May 26May 26 Went to Globe Iron to see Tennis last night, first time visiting the building in its new incarnation. It was a great show and the space - well, not sure it's going to be my favorite venue but for seeing a compelling act it's fine. They've thankfully done a good job of keeping the industrial vibe of the building.Globe Iron is in the former Metropolis/Trilogy nightclub complex at the corner of Elm and Spruce which (for those of a certain age) hosted Church on Sunday nights for yeeears starting in the early 90s. They've reconfigured the entrances from Elm/Spruce to the mid block portion of the building; looks like Spruce Street has been vacated for the loading/staging area. What used to be the side room is now the main 'lobby/bar/facilities' area. The main floor has changed a little - the upper walkway/mezzanine that used to run the length of the space is now about a third of that for what they call the "deck". Guess you have to pony up for access but it's at the far end of the main hall - on the other hand, there's no other seating - none. We lucked out snagging a leaning spot along the wall and had a pretty good view. Overheard two Gen-Zish people next to me saying how "yeah, this is a new venue!" and "this is probably the first time most of these people have been in here". Where we were standing, on a Sunday night, was right by my old "claimed" Church spot on the Metropolis dance floor (I was a bit of a club kid back then) from about 33 years ago 😐 😳 What threw me off even more - the show wrapped around 10:30; back in the day we didn't even get to the place until midnight 😜 IMG_9776.mov clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

(They’ve done a few co-headline tours, though, most recently with Johnny Marr and Psychedelic Furs.) For it, they’ll be playing their 1993 hit album Laid in full, which will be the first time they’ve ever done that. Each night will open with Laid, followed by a second set featuring “hits, rarities, deep cuts, and fan favorites.”“So looking forward to returning to North America,” says frontman Tim Booth. “This time the album Laid will be the centrepiece of the set lists with the addition of deep cuts and favorites. Catch us before the end of the world and soak in the uplift of our nine piece love bomb.”Wednesday, September 17th – Globe Iron – Cleveland, OHSaw James in the ‘90s. Tim Booth has aged a little less gently than I had expected, lol.

Erie St & N. State--ironically where the new Lake Co jail is under construction) . Reportedly at least one person is dead (unconfirmed) with as many as 50 to 100 shots fired!! Sadly the "old Painesville" is never far behind the new, though even this is extreme☹️ http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

Monday at 02:04 PM4 days Went to Pride again this year and had an amazing time as always - big shoutout to the LGBT Community Center for putting on another great festival! After seeing that they estimated about 25-30k attendees for this year's festival, I was a little surprised and honestly a bit sad after researching that attendance is a lot lower than other festivals around the country, even ones in similar-sized cities. Granted, the festival has been growing significantly over the past couple of years which is awesome, but still... Is the reason for this simply that the festival has only been going on for *only 10 years this year, or is it something else? Curious if anyone in the know has any thoughts/analysis... Regardless, I always have an amazing time but I can't help but wonder why it isn't bigger and better 🌈Can't wait to go again next year 🤩

I do feel like Cleveland's is on a major upward trajectory (again, just based on how much I hear about it and the pictures I see), so I could see it matching peer cities after a few more years.
