License plates 2 HOT4U? Censors applying brakes

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Questioning President Bush’s truthfulness is OK, but don’t even think about declaring your hatred for the University of Michigan. References to beer and other alcoholic drinks are acceptable, but allusions to drunkenness are out of bounds.  And while no one has tested it, messages referring to Islamic extremism — such as OSAMA or JIHAD — likely wouldn’t pass muster.

Mike Royko had a column about this back in the 1980's, and I always remembered one of his examples of a license plate they caught and rejected:

TIH2 HO

...just think of what that would look like in a rear-view mirror...

I personally like IVNIK8 myself.

I don't get it?

too funny. did anyone ever get away with that and get the plate? if so that would have to go up on a bar wall somewhere for posterity.

Another thing to consider is the Bengals license plates.  They have a big "B" on the left side of the plate.  I heard that someone had a personalized Bengals license plate with the word "itch"  I heard it was revoked.

^ LOL.

There's got to be a list somewhere going around of rejected plate requests.

I bet BMV folks circulate some kind of list.  You know they're a fun bunch.

If you are talking about IVNIK8, yes, I've seen it used in California before.

Amusing read.

My license plate is NLI10D. No one get's it. They must be very unenlightened.

I must be very unenlightened myself...no clue.

Ah...yeah, I'm moving slow today.  Thanks!
