Posted May 29, 200619 yr This year I finally made it to the Memorial Day ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Eden Park...here's some pictures from the service. The 21 gun salute: The Cincinnati Bearcat Band played well. And here's a video of the flag raising: http://www.robertethan.com/Videos/MemorialDayFlagRaising20060529.wmv It was a very nice service...not much I can add to it...
May 29, 200619 yr Very nice! A couple of the 21-gun salute guys almost look like they're aiming at you. Run!
May 29, 200619 yr Nice! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 29, 200619 yr Yeah, that's all they were announced as. If you were asking which Bearcat band it was, I couldn't tell you. Well, I could tell you they weren't CCM'ers - it was a little rough in places. But perfect for the occasion.
May 29, 200619 yr Good photos. I look forward to exploring Eden Park more thoroughly in the future. It looks like a beautiful place. Oooops! Gotta go! I'm sure what just rattled my windows was thunder, not a 21-gun salute. I always unplug my electronics during storms.
May 30, 200619 yr i played in the band that day...it was a pretty nice service no music majors in this band...just other majors including myself, we had never seen most of that music except for the normal star spang ban., stars and stripes and tap...other than that it was all sightreading...it was fun
May 30, 200619 yr Not to loose sight of the purpose, but I had to laugh that WKRC went to Batavia, Blue Ash, and Edgewood for their ceremonies, but forgot about Cincy's. It didn't look like 5 people came to Edgewoods. Nice shots.

I got there during the 2nd to last prelude piece - what was that? It seemed a bit...well, I guess I didn't understand why it was chosen. But I wasn't there when it was introduced, so I was wondering what it was. You guys were just reading that stuff down that day? Then that's an even better job than I thought! Thank you very much for participating - it made a beautiful ceremony that much better! If you didn't pull down the video of the flag raising, it includes the first two lines of the Star Spangled Banner (up to just before "and the rocket's red glare") (and it's got a kick-ass bird chirping his head off!) - brings chills, hearing those chords cascade over each other, with the flag going up fast then dropping slowly to half-mast...
