Restaurants in Lebanon and Franklin will close in the next week, and many more could face the same fate. All of this comes after several restaurants shut down earlier in 2024. Frisch’s said in court filings this week that eviction cases have been filed against more than 20 of its restaurants in Southwest Ohio. More than half a dozen of those stores have been identified, according to a report by Courier media partner WKRC-TV Local 12. “It honestly breaks my heart, because I’m close with the managers. Some managers have been there 14 years or longer,” said Frisch's employee Ashley Ferguson. “I just don’t understand what has happened.” Ferguson said that for months there have been troubling signs at the Frisch’s where she works on Germantown Road in Middletown. Yes, I think this place is going to be pushing a lot of heavily discounted corporate blocks of memberships in order to try to make numbers work. I don’t think they are going to see many single person public memberships. But with that model it kinda turns into a lower level white collar co working space/food hall rather than the “exclusive” polished hive they seem to be envisioning. November 13, 2024Nov 13 I agree this seems like a stretch to make this concept work. With well established clubs like QCC, University Club of Cincinnati and Metropolitan Club and to a lesser extent the CAC is there really a market for something like this? I am skeptical.

Yeah but this club is inside Pure Romance, and is connected to a hotel, so maybe it's more of an Eyes Wide Shut type of club that will have a different clientele. Only half joking.
November 14, 2024Nov 14 Union Commons, destination anchored by Braxton Brewing, Dewey's Pizza, Graeter's Ice Cream, to host grand opening A new Cincinnati-area family destination is opening later this month. Braxton Brewing Co., Graeter’s Ice Cream and Dewey’s Pizza have announced the official grand opening of Union Commons, a family-oriented destination in Union, Ky., located at 8905 US-42 near Kroger Marketplace. A celebration will be held Nov. 27, however Braxton’s taproom and the Dewey’s restaurant will open their doors Nov. 25. The commons is a collaboration between the three Cincinnati staples. A Graeter’s Scoop Shop complete with a drive-thru was the first to open last November. With both Braxton and Dewey’s now slated to open later this month, the project, which has been in the works since 2020, will finally be complete. Maybe this just shows my own prudishness... but my first thought was "I don't want to be known as a dues-paying member to a club inside Pure Romance". Is there really a market for this kind of thing?

Yonutz Fantastical Donuts and Ice Cream will open its first Louisville location in early January in a nearly 1,500-square-foot space. The master franchisees for Kentucky, Greater Cincinnati and Southern Indiana said the store will serve as the training ground for the new locations Yonutz plans to open in the Tri-State region. Yonutz is known for its smashed doughnuts, doughnuts that are sliced, filled, smashed and topped. Yonutz also offers gourmet doughnuts, mini doughnuts, ice cream and milkshakes. November 19, 2024Nov 19 Black Coffee Lounge to open second location in Northern Kentucky A Cincinnati-born coffee shop is expanding into Northern Kentucky. Black Coffee is planning to open a second location in the proposed $8.7 million Covington Pointe development at Covington Central Riverfront, also known as the former IRS site. Covington City Council will vote to approve the project, which is being led by Covington-based Funke Real Estate, Nov. 19. Jodi Funke, president of Funke Real Estate, said as she was planning the development, she realized a coffee shop would be perfect for one of the parcels of land. So, she reached out to Black Coffee owner Means Cameron and his business partner Tony Jones. Morelia Group plans to build Madison Parke on 3.85 acres of vacant, cleared land at 4710 to 4722 Madison Road, immediately east of the railroad overpass across from Madison Bowl. Wildweed, which was opened in July by chef-owners David and Lydia Jackman, was the only Ohio restaurant – and the only in the Greater Cincinnati region – to make the 2024 Esquire list. Only 35 restaurants nationwide, all of which opened within the last year, were ranked. Wildweed is located in a 1,848-square-foot space at 1301 Walnut St. as part of Cincinnati Center City Development Corp.'s $10.6 million Columbia Flats project. December 9, 2024Dec 9 AJ's Cheesesteaks food truck expands with the opening of its first brick-and-mortar restaurant A Cincinnati-based food truck is expanding into its first brick-and-mortar. AJ’s Cheesesteaks held a soft opening Dec. 9 for its new storefront at 4301 Whetsel Ave. in Madisonville. The 900-square-foot restaurant is located in the former Agape Cafe space, which closed last summer. AJ’s is known for its variations of the famous Philly cheesesteak, including the chipotle Philly, smoked bacon ranch Philly and the jalapeno Swiss bacon Philly. The restaurant also offers a variety of chicken cheesesteaks, wings, fries and loaded nachos.
