What are those new structures for under the bridge?

Maybe lights?? It looks like they all have access panels towards the bottom. The bar across the top of the one side might just be to help them stay straight until they finish, and to make sure someone doesn’t knock them over??

You are correct! I found this online. This should turn out to be pretty cool! Probably like the lighting under the 3rd street bridge on Nationwide Blvd.

I do like that, but I think something old styled would be even cooler for the Franklinton area. Something like these…

Developer seeks approval for 75-unit apartment complex in growing stretch of Franklinton

Another residential development is in the works for Franklinton, near the emerging dining corridor and arts hub on Walnut Street.

Rocky Point Partners plans a four-story, 75-unit apartment building with 72 parking spaces at 511 W. Town St., Rocky Point President Alex Marsh told Columbus Business First.

A ground-floor commercial space will feature a fitness operator offering memberships to the public, Marsh said.

I know it's "corporate/commercial" but I think an Orange Theory would kill it down in Franklinton, I know it would be the one I change over to. Right now you have to go either to Grandview, Short North or even Hilliard on this side of town.

I hope in future years, there is development on the North/South lots to connect the storefronts/businesses between Town and Rich streets. It will just make the cohesiveness of the continually urbanizing neighborhood better IMO. I get down to Franklinton weekly, and lately when walking around, there is one lot of land, that I'm sure is prime for development, however every time I walk by it it feels like it would make a great little park for the area. It already has some good mature trees. It would just need some parklike attention with lamps, maybe a path or two, flower beds, benches and a fountain.

The red in my screen shot would be great future development lots, but the green is the park space I'd love to see built out.

West Broad Project Wins Approval

Local firm Grateful Development Partners is moving forward with plans for a five-story mixed-use development in Franklinton. The project, located at 550 W. Broad St., was given a final go-ahead by the East Franklinton Review Board last month.

The board approved landscaping and lighting plans for the building, which will hold 64 apartments spread over its top four floors. The ground floor of the building will contain a 42-space parking garage as well as two retail spaces and a resident amenity space on the Broad Street side.

The project was first brought to the board in May of last year, and later returned for more feedback and approval of the building’s design in July and August. The board emphasized the importance of “paying respect to the historical buildings that flank either side of our property, exploring materiality, and ways to break down the scale/verticality of our proposal,” according to the packet submitted in advance of the May 28 meeting by project architect ArchAll.

This building doesn’t look amazing, but I like the brick along the ground floor, and I’m happy to see retail space attached.
