That is the problem when private equity does a buyout, it sucks everything out of the company saddling it with unreasonable debt and if anything does not go as projected, the company goes under. Cant say this was not expected.

That's a big part of the retail meltdown. A lot of chains that closed in 2015-2018 were private equity plays whose sales really weren't that bad but instead were treated like Heathcliff eating a fish.

I listened to the UC game last night, then came generic programming from I Heart Radio in Los Angeles until Midnight.  What were they talking about?  Where would Florence make landfall.  Yeah, 3 days after the fact.  So they re-ran a generic "podcast" (yes, that's what they called it) from LA that was three days old.

Stick a fork in it.  Once the contracts expire on Cunningham, etc., they're going to turn 700 over completely to generic national programming with the Reds and other local sports sprinkled in.

Cunningham calls meteorologists "weather terrorists" because he's mad we didn't get as much snow as they forecasted.

And WLWT's Chief Meteorologist responds:

Twitter is dancing on Doc Thompson's grave.  He was fired by 700 WLW back in 2012 and looks like he was just fired by Glen Beck recently and was back to just having a local show at a small station in Ft. Worth, TX.  The guy was amazingly condescending when he was on 700 WLW and I recall the other hosts making fun of him after he was fired.

I suspect that a lot of these right wing radio guys hate themselves.  They know they're bad people but being bad is what they're good at and pays big money and makes them minor celebrities.

I was surprised when WLW fired him. He, along with former program director Darryl Parks, was way over the top when it came to the anti-streetcar rhetoric. WLW's bread & butter.  Ironic that it was an Amtrak train that killed him.

"It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton

I'm surprised COAST didn't claim that Doc was "whacked by the streetcar mafia" like they did when Barry Horstmann died.

I listened to 10 minutes of Scott Sloan this morning.  He got on there and completely mischaracterized the so-called Green New Deal.  I recall a link from the Drudge Report to some sort of tea party website that formatted its parody to look like the actual text of a set-in-stone set of policy.

So he was literally reading a parody, not any actual source documentation, but presenting it as fact.  And if you get online and point this stuff out their troll army goes wild.

Political conversation has been banned on the overnight trucking show:

https://radioinsight.com/headlines/192039/wlws-americas-truckin-network-to-refrain-from-political-talk/

For those of you unfamiliar with the show, the Truckin' Bozo used to play music about half of the time and take calls from truck drivers the other half of the time.  At some point the Bozo retired and the current ownership (or maybe previous ownership) banned the playing of music.  At that point the show became alternately a promo for products like Motorkote and then current events/politics.

The current S-Th host is chill but the weekend guy is out of control.  Ridin' The Wave With Dave started on 550 but moved over to 700WLW about 1-2 years ago.  That guy is absolutely out-of-control.  It's a borderline call-to-arms every Friday and Saturday morning from midnight until 5am.
