November 16, 200618 yr I had also heard that they were looking at River's Crossing. They do seem to like to open more than one store (in major metro areas) so they may very well be interested in the Kenwood location. I still think Cincy needs a Norstrom more than its needs two Von Maurs.
November 16, 200618 yr Friday, July 21, 2006 Upscale retailer Von Maur has eye on Tri-State Business Courier of Cincinnati - by Lisa Biank Fasig - Staff Reporter Ā A spokeswoman at the Iowa-based chain said Von Maur is "definitely interested" in Cincinnati, particularly in Rivers Crossing, a massive, $475 million mixed-use project in South Lebanon. That project, which will include several office buildings and more than 2,000 upscale residences, will feature enough outdoor retail to fill two major malls -- 2.3 million square feet worth. South Lebanon is a pit Ā Nothing says upscale like South Lebanon...Ā South Lebanon makes Monroe look good.Ā I think the requirement in that town for housing is to have 100% vinyl and blacktop driveways - awful.
November 17, 200618 yr Nordstrom makes perfect sense.Ā Any department store would be clamoring for that space.Ā Highest sales per square foot in a region of 2.1 million people.Ā Hello?
November 17, 200618 yr I like how Kenwood has so many rare flagship stores, like Apple, Sony, Kennith Cole, Bose, etc. Obviously their mall of choice because of its proximity to Indian hill.

November 20, 200618 yr Good for Kenwood and good for Cincinnati. Better late than never. Cincy's shopping scene needed this.
November 20, 200618 yr Ehhh...I plan on boycotting Nordstrom!!!Ā They stuck it to Cincy with the 5th and Race location...not to mention I can no where afford there products.Ā
November 20, 200618 yr yea im glad they FINALLY came to cincy but im still bitter about downtown.Ā oh well.Ā atleast this isnt an exurb-south labanon esque location.Ā
November 20, 200618 yr This is good news for Cincinnati! I wonder why they are building such a small store for such a big metro though.
November 21, 200618 yr Sounds like it will be a brand new store. Also, this store will be the same size as the new stores being built, one in St. Louis, which is about the same size metro. November 23, 200618 yr Its still a shame that it isn't downtown.Ā Just comparing the Nordstrom in downtown Indy to the one in Easton is night and day and I really think part of that is the downtown shopping experience that is part of the one in Indy (sure it's part of a mall, but it's still a downtown department store).Ā Also, does anyone know if the one in Columbus is smaller than the one in Indy?Ā How will the Kenwood store compare to the one in Easton?Ā I certainly don't shop a lot at Nordstroms, but for some reason I've never been as impressed with the one in Easton as others I've been to.Ā Hopefully since we'll now have a few Nordstrom stores in Ohio and nearby, maybe we can get a Nordstrom Rack somewhat close--that would make me happy.
November 23, 200618 yr I know that the Nordstroms at Easton, as well as at other certain stores, added a designer section with Burberry, Armani, and the like. I am sure the Cincy store will have the same, since I am assuming they are only adding these lines in selected markets were there is the "need" for designer clothing lines, just like what the Saks at Polaris did when they opened up the Chanel boutique.
November 23, 200618 yr Cleveland - 231,000 Ā Indianapolis - 215,000 Ā Columbus - 174,000 Ā Cincinnati - 140,000 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nordstrom_locations#Indiana Ā I know what you mean about the downtown department store thing. Apparently Bloomingdale's said they would come into one of Cleveland's new downtown megaprojects with the right tenant mix, so hopefully other department stores will follow and things will change in Ohio from now on. Ā Ā
November 26, 200618 yr ^That's current sq footage for the Parisian site I believe.Ā Depending on what they do to the garage the footprint should expand.Ā At 140,000 sq ft that would be an inordinantly small Nordstrom's, store mix would be pretty well compromised.
November 27, 200618 yr Thanks for that info, Mov2Ohio.Ā I knew the Indy store was big, but I didn't realize it was that big, especially compared to the new Cincinnati store. Ā ^That's current sq footage for the Parisian site I believe.Ā Depending on what they do to the garage the footprint should expand.Ā At 140,000 sq ft that would be an inordinantly small Nordstrom's, store mix would be pretty well compromised. The Nordstrom press release says that the new Kenwood store is going to be approximately 140,000 sq. ft., so it looks as if that info is correct.Ā It's hard to believe it is going to be even smaller than the Columbus store.
November 27, 200618 yr I have to admit that I am a little suprised at how small it is going to be. But, its still a big step forward for Kenwood and the Cincy area.
November 27, 200618 yr I have to admit that I am a little suprised at how small it is going to be. But, its still a big step forward for Kenwood and the Cincy area. Ā If you read the articles written about the new location, you'll see where they're down-sizing all of their new stores.
November 28, 200618 yr All department stores are downsizing.Ā It helps with their sales per square foot numbers.Ā I would guess they built the other stores too big.Ā Also, high end department stores in Cincy have historically done poorly.Ā Saks is limping along with incentives from the City.Ā There are no other high-end department stores in the market.Ā To many in Cincy, Macy's is high end...JC Penny's and Sears is just right.Ā
November 28, 200618 yr ^ No JC Penny & Sears is not right.Ā Those department stores are on their way out.Ā If anything Kohl's has become the big winner lately in middle of the road Department Stores.Ā The only reason why Sears survives today is because of Die Hard, Kenmore & Craftsman.Ā Their clothes are garbage.

November 28, 200618 yr Macy's does carry some high-end merchandise, but they also have affordable merchandise as well, especially during their sales.Ā
November 28, 200618 yr Yeesh, the Nordstrom at Beachwood Place is 225,000 sq. ft. and I thought the Columbus store was absurdly small. Ā True, but the Nordstrom at Beachwood Place has been established and was around before the "Department Store Downsizing" era of today.Ā Thus, Cleveland's Cheesecake Factory(s) are puny compared to Easton's.Ā Or MayDay's apartment is puny compared to ColDayMan's state house suite. November 28, 200618 yr I wonder if the smaller stores may translate into eventually more than one store in the region, like one at Kenwood and one in Downtown or some other regional mall. Something like Coldayman's Cheesecake Factory analysis.

November 29, 200618 yr I heard on the news today that Crate and Barrel has also committed to Kenwood Towne Center.Ā They will demolish the Kroger near the Macy's parking lot and build it there.Ā I didn't hear a time frame though.Ā What is next you think?
November 29, 200618 yr Is that Kroger still in business? Are they going to open a Marketplace somewhere?
November 29, 200618 yr Is that Kroger still in business? Are they going to open a Marketplace somewhere? Ā I heard that they are looking for a new location by Kenwood Towne Center.Ā Ā With these new stores coming, I really hope something is done to improve traffic flow and parking there.Ā Going there is a stressful experience, and it usually consists of a several hour trip.Ā
November 29, 200618 yr Are we talkinga about the Kroger behind the mall?Ā That's an awfully convenient one for me to stop at on my way home from work, so I guess I'd prefer they not close up - I'd use that Kroger infinitely more than I'd use a Crate & Barrel - but I have no doubt I'm a tiny minority in that, and I really don't go there very often anyway... Ā With these new stores coming, I really hope something is done to improve traffic flow and parking there.Ā Going there is a stressful experience, and it usually consists of a several hour trip. Ā The extended left-hand turn lane to get onto 71N helped a ton, but the whole Kenwood/Montgomery area is so bad it's almost funny.Ā That extra light up by Trio's?Ā WTF?Ā Horrible, horrible intersection...I avoid the area like the plague when it gets near Christmas...
November 29, 200618 yr The one proposal I saw (and it might have been on UrbanOhio) was that Kroger would re-locate to the complex with Create & Barrel, along with offices and other retail.
