A Cincinnati duo is bringing a new Cuban and Puerto Rican street food restaurant to the Mount Lookout Square space most recently occupied by Annabel's.

Sean Morgan and Brad Johnson are opening El Camino at 1004 Delta Ave. on Mount Lookout Square in mid-November. The space was most recently occupied by Annabel's, which closed in September after seven years of service and the retirement of founder Annabel Stolley.

Cuban and Puerto Rican you say?

I'll be there.

Cuban and Puerto Rican and it shows a pic of tacos?! Just call it Latin fusion

Sounds nice, interesting touch with the octopus.

That reminds me of a bar near where I grew up, that had a monkey who smoked cigarettes.

Or the McDonald's off I-70 in the middle of Missouri that announces the existence of its 3,500 Gallon Shark Tank! for 100 miles in each direction.

But seriously, all of these bars are the exact same.  Yawn.

^Then why do you still post here. If you find everything that doesn't cater to your exact mindset so boring, why bother? It's not like we don't already know your opinion before you state it.

I don't know what you expect. It's a bar, you can't exactly reinvent the wheel when it comes to bars..

It's true. I remember when I got back from Europe, people were like, "What were the bars like there?" and I'm like, "Uh... bars. Well, they don't have as much brown liquor in them."

A fast-casual chicken restaurant specializing in Nashville-style hot chicken is coming to Cincinnati.

Louisville-based Joella's Hot Chicken is eyeing locations in Cincinnati. Co-owner Bruce Rosenblatt told me they have letters of intent at two locations.

The Banks' newest restaurant is coming to an unexpected space

freedom-center*750xx750-422-0-51.jpg

A Louisville-based, Southern-inspired restaurant is coming to the Banks next year, but it won't be in a traditional restaurant space.

The Business Courier first reported that the group behind Doc Crow's Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar was looking to open a location at the Banks. That location, to be named Doc's on the Banks, will open in the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in late 2016.

I wonder how the developers of The Banks feel about this new restaurant calling themselves "at The Banks" when it's not technically part of that development. Just like how the Moerlein Lager House also isn't part of The Banks.

Let's just take a moment and understand how awesome Doc Crow's is in Louisville. So. Good. Their raw bar is amazing. If they do the same/similar concept in Cincinnati, it will be very popular.

The file photo in the article isn't the location where this will go...  :?

"It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton

Whatever the bar was that opened in the old Chicago Gyros place about six months ago has permanently closed.  I never saw *anyone* in that place!

I think it was a deli. I don't think they sold alcohol. I could be wrong. Smiling Moose Deli or something?

It was originally called Smiling Moose deli and was part of a chain that nobody in Cincinnati knew was a chain. So then the same owners rebranded the restaurant called 200 West and kept a similar concept. Jake, are you saying that 200 West has now closed?

Yes, whatever it was called, it has closed and there is a sign in the window to call Nat Commissar if you are interested in the space.

In related news, Chicago Gyros appears to be doing a solid business directly across the street from its old location, and it has also upheld its decades-old tradition of having at least 2-3 fine waitresses on the payroll.

^Good.  You initial post scared me into thinking that Chicago Gyros itself was gone!

Calhoun/McMillan's had a lot of vacancies recently. Lime left, Potbelly's is gone, Firehouse Subs closed, 200 West is closed, and there still hasn't been anything to fill in the old Starbucks, or Five Guys, or Yogurt Vi, or that one vacant storefront at USquare that never had anything in it. I assume the new monstrosity at McMillan/Clifton is going to have even more ground-level restaurant space?

“To an Ohio resident - wherever he lives - some other part of his state seems unreal.”

I had no idea Firehouse subs or Potbelly were gone. Though there are about 63 sub places around campus, so it's a little saturated. I'm surprised Potbelly is gone, though.

Don't forget Arby's at W. Clifton & McMillan.  Whatever that "COMPUTERS" place is is still there though.

Meanwhile, the Hookah Lounge business is booming.  The old Gold Star on Short Vine is now a hookah bar.  Also, there is now an after-hours hookah bar that has a lot of police calls diagonal to Murphy's Pub.

^That Arby's was gross. Didn't they close for a health code violation or am I making that up?

I wouldn't mind seeing a Wendy's in uptown somewhere. The new Wendy's near OSU is pretty nice, mostly for not being a standard suburban one plopped in the middle of an urban area.

“To an Ohio resident - wherever he lives - some other part of his state seems unreal.”

The TUC food court and the restaurants upstairs gets a lot of students' money. Now that campuses aren't all cafeterias more money stays on them.

Lime (which was owned by Ruby Tuesday) just closed 11 stores and is selling off the remaining stores.

I had no idea Potbelly closed. That store has been opening since the early days of University Park Apartments.

They need some other businesses around campus that aren't second-rate sandwich and burrito shops. I'm surprised that more mall-type stores don't have locations there. I'm sure plenty of students would shop there rather than having to drive up to Rookwood or Kenwood.

The problem is only going to get worse when THE VERGE opens and adds even more retail space to that strip.

Mall-type stores won't open locations where there's no Christmas shopping. Also, malls do a lot of business in the summer when children are out of school. There are also few middle-age women in the area which is the target demo of many stores.

The waitress we had at Longhorn Steakhouse on Sunday was high. Scratching herself incessantly, unable to make steady eye contact, rambled incoherently about her dad's Navy career.

More importantly, which Longhorn???

Northgate Mall.

I was just asked by someone at work if Golden Corral is open on Thanksgiving.

Some friends of mine were out riding their Harleys with one of their dads. They stopped to eat in Athens but the dad refused to eat at any of the local places. He peeled off and rode all the way to Chillicothe alone just to get Golden Corral.

Pop-up restaurant lands permanent OTR space

A Cincinnati chef who has been serving pop-up dinners in his apartment, at a coffee shop or on a local farm has found a permanent home, the Enquirer reports.

Ryan Santos will open Please at 14th and Clay streets in Over-the-Rhine in the late spring. He told the Courier earlier this year that he planned to find a permanent home for his dining concept and has been searching ever since.

A new grilled cheese restaurant could be coming to Cincinnati

Cincinnatian wants to bring top-rated NYC pizza to OTR

A Cincinnati transplant who hails from the East Coast wants to bring a slice of New York City to Over-the-Rhine in the form of one of Brooklyn's highest-rated pizzerias.

Ryan Vaughan plans on opening Paulie Gee's near Findlay Market, hopefully by late summer. He didn't always want to open a pizzeria. But he does have a wood-fired pizza oven in his back yard.

Whatever happened to the modern Indian eatery that was supposed to be coming to OTR? (I'm not a WCPO Insider so I can't see the article.)

Does anyone know if they still plan to reopen Tucker's?

If they can get a delivery agreement with Rhinegeist, they'll do a bang up business, I'm sure.

Does anyone know if they still plan to reopen Tucker's?

I've not yet read the article on Tucker's in this month's Cincinnati Magazine:
