Kids choose Municipal Pool over Playstation!  :-o   :-o

Eastview Pool, one of Hamilton's 4 municipal swimming pools that are terribly deteriorated, yet apparently still popular, even on a cool day.

And some of them even rode bikes to it!

The city of Cincinnati is fortunate to have over 40 public pools.  A season token costs only $5 at some pools, and is good at all of the pools, all year.  They are a great community asset, and they are generally well-attended and pretty-well cared for.  I have already been swimming in 3 of the pools this year, and and you just can't beat the convenience and affordability if you have kids. ...Another reason to live in the city!

I think you were stalking those kids.

Fort Wayne has decent, well-utilized public pools in some of the parks, but they open late because the staff, especially lifeguards, are recruited from among college students who aren't available until school lets out for the summer and who leave before labor day.

I hate public pools; they're disgusting.

Private pools are for idiots who want to be alone and spend thousands of dollars, not to mention endless hours of maintenance for the privlege of not being seen in their swimsuit in public.  My nearest public pool is super clean and staffed with freindly guards who also clean the pool and do regular chorine tests. It is also a great place for kids to meet new freinds.

Good view:

They're still nasty... all that urine, sweat, etc. Plus all that chlorine is not good for you. I know public pools are great for communities Im just weird about that.

well the kids could still bring a gameboy ya know!

ha neat pics -- i used to lifeguard and do concessions at our city pools as a kid. we watched the chlorine pretty carefully, it wasn't hard to manage that. there is no excuse to mess that up other than poor management.

funny i never felt like a good enough swimmer to guard on the lake, but i had asthma and didn't know it yet.

i think city pools are great for communities. they are a lot of silly fun too. good times for everyone there.

If that is really your you are going to miss alot out of life!

By the way, I have noticed that most of the Cincinnati public pools are made of huge pieces solid aluminum welded together.  Each peice has a label saying that it was cast at a foundry in Hamilton, OH!
