These three lie at the northwest corner of Fairfield County (CW is in Franklin but close enough).  Pickerington (est. 15,000 people) and Canal Winchester (est. 5,300 people) are both growing very quickly in the typical sprawled-out fashion.  I don't know about Lithopolis (est. 614 people), but it will probably become the next suburban "paradise" in 20 years.

Here are some photos of the three old downtowns:

CANAL WINCHESTER-- founded 1828 and got its name from the Ohio & Erie Canal that was built through the village.

PICKERINGTON-- founded in 1815 as Jacksonville, the name was later changed to honor the founder, Abraham Pickering

No downtown would be complete without a surface parking lot right in the middle of it:

Lithopolis--founded in 1814 and given the Greek name meaning "city of stone" because of a nearby quarry

The town is not very big or spectacular, but it is home to the attractive Wagnalls Memorial, which serves as the town's library and community center.  It was donated by one of the founders of Funk and Wagnalls.

Lithopolis had the highest housing density of any of the three downtowns:

So that's what Pickerington's "downtown" looks like!
