Okay, here are some photos -- some okay, some so-so -- from a trip last week to Fort Meyers.  Got some hazy skyline shots of Cleveland going down to FL. Coming back, I got a cool one of the little boot shaped part of Ohio that sticks out of Meigs County (it always amuses me on maps, and I recognized it instantly). Also what looks like a nuke power plant on the Ohio River.  We then flew up past either Athens, Zanesville, or Newark, maybe?  I'm guessing that mystery shot is Zanesville, but I'm sure someone will recognize it.

We also skirted Akron, including the blimp hanger (which I'm going to Wednesday for the new blimp launching, can't wait!) and downtown.  I got some nice shots of the Cleveland Clinic, UH, and University Circle, but was on the wrong side of the plane for downtown Cleveland, shucks!

Here goes ... enjoy!

(Am having trouble uploading rest of photos, stay tuned, I'll try later!)

This is a picture of Rivage!

^ Yay Rivage!  I was ready for it after the "boot shaped part of Ohio" comment, but then I knew you'd have caught it already when I saw that you'd replied here, RiverViewer.

Anyway, cool shots!  Aerials are always great.

Yeah, the mystery shot is Zanesville, the Y-bridge is right at the center, among other clues!

Great stuff!

Looks flater than we projected it as, back in January.

Well, I only count 12, but what do I know?!   :-D

That isn't a nuke plant.  It's coal fired. ;)

Yeah, that's what I suspected.  The opening sequence of The Simpsons is largely responsible for people automatically equating those cooling towers with nuclear plants.  Many coal plants have them and some nuclear plants do not.  Also by putting Homer at the controls the show did more to damage the image of nuclear power than anything short of a full meltdown would have.

That is most definitely Zanesville. You can see the Y-Bridge at the confluence of the rivers!

Edit

Sorry Ink, I missed your quote.

I was aware that cooling towers did not necessarily mean nuclear plants, I was just throwing out a guess there.  Obviously, a bad guess!  :-D

Great ariel shots.  I can see my old town house in the 2nd to last Akron ariel (third from the bottom).

Here's one more, I like this wide angle shot.  Took it on a Chicago-Cleveland flight last Friday, Sept. 29th, about 2:30 p.m.

You saved the best for last!

The motto of Cleveland as the "Forest City" is quite evident and the haze adds contrast in the first photo. Nice...
