Well… speaking of night life options… There’s a proposal with the Historic Commission for 476-482 N. Front St.

Not much information in the proposal regarding the operator, but it does say it’s a distillery buildout.

For anyone else confused at first, the address is south front. Happy to see that building continue to get used. I didn’t know the last bar left, but hopefully this one works out

Was in the brewery district today and snap a photo of one of the Hoster buildings. It has windows now and looks great.

Glad to see it being used again! In the late 1990s I used to eat lunch there everyday back when it was Gibbys.

Glad to see it reused as well. Such a cool, unique spot. Was Double Happiness for awhile and brought in some pretty good music acts.

Any updates on the Roto attraction adjacent to Nocterra? Or the alleged new distillery in the old Double Happiness building?

Seems like a lot of projects have been announced and then dropped off the map

I think the double happiness one is still ongoing, it was only brought to the commission last month I believe.

the Roto one is probably in progress and just hasn’t had updates.

The Roto museum was on the meeting for November so that’s good to see.

I wasn't able to get a photo in time, but there appears to be a new auto shop / oil change facility going into the old Long John Silver's location.

Are they able to have that and still re-align the Thurman intersection?

Not at all, the garage is up against High St. I'll get a photo shortly.

The realignment is still on the cities plans, so it seems weird this was approved.

The approved site plan shows a triangle of land reserved for the City's project. What that actually looks like, I haven't seen yet. It definitely would have been a lot cleaner if the City had been able to buy this property to properly realign the intersection.

That building will be hit no less than 10 times a year.

Misaligned intersections are a classic Columbus thing - don't let the traffic engineers homogenize the city!!

They better put some strong bollards in on that corner or there's going to be a few unplanned oil changes a year

I wonder how long it'll take them to get the old greasy fried fish smell out of there.

Yeah, I was looking forward to this alignment for a while, and this looks like an awkward compromise. But as long as I can turn left onto High, I'll take it.

Do they need to? I mean it's a garage so...can't they...work that in to the experience?

I don't think it'll help and/or allow for cars to turn left. There's very limited room to expand and/or shift the lane. The building actually compromises the view of Greenlawn avenue coming down Thurman and personally think it will create more traffic collisions.

To be called “Prototype: The Experimental Museum,” the target opening day for the new attraction is sometime after Labor Day, according to a press release.

Although the company is still not sharing too many specifics about the exact look and feel of the new museum’s interior, a spokesperson said that the public can expect opening day exhibits “to range from large kinetic artworks and cutting-edge digital worlds to original sensory illusions, immersive films, sound studios – even a virtual reality salon.”

“Prototype is where edgy meets experimental,” said Dana Russell, Roto Partner and VP of Brand & Culture in a statement. “It is designed for adults seeking something bold and provocative, making Prototype a prime destination for date nights, group outings, or anyone craving an unexpected adventure.”

The entire Scioto Audubon is an absolute gem for downtown. Excited for this museum and the eventual apartment. Also, this is secretly the best place to watch Red White and Boom.

Please tell me the 'virtual reality salon' is more of an interactive room where people can engage in shared or individual virtual reality experiences and not just a place where you *virtually* get your hair and nails done.

Listen, if that virtual BS gets me a haircut under $10 with some robot, I'll take it.

Amazing! This project is going to feed nicely into the developed Whittier Peninsula. Also an easy walk to bars and restaurants on High St.

City to make improvements to problematic Brewery District intersection this spring

"The City of Columbus plans to spend $3 million to adjust the intersection of South High Street and Thurman and Greenlawn avenues in the Brewery District.

The City will reconfigure the intersection to allow for two left turn lanes. The project will also relocate traffic signals.

“The intent is to soften how the intersection is offset currently so that left turns onto High Street can be permitted safely from both Thurman Avenue and from Greenlawn Avenue. In the coming months, our project team basically will be designing improved geometry for the offset to make it safer and to minimize right-of-way impacts as the project gets constructed. Approved site plans for the development at the former Long John Silver’s location include a no-build zone to help accommodate our intersection project," they said.

The city says the project will start in the spring and be completed in the fall of 2027."

If only the city had bought the LJS lot. We could've had a roundabout.

I don't think this will help during rush hour, as cars turning left will still have to wait a light or change or two to even pull into the turn lane due to the heavy amount of traffic going each direction.

Not to mention the pain this will cause during the construction. The oil change place shouldn't have moved forward and more accidents will happen due to decreased visibility.

Any details you can provide? Or is this just a random rendering?

Is this Millennial Tower 2.0? Needs more parking.

Yeah I was getting Millennial from it as well. It's the 120' LED signage bit.

Not that I dislike it or anything, I love cyberpunk nonsense like neon lights and huge LED screens. That's extremely my aesthetic.

Guessing this would be around Front & Livingston where the old Wasserstrom showroom was?

Possibly, Ludlow and Livingston?

It could be further down the road in a flood zone, hence the need for the 2 floor for Water Conservation. Is it the best? No, but depending where it's built I kind of like it.

I’m wondering if it will be down off Short St next to 71? Might make sense for the layers of parking garage to avoid highway noise?

either way it looks horrible, so it will be interesting to see who it’s from and where it’s going.

this little plot has been for sale, so maybe even there? The LED signage would be annoying for the trail walk though

The name on the project does say "Fulton park". Probably in one of the area's highlighted below, is my guess:

I did see that, but a parking garage like that makes no sense in that area. I could get 1-2 levels but good lord it’s half parking garage. I guess it’s just me more so hoping it won’t go there ha

That area doesn’t seem to be a flood zone either so that makes zero sense.

No flood zone around here is 100' tall. The water conservation reservoir is just a new phrase for storm water detention.
