The local PBS station is now show this. Interesting so far.

Episode Detail: Sketches of Frank Gehry - American Masters

“Sketches of Frank Gehry” is director Sydney Pollack's absorbing profile of architect Gehry. It includes conversations at Gehry's home, studio and construction sites; his erratic drawings and their development into completed structures, including the new Disney Concert Hall in L.A.. Also: other Gehry-designed buildings; comments from, among others, architect Philip Johnson, Dennis Hopper, Michael Eisner, Barry Diller and Bob Geldof. The effort is Pollack's first feature-length documentary

I watched it.  I don't really like his work, but it was interesting viewing.

I watched part of it and I admit that I was jealous of the creativity that flows in his office, and I am attracted to the painterly arrangement of the shapes of his buildings.  However, I think that the failure of his buildings in the urban context kind of prove the point that architecture is not ideally pursued by artists or fountainhead type idealists.  I would prefer a liveable, beautifully constructed new urbanist or old urbanist city anyday than a city filled with monuments of individual's expression.
