March 30, 20232 yr Oh so these really aren't townhomes then. Just apartments with units on multiple floors that are shaped like townhouses? March 30, 20232 yr They don't look very deep to me so whatever they are the important rooms will have natural light(living/dining areas and bedrooms) so IMO they should be good. But the thing about no south windows is true.

March 30, 20232 yr The only thing I can think of as to why these stunted units they put up against parking garages (which does look much nicer than the alternative) is that perhaps there are studies that windows that close to the garage openings run the risk of allowing more exhaust/chemicals from the garage to enter your unit? Again, just spit balling here, not sure if that is even a factor. In the case of these units, I like that they have the angles on the front of the building, I think that will help to maximize as much as they can additional windows.
March 30, 20232 yr Well hopefully there are a few more Dracula types to fill these units in then lol. Keeps the sunny units free for the rest of us! My plants wouldn't survive in a place like this. Edited March 30, 20232 yr by TIm
March 30, 20232 yr The windows face west - plenty of sun until the project across the street is built. Not much different than any other apartment building recently built. They all have center hallways and your windows only face one direction.

It is picking the right spot for the right plant. Those are fairly large windows also. Hours of direct sunlight in the late afternoon early evening. I really don't think it is that big of a deal actually. People who want more light will look elsewhere. People who don't mind how it is will be the ones living there. Again, there is enough variation in what people want/need that it should be fine. We need more immigrants!-from Transylvania! lol.

Ok sorry if my post came off as rude-it was not meant to be that way. I was having problems also and had to restart my laptop. I think this issue is really a non-issue or a really minor one at that. Some of those renderings posted are a little depressing because they show the church at the bottom of the renderings that is no longer there. ugh. I was looking at pics/reading about our flood of 1913 a few days ago and it survived and sheltered hundreds of people-flooded houses were all around it. Such is progress I guess.

April 8, 20232 yr While we are on the topic of deteriorating buildings... I do not believe I've seen any work at spaghetti warehouse since the roof collapse more than a year ago. We'd almost need a drone to see for sure.
April 8, 20232 yr I've heard rumors that not only has no work been done but also that mold has been allowed to take over the interior It's very sad and I'm afraid the building will be another demolition by neglect, in addition to losing the collection of antiques/ memorabilia that were housed inside Edited April 8, 20232 yr by NW24HX

April 8, 20232 yr I know for certain of at least one out of state company looking to buy the building and develop it but they said the owners of the lot were being incredibly difficult to work with so they dropped it. I don’t have any more details than that.

This move probably doesn’t bode well for the building: Spaghetti Warehouse moving from West Broad Street to downtown “What will happen to the Broad Street building? The future of the old building on West Broad Street is not yet known. The restaurant does not own the real estate. According to Franklin County property records, the owner is Spag 397 LLC, which was transferred the 2.66-acre, six-parcel property in 2018. It's in a hot area. The site is across Broad Street from Kaufman Development’s Gravity project and just west of The Peninsula, a multi-phase transformative mixed-use development spearheaded by CDDC.“ https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/04/11/spaghetti-warehouse-moving-broad-street-downtown.html Im thrilled that SW is reopening, and on High St DT at that. I don’t have high confidence that the old building will survive tho. It’s too bad, it looks nice; and it’d be great to see the surrounding parking lots developed.

April 11, 20232 yr What buildong is SW moving to? Found the answer in another article. The Commons seems like an unlikely spot for a SW in general. Seems small and too new but I hope it will offer a stable long term tenant for that spot on the Commons. Edited April 11, 20232 yr by DTCL11
April 11, 20232 yr As awesome as that old building is and the setup they had inside was quite fun to take in, I'm just glad they are staying, and moving to the downtown/central city at that. I hope they can move a good portion of the fun memorabilia they have. I believe this will be where "The Point on the Park" was located, which actually is a decent sized space on the park there. The reality is now that the old space is prime for a nice large redevelopment where so much is already being built up.

They didn’t seem to have very good food, and most people went for the nostalgic aspect, which won’t be there. Hopefully they can make it last, so there is more variety downtown, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I for one didn't ever think to go to it because it was somewhat tucked away IMO and you almost forgot about it. From Broad, it was never lit up and you would never even realize it was an open business half the time. It took me every bit of living here for 7-8 years before I thought to check it out and I've eaten at the majority of restaurants in this town at this point lol. The new location may end up being more accessible and visible, I mean it will have windows now. Their price point is not very expensive at all so that's a great option for some and provides approachability compared to some of the pricier places downtown. I also think they will benefit from people dining out prior to all the CAPA events. My crew is always rotating restaurants prior to our Broadway subscription shows and this will now be a nice addition where we are already parked for the shows. I'm just thinking this perhaps could be a better option in the end and potentially be a new era/life for the business. Edited April 11, 20232 yr by Gnoraa

I think with the high visibility, and possibly hundreds of new units within walking distance coming online in the coming years, it might have a chance. That location does seem to be a bit of a revolving door tho.
April 12, 20232 yr I also seriously question this move to this location. One saving grace is that it is only a couple blocks from a massive parking garage. Too bad they could not find an actual old building to relocate in for the expected ambiance that comes with going there. *Way back when I dated a server there and I would never ever go there again after the horrors I learned. *shudders* - I am sure it is not that way now of course lol. I work in the area and go to Condado for lunch often. It’s doing fine and it’s directly next door. Plus the articles say they are going to try to cater to grab & go meals. There’s no grab & go Italian restaurant downtown, which could be successful with downtown workers. Honestly I feel like it’s more likely that its downfall will be the below mediocre Italian rather than the location change.
