I talked to someone kind of recently who is involved with the people who are currently using the site for parking and material staging.  He told me that they were told they could use the site til around June, when Marker estimates they will tear down the buildings on site.

That’s not an awful amount of time. Hopefully it still happens.

In addition to the adaptive reuse component, the project will also include two ground-up buildings with 52 units. All of the property’s units will be reserved for residents who earn 30 to 80 percent of the area median income. Rental rates are projected to range from $400 to $1,295 per month depending on income restriction and size of the unit. Five units will be reserved for those with mobility challenges and two units for those with sight and hearing disabilities.

I know it's late fall so the water levels are low, but it's always surprising to me how much of the river they just backfill when they need to build bridge pylons.

ODOT redeveloping Franklinton facility in $90M project

"The Ohio Department of Transportation has undertaken a $90 million project in Franklinton.

ODOT is replacing all the buildings at 1600 W. Broad St. that today house the central garage and sign shop with new facilities. When finished the site will be home to 11 new buildings, including the new District 6 Franklinton outpost.

Materials will stay at the Grove City outpost, but trucks and workers that had been there will move to the new Franklinton location.

Demolition work started earlier this year and construction on the new facilities will end in the fall of 2026."

That parking garage is so huge, they need to turn it into a transportation hub and the top floor turn it into a park extension.

I agree… not sure why Greyhound was not moved there

It was there for like a month then some Boomer was probably like "I bet an abandoned gas station way out on the West Side would be cheaper"

Meanwhile, the fancy Spring Street Terminal COTA station that's underutilized is still, well, underutilized.

It's 100% a huge waste of space. Especially facing the park, it needs to be partly removed and rebuilt with offices/apartments/restaurants/etc.. or an extension of the actual park.

While we're at it. Let's have a dedicated/protected bike lane all the way from the Rich St Connector at Main Street all the way across Rich St Bridge down Town St ALL The way to S Central Ave

I *think* it's pending the city redoing the streetscape design. Not worth putting permanent installations in to be torn up in the near future I believe.

Harriet's Hope apartment project in Franklinton will give human trafficking victims housing, supportive services

A new development is ready to provide survivors of human trafficking with safe, affordable housing.

Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority and Columbus-based Beacon 360 Management recently wrapped up construction on Harriet's Hope, a 52-unit, $15 million project in Franklinton.

We're not publishing the address in order to protect the safety of residents.

Scott Scharlach, CMHA's chief operating officer, said the state of Ohio has more calls into the human trafficking hotline than almost any other state, which demonstrates a need for this kind of housing.

"This is a unique solution to a problem that could be replicated," Scharlach said. "If someone is going to succeed, it's going to be here."

No actual details on the tenant, but at the Franklinton meeting today they presented plans for the Solazzo building and said there is a tenant and they are ready to get it built out. I’m excited to see who it is and what the end product will look like. They are adding a shipping container style building to the outside with an outside kitchen that will also provide service for the pool behind it.

Land-Grant and Kaufman's Gravity Experience Park opens Friday in Franklinton

Land-Grant Brewing and Kaufman Development are ready to show off their new activity space.

The Franklinton craft brewery and developer of Gravity have teamed up on the new Gravity Experience Park, which opens Friday between the brewery and the Idea Foundry building.

"The whole Gravity community is really based on trying to create an experience for people. And this is just another expansion of that," Brett Kaufman, CEO of Kaufman Development, previously told Columbus Business First. "This park is a place for anyone and everyone to come and enjoy."

Ice Bumper Cars coming soon too...

"Land-Grant Brewing Company, located at 424 W. Town St., has already transformed into a Wintergarden this year, and in a couple of weeks they’re adding Ice Bumper Cars to their icy, beer-friendly, adult playground.

“Land-Grant’s Wintergarden is getting BIGGER. Don’t worry. The igloos and curling you know and love aren’t going anywhere. But, we’ve expanded into Gravity Park with @gravitycolumbus here in Franklinton (just steps away from our current beer garden) where we’ll be serving up cold beer + operating Columbus’ first Ice Bumper Cars."

This project is disappointing for me. They had so much oppoertunity to make something good and it just looks like an 80s/90s concrete bridge.

Land-Grant's Adam Benner talks ice bumper cars and teases more plans for Gravity Experience Park

Making beer isn’t just about beer.

With a crowded marketplace – macro and micro beers, seltzers, spirits, so-called ready-to-drink canned cocktails, etc. – the product itself is part of the battle, but it’s not the only part.

Land-Grant Brewing’s leaders know experience is about more than what’s in the can.

The Franklinton brewery for several years has turned its beer garden into a winter outdoor destination with heated igloos and games such as curling. And that slate of activities is growing with the nearby opening of Gravity Experience Park, which will include a new bar off the Idea Foundry to showcase innovative beers.

I’m sometimes okay with that. There isn’t really any type of attraction over there so a basic bridge is fine and cheaper. Spend more money and make the nicer bridge farther south on the Scioto.

Yeah I'd rather have money spent for something more interesting at an AD-SP bridge than at Souder Ave. The function here is what's important, not so much needing a flashy look

It really should be since it's the "new" arts district and has hotel, COSI, etc.
