^^I wonder if Mainstay will be a live music venue as well.  All that space...I'd hope so.

Although with all the plasma televisions you said they were installing, I don't know if this sounds like my kind of place.

Who knows...lets just hope for something NOT cheesy

From a July 30th Enquirer article:

Heuser is co-owner of Bang Nightclub, which opened in 2007 at 314 W. Fourth St. This spring he bought the building next door to Bang to help his friend Joe Creighton open a restaurant called Boss Cox, set to open this fall. He has another group of partners for a clothing store called Unheard Of that opened across the street and has a lease for the old Poison Room spot at Fifth and Plum to convert it to the Mainstay Rock Bar sometime this fall.

So I wonder if it'll have a nightclub feel to it.  I really do like Unheardof and it's whole look, which is obviously different than Bang's deal.  Let's hope that Heuser is going for diverse options in the Soapbox.

Mythos was open till 9 p.m. tonight, I don't know if this is permanent or not.

Mythos Express on Vine St. has a sign saying they are open from 11AM - 9PM Monday through Saturday.

There's no way this is going to happen.

Perhaps I should re-emphasize.

[Kidding.]

I guess my sarcasm wasn't picked up either.

Yep, that's the one. I guess I should have said "vine st." Ooops!

Oh damn ... here it is ... I wonder, I wonder ... what could be coming soon!

The building of the former five-star Maisonette restaurant at 114 E. Sixth St. has been sold to Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation, the property’s owner Michael J. Comisar confirmed Friday.

Great news

that spot would be bounded by the streetcar on both sides

Grammer's in Over-the-Rhine is going to re-open this weekend. It had a bad fire a couple of months ago, which completely destroyed several parts of it. Owner Martin Wade planned to re-open as a full-scale restaurant after cleaning up and demolishing the damaged parts.  But the kitchen was too badly damaged, and they'll be open instead just as a bar and just on the weekend. For now. They still hope to serve a restaurant menu, as soon as they finish the repairs. There will be brats and metts and a few other items available for now. Open 4 p.m.-2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.  1442 Walnut St., 513-421-8300

Channel 5 has an 10+ minute tour/interview of the new Rockwood restaurant with the Bengal's Chinedum Ndukwe and the beautiful Sandra Ali.

So 3CDC now owns the Maisonette...they are taking over!!

I'm assuming that this is including La Normandy building. Does anyone know if the floors above La Normandy are vacant. Those would make great condos

I'd think/hope it would be either retail, restaurant, bar, or club/lounge.

I also heard Universal Grill was sold. Anyone else hear this?

We're blowin up! ;)

Do you mean the restaurant location or the name?  I really miss the old Universal Grill.  It was a good casual place to have dinner and a drink.  Those fried Twinkies drizzled in raspberry sauce were pretty good, too.  :)

The location.

Universal Grill = Hamburger Mary's, or Carol's?  I forget which wonderful gay-friendly establishment became what...

The floors above la Normandie are indeed vacant. They were always a part of the old Maisonette/La Normandie complex. As for condos, they are awfully narrow for that. That building is only 15' or so wide.

HM's became Universal Grill.

Carol's became Union Station Video Cafe which then became Burrito Joes.

Chipotle - Fountain Square

Cincinnati, OH 45202

Open M-F, 11A-8P Weekends

Not sure if this means that M-F hours are forthcoming or if it's 11A-8P daily.  Still, pretty great hours for downtown.  I hope they're open until 10P on weekdays though.

The hours posted on their door do not match the hours on the website (which is above).  According to the sign on the door, they will be open 11 AM - 10 PM every day.

HOTT DAMN!!!

Does anyone have any info on Jalapeno's in Kenwood?  (It's behind the Ritz camera place, near the Galeria with the Friday's and Penn Station.)  It seems to have closed rather suddenly, and there is some construction/work being done there.  Any one know what's going on?

I think all the Jalapeno's locations in Cincy are closed.

New pizza joint coming to 914 Race Street

http://www.urbancincy.com/2008/11/new-pizza-joint-for-914-race-street.html

Reliable sources close to UrbanCincy are indicating that a pizza joint may be on tap for 914 Race Street (GoogleMap) downtown. The almost 100 year-old building (built 1910) is located directly north of popular wine shop City Cellars, and is in an area of Downtown that is in desperate need of more activity generating businesses.

The building is a three story building that boasts "newly renovated" apartments on the upper levels. The 1,392 square foot street-level space is currently vacant and marked for retail. A full liquor license has been applied for at this address, and after further investigation a pizza place seems to be what is in store from owner.

Stay tuned for updated information as it becomes available.

What pizza place? Local, chain? Awesome news, that will fit that area well.

I've been on the hunt to find out what's going in at the Maisonette. This is what I'm most curious about. No luck so far.

Any leads out there? Anyone?

My family used to go there about once a week, and the owners told us that the rents were rising in Kenwood, and that they could no longer afford it, and that they are hoping to open a restaurant in the Mason area.  Sad news...

Mason?  Blech!

A full liquor license for a pizza joint? Must have a bar in there as well. Hmm.

Hopefully this means they will have dinner hours as well.  I doubt it would be worth paying for a liquor license with only M-F lunch hours.    It's just my guess though.

Maybe it will be a Dewey's?? They always have bars in their restaurants.  This area seems like kind of an odd location for a restaurant though, as it always seemed kind of dead to me.

it will not be a deweys

Went to It's JUST CREPES on court st today.  It is really good and they have Saturday hours for the local residents!

Rando is a Westsider.  LaRosa's is a Westside establishment.  Maybe the new pizza place = LaRosa's.

Ok, I really don't think so but just thought I'd throw that out there . . . :)

I'd love to see a Pomodori's! Great beer and pizza!

i think rando gets his jollys off of others' wild speculations

Not a chain (that includes LaRossa's).  That's all I know though.  I'll be digging in to this story some more and will most definitely be relaying the information when it's available.

Maybe adriaticos will open a new pizza shop there?

I saw what looked like a bunch of trainees in Chipotle yesterday afternoon.

  It will be nice to not have to drive up to the location on W Clifton and deal with that crazy parking lot.

Chipotle schedules downtown opening

The store will be next to Rock Bottom Brewery. It will employ 20 to 24 people and operate daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Chipotle will host a fundraiser to benefit the Freestore Foodbank on Thursday, Dec. 4, where visitors can buy a burrito and drink for $5.

A streetcar would be a pretty good transit option to get up to that area's great food offerings.

^

Isn't that thomasbw's line?

Just went to Seny tonight.  Very, very tasty stuff...make sure you go when you're in the mood to be a foodie - it's exquisite tastes blended together seamlessly - but it's also frou-frou at expensive prices.  If you're in a "Burger Madness" kind of mood, it ain't a substitute for Arthur's!  I was definitely in the right mood, though, and it was fantastic!  Flavor and texture and presentation - it's really pretty amazing.  Will definitely be back!

I agree 100%.

Now, why are different sources posting different hours for the new Chipotle?  It's confusing.  Now I'm not sure if I should arrive there at 7:30 PM or 9:30 PM.  ;)

I've heard the food is really creative and presented in really outlandish and cool ways using that molecular gastronomy style of cooking...is this true? Also, I heard the service was a little lacking there usually...thoughts?

The Chipotle site says the Fountain Square location's hours are 11AM to 8PM daily.

Don't know much about molecular gastronomy style of cooking but we went with group of four and found everything to be great - both food and service.  We were seated close to the entertainment for the evening - flamenco guitarist - we enjoyed it.
