Posted June 28, 200618 yr Sorry that these haven't been posted yet - the summer social season has kept me really busy. Some various pics from the Forum Meet, Pride Festival and lots more. Enjoy :-) From Cliff Drive, you can usually see people flying massive kites from Edgewater Park: Woohoo - wind turbine! Soldiers and Sailors Monument: ColDayMan gets attacked by giant space noodles! Medical Mutual's park looks nice and user-friendly! Cleveland City Hall rotunda during Pride Week: Row, row, row your boats... I didn't get to see the parade but the Pride Festival was well attended: Support from the William G. Mather: These gals were part of some promotion at Playhouse Square: I think these Mennonite people got quite the cultural experience on their Goodtime III cruise! A happy family moment: Thelma Houston (known for "Don't Leave Me This Way") did an amazing job: Over at Shooters in the Flats, the food was so-so but the views of the freighters was awesome! The Bingham, looming large: On a recent booze cruise: I wish I brought my tripod. It's blurry but you can see how awesome the skyline looked with the full moon in the background: But this turned out pretty well! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 28, 200618 yr Great photos! I love your freighter photos. I've never been fortunate enough to be there at the right time to see/photograph one.
June 28, 200618 yr Nice shots! I love the freighters. The Cuyahoga looks like the chocolate river in Willy Wonka's factory (if only OompaLoompa was toiling in the background).
June 28, 200618 yr Yeah, the river was a tad dirty - we recently had a bunch of rain and whenever that happens, a lot of sediment and umm, "other" stuff gets flushed into the Cuyahoga :? clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 28, 200618 yr Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinteresting. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
June 28, 200618 yr I love the Amish/Mennonite people hanging out at gay pride! Also note the pride flag flying above City Hall. Great photos.
June 28, 200618 yr I've got to second the appreciation for the freighter photos. Were you out in a boat for the one picture, or was that the zoom lens in effect?
June 28, 200618 yr wow that one freighter photo is awesome and the menonite photo!! holy crap amazing
June 29, 200618 yr " Were you out in a boat for the one picture, or was that the zoom lens in effect?" That would be the zoom lens :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 29, 200618 yr yes, I love freighters (even hearing them blowing their horns all night long!) , but with river bed st. being closed (and my way to avoid bridges) for repairs, one of those guys can take 15 minutes (actually timed it Tues) to go through the bridge by Hoopples..then the race I never win to get to the center st bridge before it opens. So Rob, just check my schedule and that will let you know the boat schedule! It is not uncommon to see two an hour during summer. A freight watchers insider tip is to visit Hoopples patio instead of Shooters . cheaper, less cheesy and more fun. great city view too
June 29, 200618 yr mayday- I forgot to mention, I love the skyline shot (the one after the one with the moon), it is if Cleveland is glowing. Maybe with gay pride?
June 29, 200618 yr Well, it was probably the sunset but maybe a little pride was there ;-) rob - if you're ever in Cleveland, check boatnerd.com - I think they actually post shipping schedules. The thing about Shooters (yes, it's pretty cheesy) - the freighters were going to and from Ships Channel over by the Cargill mines. I didn't see any going further south on the river. But yeah, Hooples is a great spot :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
June 29, 200618 yr nice work mayday, it's making me look forward to a home visit next month. a little 'local pride' addition re that freighter: The Paul Thayer (U.S. 552395) was constructed at American Shipbuilding’s Lorain Ohio yard (hull #00902), in 1973, for Union Commerce Bank, Trustee, Cleveland, Ohio. In 1975 management of the Thayer changed hands to the Oglebay Norton Company. Her management and ownership would again change to the Wilmington Trust Co. Trustee, Wilmington, DE in 1994 when the vessels united under the Oglebay Norton Marine banner. At this time the Paul Thayer was renamed Earl W. Oglebay.
June 29, 200618 yr My fav would have to be the photo of the indoor market. That angle from above really does the space justice.
July 2, 200618 yr wow...you're a magician with that camera! this thread is going to put the crappy one I'm piecing together to shame...
