No doubt, Longhorn's has by far the best steaks of any chain restaurant...you can do better at a steakhouse, but for at least double the price.  I hit Longhorn's probably once/month - I hit a Juff Ruby's place down here maybe once/year, if that...

I would choose Great Lakes or the Renaissance Hotel lobby bar, but they don't want my business.

Those would both be non-smoking bars. Well the bar at the Renaissance has probably been non-smoking for a while, but the entire lobby area around the fountain where you could take your drinks and sit in a plush couch under the chandeliers permitted smoking until only a few months ago.

From the School of Hard Knocks and their continuing education program called Life:

Al-co-hol-ism = an addiction to alcohol where you drink increasingly greater amounts just to feel "normal"

After numerous times of trying to moderate my drinking over 20 years, I ended up only drinking more. I quit several times but went into depressions. So finally, I quit drinking on July 20, 2003, did the 12 steps, went to AA, and so on. I've been sober ever since. However, I have yet to quit smoking (well, I've quit numerous times but none for more than a few years) nor have I dumped the Diet Coke. Those are next on my things to do.

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

I stopped drinking diet coke by switching to ice tea; a much healthier option. I don't worry about smoking, because I think the real cause of lung cancer is walking down a street and inhaling exhaust from automobiles.

This message was paid for by your friends at Philip Morris.

Both are horrible, but to single out only cigarettes is the fallacy of the smoke-free workplace advocacy crowd. How many cigarettes can fit in a car's exhaust pipe(s)? How many exhaust pipes do we have in this country? How many in the world?

I'm sorry -- weren't we discussing our favorite places in town?

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

lol exhaust doesn't go directly into your system like cigarette smoke. Compare the lung of a frequent smoker to that of a nonsmoker living in the city.

Thanks, but it isn't willpower that usually causes an alcoholic to quit drinking. It's often the fear of an early death. I'm pretty sure I would have been dead in five years at the increasing rate I was drinking.
