Also good to note, the bar has some of the most attractive female bartenders in the city.

I also noticed that

Anybody got pics of the inside of this place?  Also, is it a restaurant or a club?  I'd like to check it out, but if it's a club atomosphere, I'm going to have to mentally prepare myself beforehand.

Loosen up, Jimmy! Clubs won't bite. ;)

LOL!  Alright, alright.

If you want to see a place that dies after business hours go check out Reed Hartman Highway around 7pm.  Most of the food places along that road could probably shut down at 3pm everyday and be just fine.

...used to be some wouldn't even open on Sundays...it sucked when I used to go into the office in Blue Ash on a Sunday and was looking for a bite to eat...

Lucy Blue Pizza is moving in/taking over Gondola's space on 7th.  Saw the sign this morning.

^That's wonderful!  Where's this Gondola's space?

I'm sure that this move will help Lucy Blue's immensely and allow them to keep regular hours.

^ It's two doors down from Lodge Bar, closer to Walnut.  I didn't look to see if Lucy is staying up at 12th & Walnut or not.

I also noticed a bagel sandwich place between Gondola's and lodge!  Has anyone been by there to see when it is opening?

As a Miami Alum and a downtown resident, I hope this is true!!!

Off topic...

Does anyone know the difference between Tuckers on Vine and the one on 13th?  Either of them any good?

^I've never been to the one on 13th, but my friend used to live right by it.  There should be no difference from the one on Vine, where I've eaten and enjoyed many meals.

I'm not sure that the Tucker's on 13th is operational.  It looks like it is closed from the outside.

^I mentioned that to my friend too, but he says it's still open.

it's definitely open, I've seen art student recently coming out with take out.  I just wondered if it was the same place as on Vine and if you can actually eat-in.

Maybe it's just a take out version of the other one...but i have no idea.  It just looks super shady from the outside.

Stay away from 13th and stick with the Vine Street operation.  There is some family relation, but they are completely separate operations with completely different atmosphere and food.

^But *why* should we stay away from the 13th Street location?  What's wrong with the operations, the atmosphere, or the food over there?

Try it and see.

Just don't try it. Ever.

c'mon....i need info here.

I think that if this other Tucker's location is so bad (food, atmosphere, structural problems), it would have closed by now.  I don't think it's right to say "don't go there" if you can't tell us why we shouldn't support a local business.

Do we need to give a lengthy personal essay on why a certain location may be bad? Here is mine:

The food quality was subpar to my tastes. The flavoring was inconsistent. The service was fair, but not great.

Do I need to elaborate on that further? If people don't like it, they don't like it.

But, you see, *that* was helpful.  Before, no one was citing a single reason not to go.  I do appreciate you finally pooping some rainbows.

*shrugs* To each his own, I suppose. I can't stand reading reviews of dining establishments, personally. Far too fluffy and those guys can rarely write with any precision or grace.

Chi-town pizza set for Madeira

Former Chicagoan opening Chi-nnati’s at site of closed Jalapeño’s restaurant

A Chicago-style pizza restaurant is tucking into Madeira, with promises of delivering the most authentic deep-dish pies a Windy City native can offer.

See link for article.

Sad to see Jalapeño’s close, we ate their frequently.  Does anyone have any idea what will be built next to this place where the former Longhorn/Lone Star used to be?

Wow, that pizza place sounds great.  I love our local chains (LaRosa's and especially Dewey's) but there are times when I would do just about anything for a real chicago style pizza!

I can't recall the name, but a new restaurant opened along Walnut in DT that features gumbo. I think it closes around 4 PM, but I would LOVE to see this open later.

Isn't UNO's authentic?  It should be, since it was based out of Chicago.

^Yeah, but I'd have to drive all the way to West Chester to get it (I've heard there's one in Beechmont now, but it's still further than I'd like).  Also, Uno's is deep dish, but isn't like most other Chicago style pizzas, where the cheese sits under the sauce.  One other minor quibble is that they're becoming more and more like a Friday's and less like a pizzeria.  All of the new locations are built identically and the menu focuses more on burgers, steak, shrimp, etc than on pizza now.  The direction they've chosen is really sad.

^I agree with you there.  I miss the days of Pizzeria UNO.

The Uno's in Beechmont is not the same place that you guys are talking about.  It is a place that simply decided to play off of name recognition after Uno went away, became Za, and eventually shuttered most of their locations.

Well Pizzeria Uno isn't even that good.  I have been to the original in Chicago.  Lou Malnati's and Giodanos are the two most renown Chicago style pizza joints and both have their own followings.  It will be interesting to see how close Chi-natti's can come to making a Chicago style pizza similar to these legends.

I don't even know what you're talking about.  The Uno's in Beechmont is owned by those who own the West Chester location and many Taco Bell locations in the region.  The old Pizzeria Uno location in Beechmont was shuttered due to high rents in the new Anderson Towne Center and construction having affected overall business.  The new location isn't owned by those who used own the two former Cincinnati locations.

And you're thinking of Giordano's Pizzeria.

God D#mn you recession!!! D#mn you to hell!!!!

Wow, $5.95 entrees. I've actually never been to the Golden Lamb but I hear that place is legendary.

I looked up that location. It must be the old Encore location at McCabe Crossing? Or in the same shopping center.

Sad news about Kona...it was a good place.

Kona was so perfect for Oakley! The menu's eclectic nature reflected the neighborhood!  At least they still have my favorite laundromat.

This Kona Bistro closing has gotten an enormous amount of local media coverage.  Both the Enquirer and Business Courier has covered it as has some of the local TV stations.

I used to live basically next door to it and always thought the food was subpar.  Wanted to like it, if for no other reason than the convenience factor, but didn't.

Hopefully someone else gives the space a shot and it doesn't sit vacant for a long time.

Oakley could have one of the best NBD's in the city if they would get rid of those fast food places next to Kona, and kick out those car dealerships that seperate the part of the business district where Boca is from the part where King Arthurs Court toys is.  That would make it a long, cohesive business district.

Good news for fans of Oakley...

Pretty dissappointed w/ how long that place has taken.  Other restaurants have been announced and opened in half the time.  Seems that part of twon takes a lot longer for things to open.

Maybe it's going to be out of this world and because of this, it's taking extra time. ;)
