s, the public buses were ancient, beat-up school buses, all painted a very weathered white with the bumpers streaked with the paint of various cars.

no, i just wandered over there with very little info, except about that pub. so i didnt have any destination in that town. i wanted to go to bullfights and mexican wrestling and stuff and would have used public transit, but it was easter so those events were a no go.

i was in juarez a few yrs ago rob, those same busses are still there. i'll see if i can find a pic or two. i was impressed with reynosa for it's efforts to modernize.
