December 12, 200618 yr If you want cheap fast Vietnamese there is always Cilantro right across from Hughes high school. The Beef Vermicelli noodle bowl is delicious, about the size of two meals and six dollars.
December 13, 200618 yr Since we now know that they will be opening up a Oceanaire Seafood Room in the 580 Building, I'd assume most people want to see what this place looks like (like me). Here you go ... I like their style!
December 13, 200618 yr This move is understandable...doesn't Jean Robert live in Covington?? Yes I think I read somewhere that he lives in nky. I ate at PhoParis right after it opened - it was pretty good - but the location back off the street behind a parking lot made it feel very (sub)urban - unlike JeanRo and Pigalls dt. Sounds like the new location will be better.
December 13, 200618 yr 580 Building? I need more info. From the Enquirer: "By late 2007 or early 2008, an Oceanaire Seafood Room is expected to open at Sixth and Walnut streets in the revamped 580 Building."
December 14, 200618 yr Yes but what is the 580 Building? I am good but I don't know every building name in the city.

December 14, 200618 yr ^The building Graet American Insurance is in. The 6th and Walnut location. They also have offices in Dixie Terminal.
December 14, 200618 yr ^yeah that was a bad clarification....Great American is in about 3 or 4 locations downtown. Here is an aerial of the site (just south of Aronoff, cady corner from CAC)...the building's lobby/entrance is currently being renovated:
December 14, 200618 yr ^yeah that was a bad clarification....Great American is in about 3 or 4 locations downtown. Fine. The one with the actual "Great American Insurance" sign on it. December 14, 200618 yr ^ Not to be confused with Great American Financial Resources (GAFRI), which has a sign inside the 525 Vine building :)

December 15, 200618 yr On my way downtown this morning I noticed the old Buskin Bakery on 8th St. had a new sign outside indicating that it was going to be a Mexican restaurant. Anybody know anything about this??
December 15, 200618 yr I believe Jalapenos was opening a downtown location but I don't remember where. It is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the region so I am happy. We go to the one in Madeira often.
December 15, 200618 yr The one at 8th and Walnut is Javier's, which is moving from a much smaller location on Court St. It has been a popular lunch spot for years. I have heard really good things about the food at Potluck in Northside. Now that they have seating, I may just go check it out! Edit: Jalapeno's is going in at 7th and Elm, where Aioli used to be. It should be opening soon.

I'm sure someone in my nutjob family will wanna talk me into it lol.
December 15, 200618 yr Bah... West Chester has Columbus based "City Barbeque", some of the best pulled pork I have ever had. Dickey can go back to Texas. Here are the two Cincinnati locations: City Barbeque West Chester 7706 Voice of America Centre West Chester, OH 513-755-0518 City Barbeque Hyde Park 3804 Paxton Ave Cincinnati, OH 513-871-8890
January 5, 200718 yr BAH I just went to Paula's in Findlay Market & it was closed. I heard they were going to open a place downtown but I just figured there would be 2 of 'em. I guess they just moved ?
January 5, 200718 yr BAH I just went to Paula's in Findlay Market & it was closed. I heard they were going to open a place downtown but I just figured there would be 2 of 'em. I guess they just moved ? They were closed? That's a surprise. I was just at the Findlay Market location on Saturday. The one on 4th St. is now open. It's between Walnut and Vine.
January 6, 200718 yr Deli & soup & sandwich shop They have some unique stuff. I got a tub of homemade Guinness mustard there. I only got it because I saw them making it there (and I like Guinness). It was ok.
January 6, 200718 yr I really enjoy the Reuben at Paula's. AGH ! That's what I wanted the other day !
January 6, 200718 yr Tell me more about Paula's Cafe, I have never eaten there. The turkey chili is very good. I also tried the turkey sandwich, and it has real slices of turkey on it. :) None of that fake processed stuff.
January 6, 200718 yr They also have a good "Cuban" sandwich which I had never heard of but, I guess, is well known to Floridians.
January 8, 200718 yr Author Restaurant idea catches tailwind of S.C. hurricane Hugo to serve 'Southern sophisticated' fare in Oakley Cincinnati Business Courier - January 5, 2007by Lisa Biank FasigStaff Reporter The former chef at Tink's Café and his CEO father are teaming up to launch a restaurant in Oakley, in the space recently vacated by Pho Paris. January 8, 200718 yr ^^Sounds interesting. Best of luck to them in that space! It's now on its third restaurant since Andiamo opend there about 4 or 5 years ago. It is like the Oakley equivalent of the spot in Hyde Park square where Red is now. There have been 5 different restaurants there since I move to Cincinnati in 99. As for Paula's I can vouch for the turkey chili and the cuban :-D
January 11, 200718 yr Javiers, a mexican place at 8th and Walnut looks like it just opened up. (previously the location was a busken) Both Paula's are open, but the one at Findlay is closed for repairs this week. Cafe de Paris expanded their menu at Garfield Place. They also opened a second location with more dinner options in Hyde Park. Kaldi's now has panini sandwiches and $1.50 pints Christian Morlien Hefewiezen all the time. The Gyspy hut in Northside is open on Blue Rock Road. It is a great dive bar with $2 pints of Olde Stlye.
January 12, 200718 yr ^ Very nice to read, the Enquirer only covers closed down restaurants. I learned a new word her in Germany, I will use it in a sentence: "The Enquirer is sheizer."
January 12, 200718 yr ^^I believe that the Javier's is simply relocating from their Court St. location. But the other stuff sounds good!
January 12, 200718 yr Burgers and crab cakes coming to former Redfish Cincinnati Business Courier - 4:57 PM EST Friday by Lisa Biank Fasig Courier Staff Reporter Sully's, an Irish pub-style eatery, is planning to open at the former Redfish location on Seventh Street this spring, adding another casual restaurant to the Seventh Street corridor. January 12, 200718 yr Here is more on Sully's: http://www.sullyssaloon.com I noticed the dirt bag Enquirer was too busy covering another store closing in Tower Place.
January 12, 200718 yr I think Sully's was one of the restaurants discussed as having interest in Fountain Square. I'm glad to here they chose this place because the Square certainly will be fine whether Sully's is there or not.
