I saw this place as the last stop on the Hidden Cleveland Tour.  They were very nice.  They let us into both 1BR and 2BR corporate suites.  The 1BR was $1200/mo.  I forget what the 2BR was, but it was going to be around $2000 I want to say...?

They were very tastefully furnished.  The kitchen had all steel appliances...the shower/bathroom had a skylight...there was exposed glazed brickwork and a really nice view of the Cleveland skyline poking over trees/buildings from the large living room windows, which I'm sure was all that much more amazing at night

anyone have any info on the TWO new vinyl record shops that have opened up in tremont in the past couple months?

Wow, possibly $2000 for a 2bd?  I think $1200 for a 1bd is expensive, unless all the utilities are included.  I emailed one of the sales people about a year ago, he told me a 1bd would run about $800.  I wonder if they hit some unforeseen expenses, or if the response was so good they jacked up the price.

These don't sound that expensive for month-to-month rates.  If they are year-long leases, then yes they sound a little high.

Also these are rates for furnished units, right?

What are they called?

I have pictures if anyone is interested.  I'm moving to Tremont Place Lofts shortly.  1BR run from 950-1300 with only Water & Internet being covered.  2BR run from 1300 and up.

Spread the wealth, shats.  Looking forward to them.

I am more interested in knowing what they charge for a weekend.

"I stayed at the Tremont Place Lofts (hate the name too) over the weekend while visiting Cleveland. They have and will keep a number of units as "Coporate Suites" for visitors who need short term stays for business or pleasure."

one is called phonographic arts and is a few doors down from visible voice books.

i visited today and had lots of fun browsing

i dunno the location of the other one

Ksonic99...

The nightly rates for one bedroom was $139 and two bedrooms is $189. These are full on aparments, furnished, full kitchens with pots/pans etc. flat screen, etc. I don't know if they will give discounts based on staying a weekend or longer but I'm sure they probably have some type of break. I think the cost is reasonable especially considering hotels are all close to $90 or $100 and this is so much better than a hotel experience. Some of the restaurants deliver and plus you can walk to many of them within a minute. Good Luck!

^Thanks for the info, sfbob!  I just booked a few nights at a hotel for an upcoming trip but might have to investigate this instead...

And I concur with everyone else about the name: it's rare that history spoon feeds developers something as cool as "Gospel Press"... and instead they go with the uber generic.  Go figure.  Small gripe though.

Thank you for the info sfbob.  I live in Tremont, this is a good option for visiting dignitaries aka Mom in Law.

You're welcome and good luck. Also the $139 was the total, so it wasn't $139 plus tax just so you know. I think your family will enjoy it because like I said it is so different than a hotel stay in every way. I am brining my family from SF to visit Cleveland in October and this is where we are staying. They can get such a better feel for Cleveland by staying here.

Lucky's was featured on Food TV's Diners Drive Inn and Dives last nite, so I head to search for it.

I just heard the next phase of this project is breaking ground.  It had been stagnant for quite awhile... good sign.

I hope they decide not to make it a gated community.  That sends a bad signal in my opinion.

too late.  It's already a gated community.

I saw this about LOOP in "Ohio Authority".  Looks like its much more than a record store.  Cool.

http://ohioauthority.com/articles/region/in-the-groove

"The former art studio was entirely gutted, and transformed into a two-floor café and record shop. Within the contemporary space, patrons will find a fully equipped coffee house with new equipment from Advanced Brewing Systems in Westlake and SS Kemp to produce perfect espressos and lattes. The cornerstone of the coffee operation will be the roasting machine, which the Loop staff will use to roast fresh beans each day.

Pastries and desserts will be available for the after-dinner crowd, and a cozy seating area and bar will provide patrons a place to relax and view a rotating collection of works created by local artists. When the weather allows, an outdoor patio will feature cool comfort – and a fire pit when the mercury dips a bit too low."

I drove through the other weekend, surprised to not see more development.  I've walked through the model and the finishes are excellent, floor plan is as good as any modern developments in the city, you get the view and the security and the tax abatement.  Wish I could afford a place there...

Looking forward to the new Turkish restaurant that is slated to open soon in the old Hotz Valley View location on Professor.

They are working late hours behind boarded windows to get the place done.

What Turkish restaurant?? I love Turkish but the only place is on Lee rd. which is not that easy to get to. AMN, do you have any more information. Where is the Hotz Valley View location. Thanks for the original post. So glad to see more ethnic restaurants are being added close to downtown.

Did Hotz close ?!!?!?!?!  That has been there forever...

Wow, Turkish on Professor and on W25h (from the Market District article).  And Indian on Detroit?  I like where this is headed.

oh thank god... this is a different location than the hotz cafe, which has been around for close to 100 years.

erase that maplink, i don't want anyone else finding this place.

You're correct Straphanger. This is not the Hotz everyone knows and loves. This has been an empty and somewhat dilapidated building since I moved into the neighborhood 3+ years ago.

I met the family starting the venture (and tried their yummy food at a block club meeting). They had some strong neighbor resistence, but prevailed.

It is near the corner of Professor and Starkweather, within eyeshot of Lucky's and Lily's and several other businesses which have popped up at that intersection.

My understanding is this will be far more affordable than your standard Tremont restaurant. I also understand they're hoping to open sometime in June, but I haven't spoken to anyone recently about it. I have seen the work going on. They're working incredible hours. I've sometimes seen them working when I take my dog out in the morning and still at it when I'm taking my dog for a walk after work.

Also, of note, that house which looks like it's falling apart was taken down to the studs and is nearly completely rehabbed at this point. And it still looks like it fits in the neighborhood, not like a new house tossed into the mix.

At least I think it's that one. It could be another on that block.

In any case, it's very nice to see. A friend of mine did the same to a house on Fruit, though this one looks even better.

What were they resisting?  They wanted it made into residential?  Or they just preferred the vacant storefront look?  Maybe they just don't like Turkish food...

The concerns were about parking and traffic, as usual.

Bingo.

Sounds like you've gone to a few public meetings in your day.

The latest issue of "Inside Tremont" mentions something called "Southside 6 and 7 Development" in their Block Club Happenings section.  It's across from Tremont Place.  Has anyone heard anything about this?

Wow, good find- those things look pretty sharp.  The explosion of single family house construction in Tremont over the past 15 years is a really under-reported success story.  Great to see the infill continuing with these.

During the artwalk this past Friday, I noticed that Istanbul Grill is now open on Professor near Starkweather.  Looked like a cool place, but I didn't stop in.

Also, Plain Dealer fashion editor Kim Crow is supposedly opening a boutique shop on the other end of Professor near West 10th in a space that's currently unoccupied.

I love going to Tremont and always take out of town visitors there.  While walking around several times this summer though, my wife & I have both commented that several of the streets are poorly lit.

The city needs to trim back the trees both above to let the streetlight shine down and really cut it back in many of the yards that reduce sight lines.  Other areas, there just isn't enough overhead light.  Either the lights need replaced or more need to be added.

A few main arteries there in Tremont would really benefit from a streetscape program, similar to what's been done on Detroit or Lorain & other parts of the city...

There is actually quite a lot of work that will going on with putting in lights that are below the tree canopy, especially along the major commercial strips (Professor in particular). I think that folks are loath to cut down trees, and pruning would need to take place on such a frequent level that it would essentially cripple said trees.

TWDC also recently completed its streetscape plan, which will be implemented over the next several years. But yes, the lighting concerns are quite valid and have been noticed.

I'm surprised there's no discussion of the MEGA DOPE modern structure going up on the corner of University and W. 11th. It's hard to tell if it's just a contemporary house or something more, but it's definitely modern as hell. It's still just a frame but all be damned, I see something amazing being built. Forum Architects are the ones behind this wall of windows of the city.

It is a private single family residence.

Yeah, I went past that earlier this week, and not sure what it is, but it seemed huge driving by it ... They were still working on it at like 8 at night.

one down, a million to go! :)

Yes, littering sucks. But this thread is about development projects. And thusly, off-topic posts are axed....

my littering comment was directly related to the development. :p

the big sewer project at abby and west 11th will apparently stretch through winter, according to the construction workers on the job. I am interested if anyone knows what is happening at abby and west 19th?
