May 17, 201213 yr ...and if anyone is "stuck" in the far eastern fringes of the Cleveland metro area, feel free to go to the International Cuisine Celebration in Painesville--Saturday from 3pm-8pm on Main Street-- http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
May 17, 201213 yr Where is everyone gonna park?? Hopefully at a Rapid station! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 17, 201213 yr Where is everyone gonna park?? All that I will need is a solid (but not too thick) tree
May 17, 201213 yr And I'm only going to be able to squeeze in a few things... - Indians game Friday night - Rembrandt exhibit at Cleveland Museum of Art - Hessler St Fair - Asiatown Festival - Casino?? Then I gotta spend time with the fam!
May 20, 201213 yr My favorites: CMA Summer Solstice - I had never been until last year's event; this brought together people from every disparate circle I run in. And every square foot of the whole, incredible museum was open to attendees, admitted on a progressive basis (high-priced ticket holders first, and so on). For me, this is now "a must attend" until I drop dead - it's that good. Taste of Tremont - You have the option to nosh and drink everything from Iron Chef spots like Lolita to newer (but terrific) places like Bac, Istanbul Grille, etc., to what I consider the best sources to get good food of any ethnicity - the local churches (Polish, Korean, Latino and everything in between - last year, La Iglesia de Primitiva had the best empanadas I've ever been blessed to taste), and the occasionally needed cheap drink and A/C from the local VFWs along Professor. Cleveland Film Festival - I know people who use a week of vacation days for this; I'm not in that camp but I definitely see why they would. I wish I had more time to see more films, but I'm glad to see how they've grown over the years. St. Patrick's Day - when I worked downtown, it would be great to go out for lunch, see the streets overcrowded, catch a glimpse of the parade and get back to work once people started getting a little too drunk and rowdy for my tastes. Now that I'm a little older and no longer working downtown, I can still appreciate an event that brings *that* many people downtown even though I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it at peak time :-) City Xpressions (RIP) - This was in my top 3, but this festival hit its stride right around the time the economy took a swan dive. For those who don't know, this was a festival held across from the West Side Market, where it was a mix of aerosol artists, b-boy/b-girl dance groups doing their thing and then the spillover crowd from the West Side Market. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 21, 201213 yr Cleveland International Film Festival announces dates for 2013 and adds a full day of films Next year's Cleveland International Film Festival is guaranteed to be bigger. For its 37th rendition, the festival will add a full day of films. "We keep growing but we can't add any more theaters," said the festival's executive director Marcie Goodman on Monday. "We're already using all of the theaters at Tower City. The only thing we can add is time." Next year's festival will run 12 days instead of the usual 11 and will open on a Wednesday night instead of the traditional Thursday. It will also take place entirely in April for the first time since 1994, running April 3 – 14. http://www.cleveland.com/moviebuff/index.ssf/2012/05/cleveland_international_film_f_36.html

Beginning today and continuing throughout the summer, the public art project in downtown Cleveland will show off giant guitars for visitors and residents. One absolutely loved it. The other was wondering since when did Cleveland have so many dirty people and who would want to bring them all together in one place.

May 31, 201213 yr If a gathering of people on a 50 ft L-shaped street, on one lonely little weekend in May, contains our dirtiest people...then we're doing pretty good. Fact is, there are large swaths that go on for miles, or key intersections (like W. 25th & Detroit), that out-dirty anything on Hessler. I love this town, but we're not that pretty.

The other was wondering since when did Cleveland have so many dirty people and who would want to bring them all together in one place. I thought the preferred term was 'crunchy'? ;-) I went to Kent State, so I've seen my share of tie-dye, patchouli, caucasian dreadlocks, jam bands, people having happy lettuce-inspired epiphanies, etc. - I'm more than happy to let others enjoy it on my behalf :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

July 20, 201212 yr http://www.parkpartyinfo.com/party/index.php?option=com_eventlist&view=adcategoryevents&id=1&Itemid=15 Okay, you’re not gonna hear any big names at this event (I for one had never heard of the Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad until now; which, I know means nothing), but that doesn't mean you can't hear some decent music. Tonight @6:00 a performer by the name of Jenn Cristy--a regular here for the past few years (once a backup singer for fellow Hoosier John Mellencamp)--returns. And tomorrow @5:00 pm there's a self-described soul band from Chicago called The Right Now with a terrific vocalist.(& a lot of Cleveland-area bands, of course) It's free. Isn't that what really matters? Tune in if you have a chance! (full schedule in blue link above) (just don't judge the event on this current band (5:38pm)! I promise it gets better--lol at least I hope :| Streaming Now Thru Sunday--Noon to Midnite-- http://www.ustream.tv/embed/11556377 7/21 @5:00 http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
