Thanks folks! Now we just need to get on RiverViewer's case to go record some more videos. :bang2:

This weekend was (well, actually is - I'm still in Hinckley) our last trip for a while, so I should be able to knock some OTR out this month...

  • 3 months later...

UPDATE!  OTR!

I've just finished the Flash business for ten new videos of Over-the-Rhine that RiverViewer recorded three months ago.  Dig it.

Apologies to all for taking that long to finish my side of the deal.  My excuses include school and booze (usually both at the same time).

I must be insane, I thought I had already watched the videos for Race and a couple of the cross streets around Washington Park. Hum....

Excellent as always!

Do you have any plans for any more neighborhoods? I assume some neighborhoods would have too much of a setback to get an interesting video.

The long-term plans would be to get every single road in the entire city, plus Norwood, NKY, Elmwood Place, etc., etc...but it's a pretty involved process, so things will come slowly.  I'd imagine I'll probably fill out Mt. Adams and OTR next, if I had to guess, and then probably work up the hill to CUF/Clifton, and there's so much great stuff in Walnut Hills that I want to document before it's gone...but it'll probably end up being a little-by-little type thing...

Keep up the excellent work!

I saw this a while back but had no idea it was connected to a member of this forum! Keep up the good work!

Now, if you start singing or feature a banana in the shot, I will come after you. We don't want another Carl Rogers here :)

^I have no idea what that means, but I can assure you that singing and bananas are not on the agenda!

Carl Rogers uses the term "Federal Route" rather than "U.S. Route" and calls traffic on them "Federal Traffic", infuriating certain members of the misc.transport.road community.

I don't really understand why "Federal Route" would be infuriating - seems apt enough, I guess - but I'll trust you guys!

Well his continued arrogance is what keeps us enterained really. He wants corrections/comments, but then goes on a tirade when we correct him about things like "Federal Route" when the proper terminology is U.S. Highway/Route, etc. Unlike the videos at Cincinnati Roads, his at Calrog.com are nothing more than him standing at the side of a road saying that "Federal Route 23 is a four-lane highway" before ending. And sometimes he sings, or films completely in the dark and expects us to make out what he wants us to see.

See, what I love about Cincinnati Roads is that you actually get to see the road, get a feel for its surroundings, etc. and all within a nice interactive map. And there isn't commentary about its termini or singing or ... bananas.

BTW, how long did it take you to draw the vector map?

Neat... I think we need some videos on CincinnatiRoads of RiverViewer singing in the dark!

Seicer, I drew that vector map nearly a year ago now, so memory is fuzzy, but I'm sure it took many hours spread over a few days.  It was a simple (if tedious) task, though, just tracing over orthophotos from Google Maps.
