Does anyone use this?

It is amazingly amusing in stalking down your friends from college and back into high school

As of September 13th, 2006:  there is a Facebook.com group called "UrbanOhio" that anyone can join (it is a global group).

Honestly, folks, what are you doing on Facebook and Twitter at all?   They are both cesspools on every conceivable level, even before the brainrotted took over, and add no value any longer.

Never heard of it. Is it worth registering?

Although I don't use it, I work on a college campus and hear about it all the time. I guess it is all the rage. To me it sounds like a Friendster thing that allows you to have subgroups--like by high school and by college.

its more hilarious than anything. You can find old friends (if you really want to) and harass them, its interesting and mostly a big time waster........

The Facebook is a big deal.  For the same reason girls like IM'ing more than guys, they make a big deal out of this thing.  Quite seriously, as a more casual step than offering a phone #, a girl will just say while heading off into the night "I'm on The Facebook".  Dear UrbanOhio: I never thought it would happen to me.  So yeah, I'm on there.

has facebook recruited any more dorks from UO?

I would be a member, but my school isn't part of it.  :-(

Yup, I'm on it.

I am on this thing because someone told me to be, but I don't think I've quite gotten the point of it yet.  You find friends, join groups, etc., but then what?  What are people doing that takes up so much time?  Just sending messages and such?

bah. I won't join this on principle... My high school class has its own website, my college has a student-run message board site, and my real friends and I have an email list, so I don't see the point anyway.  I'm not interested in meeting random people or being stalked.

Now watch me join it after all in the next 6 months  :-P

we need to create a urbanohio group if there isnt one already.  someone needs to get on top of that, but not me...lol.  as for anyone interested in joining, it is amusing for a month or so.  then it gets old but still gives you something to poke around on if youre really bored.

can groups be created across schools?

oh, you're right, you can't create groups across schools.  Good call.

i could create the urbanohio case chapter......but i'm fairly certain it would have one member. At least the osu chapter would have a handful

oh, if anybody wants to be my friend (still terribly bored today) james popp (don't ask) at case western

i see, no one wants to be my friend........sob

facebook is worthless

myspace is a bazillion times better, since there's no limitations as to who you can search for.

you can start your own groups there too, and post more pictures, and blog, and have classifieds...

I think that's the first time I've ever seen Rupert Murdoch called a nobody.

When he lent his voice to the Simpsons once, I believe he said "I'm Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire tyrant!"  He's a (some would say evil) media mogul, his company owning Fox among many other media outlets.

Both Myspace and Facebook are really for younger people (highschool and college age) and they are very commonly used by this demographic.

I know of two people on this site who would join the Case chapter.

so me and you?

ha, everyone at case hates case, and therefore hates cleveland and therefore hates ohio

just checking in to see if there is any more dorks out there.......

I'm on the high school facebook and its really popular with the highschool kids around the city.

There is a HIGH SCHOOL facebook?  How the hell would you access THAT?!?

A high school one, eh?  Does that automatically invalidate the coolness of the facebook for college students?

I have little to no interest in the facebook, but what the hell... if anyone wants to be friends with a Pig Boy, search for Woodruff at Ohio Wesleyan.

ooh, i wanna be pigboys friend!

lets stalk him in madison

Go ahead, do your worst! :shoot:

So wait...can alumni from the HS Facebook join it ALONG with joining the college one?!?

I got facebook!  I like it.  I admit, at first, you spend a lot of time on it, and when you are board you spend a lot of time on it.  I like it because you can keep in contact with friends from high school and or college.  You can be like, "Oh, bob is now living in Irland!  That's awesome!"  It's like your personal phone book too.  I might be heading to chicago, and a friend of mine lives there now, I havn't talked to him in a while, but I am sure he wouldn't mind letting me stay there for the night.

Oh, and if any of you guys want to be my friend, go ahead, it would be cool.  And don't worry, won't ask to stay the night at your place :-P

We gotta have a hint at your name, since OU has thousands of students.

Sorry, I thought it was on my profile.  The name is Jeremy Miller.  Send me a message that you are on Urban Ohio, because if I don't know you, I will most likely reject you.  :-D

i have found no such jeremy miller at OU.

Yeah, I haven't found one yet either.

Okay all, sorry about that.  You should be able to find me now.  I had to where only people from my school could see my profile.
