Fitting rooms were mostly closed during the pandemic which was a killer. The ability to try on clothes before you buy them is one of the main reasons to go into a physical store.

Who has proof Rolex is opening in Kenwood? Theres always rumors of ultra-luxurious stores opening there and very few come to fruition... If Chicago doesn't even have a stand alone Rolex boutique, I doubt we'll get one in our mall.Ā Also, that commenter took news that the Disney store closing was undeniable proof that malls were dying then posted about the opening of a Rolex store immediately after? Weird. We did just go through a pandemic which hit retail incredibly hard... maybe store closings are more representative of that...Ā

Visit Kenwood mall and see for yourself.

Ā

It will be located by the previousĀ Ā pop up store location and that previous jewelry store that was location next to the Louis store.Ā
Ā

It says in big letters, ā€œRolexā€ opening holiday 2021.

Ā

From the other words next to it appears to be an official first party distributor and not a third party distributor that you see a lot in various cities.Ā Ā

Cincinnati would be only the 2nd in the MidWest, Chicago has one alreadyĀ

Was at the Kenwood mall today. The Rolex store I believe is actually a Watches of Switzerland store. Banana republic is closing and noticed the closing sign for Disney (still one in Monroe as of now) but seems like they’ll eventually switch to all online. There is a capital one cafe going in next to Express which is current closed for renovation. A couple of other empty storesĀ looked like something was happening with them but nothing was advertised as to what.Ā Ā

I've never looked at Disney stores as something long term. Too specific even with Star Wars and Marvel.

I believe they currently only have stores in NYC, Boston and Las Vegas. So Cincinnati will be their first in the Midwest. The majority of their locations are in Europe.Ā

There on a month to month lease. No name retailer like that will be kicked to the curb with a space that large to welcome the first of a kind shop in Ohio.

Anyone know of any unannounced tenants heading to the Nordstrom wing of the mall??? I noticed while walking thru that a big space next to the Tempur- Pedic store was walled off and you could hear the construction. Also while walking past the food court Tempur-Pedic itself has a new location being built so they are moving too which would open up a really nice space in that cluster of luxury stores.

Ā

side note- Although I noticed several spaces are vacant throughout the property the mall still looks and feels well maintained and felt like it still has its buzz.

I believe the former Tempur Pedic space is going to be a stand-alone Gucci store (there was a note on the door that said Gucci last time I was there). I know they recently opened in Easton as well.Ā

Your definitely right about that. Gucci is on the website as coming soon! I’m sure they will do well at Kenwood. The Louis Vuitton store seems to be alwaysssss busy even on Monday and Tuesdays as I witnessed yesterday. Also with the opening of these luxury stores along with a good Nordstrom store it definitely makes the Saks closure much less meaningful for the region.

I wonder how much Kenwood is going to try and make that corridor nothing but luxury stores. I noticed the other day that there’s a Rally house that is going across 71 where Pier one used to be. Thinking Rally house may be moving from Kenwood to that new location.
Ā

I’d love to see even more luxurious brands come in like Hermes but I doubt we get any of those stores before Columbus.Ā

Yeah I’m thinking the Nordstrom wing at Kenwood will eventually be mostly high end stores with a nice mix of some mid range stuff too along with of course Apple. In regards to Columbus/Easton I’m not seeing much of a difference at all in the luxury tenant line up. Gucci seemed to be a big exclusive pick up for the them and the Ohio market but now Cincinnati is getting one too. I remember Columbus used to have a Burberry but it’s now closed from what I see.

It's weird how, and this goes for Easton too, the more luxurious the mall stores are, the lower in quality the Nordstrom gets. I used to work there in college-- when it opened, they sold Valentino and Prada shoes, Chloe Bags, St. John, etc. Now half the mens department is missing and the most expensive shoe brand they have is like, Tory Burch (which also just opened a stand alone store in Kenwood). Every time I visit Nordstrom it feels like the only thing its missing are big, red and yellow "STORE CLOSING EVERYTHING 50% OFF" signs.

I would hope that, when the day comes that Cincinnati can sustain an ultra expensive, luxury store like Hermes, it opens somewhere in OTR or downtown. Would love to see a luxury shopping district blossom in the city, even if they're independently owned boutiques.Ā

Given that Tiffany left downtown for the Kenwood mall, and Saks is closing soon, I really doubt there is going to be any kind of shopping district in Downtown Cincinnati any time soon. There were a few boutiquey stores that had locations in both OTR and the Kenwood Mall but I think all of those OTR locations have closed.

Yeah I think if a high end shopping district would have popped up anywhere in Cincinnati it would be more likely to look like Shadyside in Pittsburgh and be located in Hyde Park Square or somewhere near Madiera/Indian Hill. Kenwood is already so well positioned however that I don't see that happening any time soon. OTR will continue to focus on local brands, downtown will focus more on entertainment/dining and Kenwood will tighten it's grip on regional high end shopping. In a world of online shopping and dying retail, I don't think any of this is a bad thing either.Ā

Looking at the brand it’s seems like a fit on the Macy’s side of the mall. I did see a few available spaces over there.

Friend of mine who works at dilliards at Kenwood says they received company notice that they will be remodeling and upgrading the location inside the mall. I’m guessing it will look similar to the Liberty location which is much more modern and new.Ā
Ā

Ā

Saks should go where Dillard's currently is.Ā  Just sayin'.

^Oh that's the old Dayton Mall trick where you shuffle the anchors around when a new one wants in so they both get new stores.

I wonder if Saks could go in where that furniture store was at Kenwood Collection? It wouldn’t be a large store but would be two floors.

The old Mitchell Gold space? That would be the world's smallest location, and IDK if what is essentially a glorified strip mall with a gym and a grocery store gives the exclusive vibe they're going for. That being said, these new smaller footprint department stores (Fred Segal, The Webster, Dover St. Market, Just One Eye, etc.) seem to be much more popular with affluent younger shoppers-- the same way Trader Joe's is more popular with young people over say, Kroger (when available). It's quality over quantity. Maybe the Forever 21 space or even vacating adjacent upper and lower level spaces-- Saks could fit in there and connect with an escalator. I doubt any of this would happen because Saks is financially struggling and rent at Kenwood is not cheap, but it would be nice to keep them in the region in some capacity.Ā

As mentioned earlier, at this point I’m not so sure Cincy even needs/ should want a Saks. With Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s and now Gucci joining the mix and I’m sure others to follow Saks is unnecessary. Also I wouldn’t be surprised at all that with Saks exiting the market the Kenwood Nordstrom will probably start carrying even more high end brands since it will now be the solo go to high end department store for Cincinnati’s wealthy.

Funny.. while scrolling thru Easton Towne Center tenants after the Gucci announcement a few weeks back Psycho Bunny was the only store they had that Caught my eye for Kenwood. Amazing how the universe works lol.

I guess I'm officially an old man, googling "psycho bunny" right now...Ā

I wouldn't worry about it, basically loud clothing with a lot of logo and branding brazen across everything. It's a bunny head over cross bones, looks like a one trick pony i.e. von dutch, affliction, Ed Hardy...

Yupp a mostly early to mid 20s-ish brand but still very popular and a good get for Kenwood mix. I’ve been in a NYC store and I liked it for the most part. Definitely not cheap but quality is decent. I still don’t know why Zara hasn’t landed in Cincinnati, super strange.

in 2020 Zara announced that they were closing over 1000 stores and focusing more on online sales. I'm sure they've reneged on some of the store closings since then, but I doubt Cincinnati is as desirable when the company is struggling. Large fast-fashion companies (H&M, Forever 21) and fast-fashion adjacent companies like Zara or Urban have struggled to keep up with online fast fashion companies like Ali Express and Shein (which is a disgusting, evil company). It's a very strange time for retail (what else is new) but if your company is dirt cheap or expensive as hell, you're in the clear; if you're somewhere in the middle, you're on thin ice.Ā

Gucci is no longer listed as coming soon on the mall's website... Anyone know if they pulled out or if its some kind of mistake on the site? I wonder if the signage is still up in the mall.

I’m going to assume they pulled the plug since they have the squishable store as coming soon which came on after Gucci was already on the list. Ā The only other option I could see is that they didn’t want Kenwood to have it listed since it’s a higher end brand.

Was in Kenwood today. Still looks like Gucci is going in. Partition in front of the store saying coming in fall 2022.

If this is true it would mark a pretty extraordinary turn for luxury retail in the Cincinnati market. Fendi is veryyyy selective, them picking Kenwood would be an huge eye opener. Brookfield Properties must have some very strong numbers on local wealth to attract a Fendi.

Indian Hill is the highest per Capita in the state of Ohio, and out ranks the highest in Indiana and Kentucky, so they alone have that in there back pocket.
