Hey fellow Clevelanders.  I used to make these lists several years ago...and inspired by recent cabin fever, wanted to pass along.    Not sure if there is a better place to post / maintain,

not another Cleveland heartbreaker.  say it aint so!  Come on lets get this!!

Where is Cleveland.com???

Our lead is down to 178

I just got Patricia heaton to retweet the post to vote for Cleveland...for whatever that is worth...it goes out to 75,000 people.

I tried getting some people but now we are going down quickly :(. Wonder what gave them a big push at the end here.

Also if you vote from a different browser it will let you vote again from the same computer. I had chrome, firefox and IE and it let me vote from each one.

We are down by almost 200 now

All it takes is 1 of the major news stations to mention this on the 7 o'clock news to turn this around.

Or does anyone know any sites to post on to get some help from Columbus, Akron, Toledo, etc?

cleveland.com FINALLY gets it up.  Gosh i hate them.  May be too late...they needed to have it up during lunch at work.

there was an awful lull at dinnertime here in CLE, killed us.

We got a re-tweet from Elvis Duran!  Hopefully that helps?

Unless something crazy happens, we lost :(

Yup... too bad... but I have to say it was much closer than I thought it would be

As I've said before, for a city/region our size, our social media usage is very small.  But our local media not jumping on the bandwagon was a major dropped ball.  Although Cleveland+ did post and tweet about this, our news papers, radio stations and tv outlets did nothing.  #FAIL

A few more updates

Were any of you with me at the Cleveland Tweed Ride this weekend?? The rain let up just in time for the ride at 3pm.  Rode from Mall A around the city and stopped at East 4th for a tea party at Erie Island and at Happy Dog for hot dogs and some beers.  Met some great people and had a blast!  Pics from the event here: https://www.facebook.com/TheFantasticClevelandTweedRide

^Awesome photos!  All kidding aside, men's suiting + bike = sharp look, IMHO.

confiteordeo and i are in the back row of the cover photo, immediately to the right of the gap. i'm the taller one.

I knew there'd be UOers there!  I'm to the left of the gap and one row down in the white-collared shirt and gray jacket.

Just a reminder that the Cowan Pottery Symposium is this weekend at the Rocky River Public Library:

Saturday, May 5, 2012.

This program should appeal to those interested in art, art history, art pottery, and Cleveland history.

Cleveland's Ingenuityfest to move this year to warehouses and lakefront

Ingenuityfest is on the move again.

The 2012 Cleveland Festival of Art and Technology is set for Friday, Sept. 14, through Sunday, Sept. 16, at docks 32 and 30 north of Cleveland Browns Stadium and the Great Lakes Science Center.

The festival, which was presented in 2010 and 2011 on the lower level of the Veterans Memorial (Detroit-Superior) Bridge, will be held in two large warehouses and on the lakefront.

The new location is a result of a collaboration among the festival, the city of Cleveland and the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority.

^ Agreed! Last year I felt the bridge lost its wow factor or its new experience. Idk, last year just seemed kind of boring to me, while I love the first year under the bridge. Glad they are mixing it up.

Thought it would be fun for everyone to list their top 5 favorite Cleveland festivals. You have a lot to choose from. Winterfest, Hessler Street Fair, Feast of Assumption, Ingenuity Fest, Taste of Tremont, Clifton Arts and Music Fest, City Hop, Parade the Circle, and many more. So what are your top 5?

In no particular order:

Burning River

Ingenuity

Hessler

Winterfest

Weapons of Mass Creation (believe me, this will get big)

http://wmcfest.com/

BP Riverfest (sighs)

1) Feast of the Assumption (Little Italy)

2) St. Patrick's Day Parade (Downtown)

3) Cleveland Museum of Art Summer Solstice Party (University Circle)

4) Cleveland Orchestra free Public Square concert (Downtown)

5) Sparx City Hop

Honorable Mention: Parade the Circle

In no particular order:

Feast of Assumption

Hessler Street Fair

Winterfest

Ingenuity

City Hop (In 2009)

This year im really trying to get to more festivals than in the past, so maybe this list will change.

Good list Murray Hill. St Patricks day slipped my mind. Im already rethinking my list... Ha!

Feast of Assumption (because I'm a wanna-be Italian)

Clifton Arts and Music Fest (because I can walk to it)

Ingenuity (probably the most interesting because it's more than just a bunch of art galleries on parade)

The Hooley (big Irish party held just yesterday at Kamm's Corners!)

Sparx (for the sheer size of it)

City hop was really good the year that Taste of Tremont was the same day. I had my grandparents go and they loved it, and really enjoyed Tremont. The next year they were disappointed when they got to Tremont and there was just some civil war thing going on.

How could have anyone forgot:

the Cleveland Film Festival ?!   (yes, it's indoors, but still a festival!)

Ingenuity

Burning River

Hessler Street Fair

CMJ Music fest [RIP]

Slightly offtopic, but what exactly was the BP Riverfest ? From what I gathered, it was some festival in the flats in the early-mid 90s ? How long it did last for ? What was done there ? Main Sponsors/Funders ? What was the atmosphere ? What led to its demise ?

Updates into June now...we're in full festival season now!

More updates when I get time.

Can anyone confirm if the Asiatown Festival is happening this weekend??  Their website still has not been updated:

May 19-20: Asiatown Cleveland Festival http://www.asiatowncleveland.com/

Clevelandasianfestival.org

Easy enough -- thanks!

So is KJP leading this??

May 12: Midwest Railway Preservation Society tour (Downtown)

http://www.cleveland.com/sun/all/index.ssf/2012/05/tour_railway_roundhouse_at_may.html

No, I'm not involved with them or any historical groups. Their events were part of National Train Day, which has railroad-themed events held throughout the country.

There are a lot of Cleveland fests I love, but I'll go with these for my top five (no particular order) based on my experiences...

Hessler Street Fair - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=812

Larchmere Porch Festival - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=940

Jak of All Trades Fest - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=1191

Cleveland Asian Festival - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=805

Tremont Greek Festival - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=842

These other fests are fun too!

Clifton Arts and Music Fest - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=917

Feast of the Assumption - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=89

Romanian Festival - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=92

IngenuityFest - http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=125

Brite Winter Fest - http://ohiofestivals.net/1-brite-winter-festival-revisited-cleveland-february-18-2012/

There are some things above that aren't really festivals, but events. Not sure what the criteria is?

The Greek festivals are far and away my favorites. Annunciation in Tremont, St. Demetrios in Rocky River, St. Paul's in Broadview. I would go Feast of the Assumption and Hessler Street Fair for my other 2.

In no particular order:

Ingenuity Festival

Film Festival

Larchmere Porchfest

Cleveland Asian Festival (this weekend!!!)

Circlefest

But cannot forget about Hessler Street Fair, Studio-A-Rama, Brite Winter Fest, Clifton Arts and Music Fest, Burning River

Taste of Tremont

Solstice Party

St. Patrick's Day

Feast of the Assumption

Burning Riverfest
