What is the  meaning of it really? I mean do people eat faster??? How would some tell which town is at a faster pace just by looking at what people do?

The only real quantification of was done back in the 1980s or even late 70s.  Someone did a study of how fast people walked...on sidewalks, in shopping malls, and so forth...measured the pace or speed of walkers in various cities.

I dont know if any Ohio city was included in this study, but I do recall Sacramento, Califorina, had one of the slowest paces of the cities measured.

Which I agree with.  Sacramento is very laid-back, or used to be.  One Cali. journo nicknamed it The Big Easy(chair).  Of course with their hot Valley summers, one doesnt want to move too fast....as Joan Didion wrote (about her home town) "Summer comes on like an affliction..."

('but its a dry heat!.'..as the locals used to say)
