Beautiful pics of the 'City by the Bay'!

Nice work! Judging by your pictures, I'd say San Francisco is probably more pleasant than Dallas?

these are great! but no street or cable cars? you may force me to try and figure out how to post mine from April. It looks like you had good weather, I had nothing but rain.

So THAT's what heaven looks like...  I was always curious.

You're a master of your craft!

Such beautiful photos!  Even when you don't have the nice blue sky (and let's face it, it does usually seem to follow you everywhere), it still ends up being perfect for your shots.

very purdy place!

did you get a chance to get the money shot of the painted ladies?

I saw it but didn't take a photo of it.

Yahoo!  Awesome, awesome, awesome.

is it just me, or is it pretentious to give a cafe an overly french name?

I'd say San Francisco has come the closest of any American city to achieving perfection -- despite anti-urban policies at the federal and state level. It is truly a magical place, though yuppification threatens to rob it of some of its character.

Oh, that and earthquakes. ;)

Too late.  Ex: Oakland, Richmond, Vallejo, San Leadro.

Cincy has some great geographical features (hills, winding river, valleys)...but it bows to San Frans masterful earth forms (bay, mountains, hills, valleys, deliciousness)!!!!

I cant wait until I oneday too get to visit the wonder of San Francisco....The 2nd best place ever (Cincy 1st).

^ha yes!

however, there is an exception -- it's ok if it's actually run by real french people (ie., LE OUI OUI in the oc).

Wow...nothing like a ColDay thread to make you realize how much you need to visit somewhere...

Well, if you are affluent and white, San Francisco is a dream...

Great shots of our nation's prettiest city.  Also, I just saw X-Men III and couldn't get the image of the Golden Gate bridge (designed and built by a U. of Cincinnati grad BTW) being ripped off its foundations out of my head!

Well, if you are affluent and white, San Francisco is a dream...

You aint never lied.  Boston or San Fran I don't know which one is worse!  SF is severly lacking any afrocentric culture!

^That's what Oakland is for.

Nice set.

Tremendous photos of one of America's few cities that is actually visually attractive and can energize one's soul.

Here's my favorite pic -- great layering!

thank you! thank you! and thank you!

my sentiments about it exactly. beautiful to look at and visit, but too precious to live in for me.

but wait it gets even more geetchy than that --- now i am warning you coldayman and columbusite cover your eyes and just peek when you take a look at this sf bay news link from just today:

It's not a surprise.  Oakland is in a desirable location, is cheaper than SF, and has rapid transit.  Thus, it's the next to "gentrify."  Black folks will be living out in Antioch and Dublin pretty soon. Hell, Vallejo and Fairfield already have large black populations.

"Valley Joe"  had a large black population in the 1980s already...thats been there for some time.

Afrocentric SF used to be the Fillmore....

no way is it a surprise, but it is monumental news. waa. will the gentrification of our cities continue?  since california often leads the nation in trends, you wonder what will happen next? will the urban living trend take it all the way to be the exact opposite of parliment's 'chocolate city'? ie., vanilla cities and chocolate suburbs? who the hell knows, but all you can do is look to california.

Black folks already live out there, walnut creek and concord, etc....its the only thing they can afford.

My neighbors down the hall in Cleveland (black & latin couple) have a home in the bay area, and all they could AFFORD was a house in Antioch.  Which surprises me when their condo here in Cleveland is probably worth 650-700k easily.  Also, the poorer people will get pushed out towards Richmond.  I can remember when Lake Merritt was seedy..now it expensive as hell!    They even have the cheasy 24 diner that a one bar stool away from being an documentary.

Now we all know damn well that black folks cannot afford Walnut Creek.  Barely even white folks can afford it.

Are you sure?  When I was in the bay area last spring, I visited my neighbors while they were at their house in Walnut Creek (they originally lived there, then came to cleveland for work in late '04), there were quite a few families of color (that I saw) on their street and in their neighborhood.

My neighbors said that is the reason they chose that area because its "diverse" and they see other gay and black or latino home owners.  Go figure.  :?  BTW, all the houses in those damn developments LOOK EXACTLY alike - talk about lack of inspiration!  And, what is up with the all those damn cows?

A). It might not have been IN Walnut Creek

B). If it was, your friends must be extremely affluent (or in the "ghetto" if they have one) because Walnut Creek is one of The Bay's richest areas.

C). Walnut Creek was once agragarian, so it makes sense to see cows.  Besides, they like to graze on the burning hills of terror.

D). Walnut Creek does have a nice "downtown" (re: Easton meets Phoenix).

Oh well.  LOL  I'll take your word for it, as I don't know much about the area, as I don't really like the "left coast".

majestic! - so nice
