July 2, 200618 yr Cool pictures! I went to Rockaway Beach with friends when we lived in NYC. It was like a 90 minute commute or something crazy from Washington Square Park. At some point we had a 30 minute delay waiting for a transfer in Queens. That place was a mixture of refreshing and depressing. It was awesome being with such a diverse group of "regular folks" from the area, just hanging at the ocean. The old apartments, elderly housing that overlook the water are a little bleak, though. And those new condos or whatever they are weren't there in 2004, I don't think, though I could have missed them. I love that train ride out of Manhattan, though. And, man, I forgot how many cars NYC subways have!
