(and Ohio Health is taking part of it.) I don't think any of Gravity 3 has been approved as of yet. Edited November 18, 20213 yr by CbusOrBust

November 24, 20213 yr From North Bank Park- The Peninsula and Gravity 2 are really changing the view!
November 29, 20213 yr From West State Street... The "backside" of Gravity 2 is on the left with one of the parking garages at The Peninsula in the distance:
November 29, 20213 yr Here's a kind of unique view of Gravity 2... I was able to get up close while most of the workers were at lunch:
November 29, 20213 yr Are we missing something? I can't figure out what this proposal is that was in the TMUD. Franklinton Apartments at 707 W Broad. The old Graham Ford. I think it's Pizutti Property from old articles but the LLC is associated with Thrive. I can't recall anything being published about it. At $11.5, it's a sizeable project it seems. Pizzuti did recently replace the fence signage that had gotten torn down over the past year, so they are keeping an eye on the site, at least. It would be a great site for a large scale development, with it being within walking distance of CMM, Gravity, the Peninsula and other new job centers, plus its access to 315.
December 3, 20213 yr Seems like possible bad news for the Mondrian building proposal. The buildings at the address are up for sale now. I know that doesn’t always mean it won’t happen, but seems unlikely it will happen. Maybe Kaufman will buy it.

I was really looking forward to seeing this building going up, especially its last iteration. While I understand it's difficult to undertake such an investment in the current environment, it's still very disappointing.
December 3, 20213 yr I wouldn't say it's dead - half of the parcel for sale includes a building that was never part of the Mondrian project. The parking lots in the back were part of Mondrian - it's a different parcel that can be split.

The CU article talking about this has the exact same address listed as what is for sale. A new proposal calls for a 13-story apartment building at 567-575 W. Broad St. in Franklinton.
December 3, 20213 yr Let's be honest, even if it is "dead" West Broad Street is clearly ripe/prime/attractive for development. West Broad will become its own "district" if you will, with bars, restaurants, shops, offices, apartments, etc..... I have a feeling over the next 2 decaes we are going to literally see a new westward skyline occur. Something else even taller will likely eclipse this proposal. It's so much fun living in Columbus as it continues to densify and grow as it always has continued to do. Edited December 3, 20213 yr by Gnoraa

It really is exciting to see all the progress, and not just in Columbus but Central Ohio as a whole. Anytime I go anywhere in Central Ohio that I don't frequent weekly it seems like I see some kind of new project starting or for sale signs on large parcels of land. The prospect of a "west of the river" skyline is also incredibly cool. Wasn't there also another tower someone proposed within the last year for the west side of the river?

I was in New Albany a few months ago for the first time in well over ten years, and holy $hit- what a difference! I honestly couldn't believe how much the entire northeast corner of Franklin County has grown since the last time I had been there. I live on the west side of Columbus, and when I am taking ubers downtown or to some friends houses, the route goes down the "interesting" Sullivant Ave, however when you are ascending the ramp onto I-70/71 and you look over the entire Franklinton/Scioto Peninsula area, it is mind boggling how much denser it already looks. Even beyond that with Parks Edge, Hilton, The James and Gravity 2.0, the entire vantagepoint is actually very beautiful. It will be even more interesting to watch it continue filling in so many of the other spaces slated for projects, as well as the additional height that is in the pipeline with North Market Tower & the recently proposed 34 story tower in East Franklinton. I almost wonder if the old Cooper Stadium site should become a mixed used development with a few taller residential builds, as the view from that area is actually very impressive looking to the city!!!

Another view I've really been noticing lately is how Jeffrey Park looks now from spots along Cleveland Ave (kind of near the old bakery) and from a couple different spots along 670. They're currently developing the part of the property that's closest to the freeway, so it's really becoming noticeable from a few different spots in that area!

That whole area is seemingly one huge construction zone (with phase two of River&Rich and Gravity 3 still to come!!!) so im assuming/hoping they'll bury them now. Speaking of moving power lines- I read the developer is ready to put some residential buildings in the lots between the new Chipotle HQ and the old Brothers building but they're waiting for all those power lines to be moved. Does anyone have any idea how long it may take for crews to remove/reroute multiple power lines so those can move forward?

I don't know the details, but I would imagine there is an enormous amount of pre-planning involved before they touch the power lines - because no one wants their power going out. But once work starts, it goes very quickly - because, again, no one wants their power going out(!)

Got cool restaurants, shops and a nice walkable area all clouded by a mess of wires above. Just isn't a good look when taking people to the "nice" areas and it's just a bunch of wires everywhere. Just so unsightly!

December 15, 20213 yr Project Designed to House Survivors of Human Trafficking Moving Forward Brent Warren - Columbus Underground - Dec. 15, 2021 "Construction is scheduled to start next spring on a new affordable apartment complex designed for – and to some extent by – survivors of human trafficking. Named Harriet’s Hope after abolitionist and Underground Railroad ‘conductor’ Harriet Tubman, the 52-unit project is being developed by the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) and Columbus-based Beacon 360 Management. ... The three-story building will be built on the site of a former Franklinton motel that has already been demolished (the developers are not publicizing the exact address for security reasons)."
December 17, 20213 yr Does anyone know what's stalling the Mount Carmel West redevelopment? Most projects that were delayed by covid seem to be somewhat back on track, but it's been over a year since I saw an update on this one. I'm getting inpatient because this is the development I'm most excited to see for "West" Franklinton

An article from the Dispatch with a little more background on this project: Harriet's Hope more than a place to live: 'We have the power of helping to heal folks' “‘It’s symbolic to me. It’s kind of like our stories — the women who make it out on the other side — that the space of that old hotel is given a clean slate. Me and my survivor sisters were the same: The old side of me was demolished and broken down, and then I was built back up into something beautiful.” What she is referring to is Harriet’s Hope, a $13 million housing complex that will break ground next year on the site of that former motel on Broad Street that was demolished earlier this year. It is a partnership of the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority and Beacon 360 Management, a minority- and woman-run nonprofit real estate development and management firm based in Columbus that is focused on advocating for vulnerable populations. This is the first project of its kind in Ohio and most likely in the nation, advocates of human-trafficking survivors say.” https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/local/2021/12/20/sex-trafficking-survivors-columbus-affordable-housing-project-support-childcare/6497369001/?utm_source=dispatch-Daily Briefing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily_briefing&utm_term=list_article_thumb&utm_content=OHIO-COLUMBUS-NLETTER65
