thank for highlighting that last sentence and making me giggle today.

nothing funny about it. income wise it has a lot of poor people. there are no nationally known restaurant chains in the city. never were. very few little local food joints either. but now....oh boy applefuckinbees. things are lookin up.

Jeez - Lorain has a Denny's and a Ponderosa, now we're movin' on up to Applebee's!  Eatin' good in the 'hood!  (When I lived in Alliance, I was astounded to find people standing in a line out the door to eat at Applebee's - could there be a worse excuse for bland chain food?)

^ those are at the midway mall which is technically in elyria, no?

Denny's is on Henderson Drive on the east side (used to be the Double R Ranch House), Ponderosa is on Oberlin Avenue across from the Knights of Columbus hall.

LORAIN — A Wal-Mart store that could employ about 400 people is coming to Lorain’s Lighthouse Village shopping center on Leavitt Road, developer Tom Kuluris said yesterday. The store could open in fall 2009 or early 2010.

 

Kuluris said he thinks the approximately 200,000 square foot Wal-Mart will be a supercenter, offering groceries as well as general merchandise.

LORAIN — The new Walmart Supercenter, a 186,135-square-foot store at 4380 Leavitt Road, is scheduled to be completed in August and open in October, said Tom Kuluris, president of shopping center planner Liberty Development.

 

“I can tell you based on our experience, everything is going great, nothing negative at all has happened and everything seems to be going on schedule,” he said...
