Unless I saw the wrong space, Oceanarie doesn't even look close to being complete/like any real work is going on in there.  It is the corner space across the street from Nada and the Cadilac Ranch in the 580 building right?

did someone say anything about oceanaire?  they are definitely not opening in the near future.....and yes, they are in the same intersection as nada and cadillac ranch.

Well seeing that this is the Cincinnati Restaurant thread, I thought it was appropriate to ask about the status of a restaurant due to open in downtown Cincinnati. Does anyone know when it is supposed to be ready?

I'm not sure when it's opening, but there were people working in there this morning.  It looks like framing has been done, and some dry wall has gone up.  There is more info about Oceanaire in the thread about the 580 Building.

Nada is very close to opening....looked in today and they had the bar fully stocked...plasma tv was on behind the bar...cases of corona on the floor.  People seemed somewhat ready to go, provided the last minute debris pick-up, sweeping etc. takes place.....although the exterior entrance was shrouded in a plastic tarp, so they still have work to do there....and they obviously will need to work on their patio at some point (although not a priority at this time of the year).  I have no idea what the upstairs looks like, but I like how they reconfigured the first floor, as well as the way the stairway upstairs....

Oceanaire has made a lot of progress....that space looks a lot different than it did 4 weeks ago.  That will come together quickly once the basic structure, banquettes etc. are in place.

The new Mythos in former Atlanta Bread at 4th and Walnut is up and running.

Nada is open to realtors this week. I was supposed to go tonight, but I have to cancel. Something else came up. :(

The new Mythos in former Atlanta Bread at 4th and Walnut is up and running.

Damn...that was quick.  The owners of Mythos have sure been aggressive in the Downtown market lately.  How many locations do they have Downtown now...3 or 4?  It almost is becoming an arms race between Mythos and Skyline between who can have the most Downtown locations.

The hours for all Mythos locations suck.

^As do the hours for all of the Skyline locations...coincidence, I think not.

How late is the new Mythos open?

How late is the new Mythos open?

Mythos' hours are worse the Skyline's hours.  THe new Mythos is only open Monday - Friday, and they close at 4 PM.  I think all of of the Mythos locations are closed by 4, and none are open on the weekends.

Damn. We need to voice our opinions to the managers/owners for this crap.

So Mythos is another downtown business that at least half of the downtown residents will never be able to enjoy because of the hours.  Cincinnatus, I thought you knew the owners?

^That is really unfortunate...I think (hope) that things will start to change with some of these businesses hesitating to make the changes they really should make to accommodate the changing demographics of Downtown.

I went to highschool with the owner's son, Jorgi.

those greeks

4 PM?  That's weak.  Damn...at least stay open through dinner time!

I am an example of a downtown resident who has never been to Mythos, ever.  I did see that Pot Belly is advertising on its corporate website about the new location in downtown Cincinnati.  I love Pot Belly!!  I can't wait for that to open.  It will be a hard choice between Ingredients or Pot Belly......

I understand why everyone wants these restaurants (mythos, skyline, Paula's, Fresh, etc.) to have longer hours, however I also see their side as well.  Do you really think they would get alot of business between 4pm and 1am?  I know that if I'm going out after work, I want a beer so I'm going to some place like McCormick & Schmick's.  Every downtown (including NYCity, Chicago) has many more places open for lunch than for dinner and in most cases, if you're a restaurant without a liquor license than you're not going to be able to compete downtown for dinner.

Potbelly is much more reasonably priced...and has those to-die-for sugar cookies.

These are valid points, but Skylines across the city typically do quite well during the dinner hours...and depending on the location they stay busy late at night for the after-hours crowd (Downtown would certainly fit in here).  Now as for the pure sandwich type places and what not, I get what you're saying.

Or at least open for lunch on the weekends.

The Skyline on 7th would be slammed at 3 a.m. on the weekends!

^Yup...and if people actually knew about them being open later you could even see some spill-over at the one up closer to Court Street & Vine.

I agree

I went to Nada last night, just for drinks so I can't comment on the food (though I heard the entrees are pretty cheap). I don't dig the awkward wine glasses or 5 dollar domestic beer but the interior was amazing!

The domestics at Nada are $4

Apparently not the Budweiser. I know what you're saying though; I saw the menu. Somehow the price changed when she brought it to me  :wtf:

Some big news from this weekend that I forgot to post.  If you have never been to Sugar'n'Spice in Bond Hill for breakfast you are missing out, but if you have you probably remember the Sock Guy.  After about a year's hiatus while there was construction going on next door he was MIA, but I am pleased to report that he was back Saturday morning.  Just in time to get you winter wool socks  :-D

From the 2005 Best of Citybeat...

Best Side at Sugar ‘N Spice:

The Sock Man. Pull up on a Friday or Saturday at the breakfast hot spot anywhere between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and in the parking lot you’re likely to find Loyd Merida and thousands of socks. “They just call me The Sock Man,” the Oakley resident says — which we’d also heard — and rightfully so: He’s been selling the foot furnishings out of his van while doing ministry work now for 31 years, which the Lord called him to do, he says. Bin after bin brims with every sock imaginable, from white and sporty to frilly girls’ anklets. And at three pair for $2 (three pair for $1.50 for kids), it’s a steal. Sugar ‘N Spice,

While this isn't an opening or closing in Cincinnati, it does discuss a Cincinnati restaurant.  I don't know how I feel about this...I would like Cincinnati restaurants to be just that- Cincinnati restaurants.  We have already given Columbus Skyline, Graeters, and now Montgomery Inn... :|

Montgomery Inn coming to Dublin

Monday,  December 3, 2007 3:08 PM

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Montgomery Inn, known for its ribs, will open a location in Dublin by late summer, the company said today.

see link for article.

Ah, yes. Another cincinnati based restaurant pervading throughout Ohio :) I'm a big fan of Montgomer Inn ribs. Smart move incorporating it into Lasrosa's pizza as well :)

False.

Mr. Cincinnati has spoken.

Cincinnati is taking over Ohio.

Mr. Tarbell is here?

Well, his mini-me, so to speak.

Cincinnati is taking over Ohio.

You are giving Dublin too much credit.

I just wish domestics actually meant domestics.  Time and time again, I see Sam Adams on import lists at many of the restaurants I frequent.  So do they have Sam Adams at Nada and is it on the domestics list for $4?

lol ... Maybe I should replace "Ohio" with "WORLD". ;)

I agree, someone at cadillac ranch called sam adams an import.  I can't remember crossing an international borders between liberty and fifth

Hell, it doesn't even leave the city, since it's brewed at Liberty and Central Parkway!

LOL! Sam Adams... it's named after one of our founding fathers for Christs sake.

Wait a minute, the Lord called him to do ministry while selling socks out of his van?  I guess God has a plan for everyone, no matter how ridiculous.

Amen, brother.

Just walked by the square and noticed that Pot Belly's is now open.  The posted hours are 6:30-7:00 M-F and 11:30-4:00 on Saturday.

Wow, that was fast.  When I was home for Thanksgiving break potbellys didnt even look close to being ready.

I stopped in for drinks the same night! It's definitely a hip place and I'll bet the food is killer.

So that sucks that they are going to close by 7:00?  I'm not familiar with Pot Belly's, but it would be nice if they where open as late as Rock Bottom or Via Vite

I agree that they should be open later than 7.  Those Saturday hours especially are a joke.  With the ice rink open for the next few months, there will be families looking for quick, inexpensive places to eat on or near the square.  Pot Belly's could easily fill that void.
