Of these restaurants:

My Favorite:

  - Nicola's

Best Meal Ever:

  - Daveed's (the lamb chops)

Ritziest (where I'd take a business client I was really really trying to impress):

  - Boca

21. Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse (19) - Not at this location but all the others.

LOL - hey you can't do that.  That would be like me going to the Precinct and claiming it.  j/k

Speaking of the Precinct, I can't believe it isn't on the list.  It was one of the best steak houses I have ever eaten at and I find it hard to believe that Jeff Ruby Steakhouse is better.

I think steak at the Precinct is better than it is at Jeff Ruby's, actually...I imagine that it's the ovens at the Precinct, but I couldn't say that for sure.

The difference is that Jeff Ruby's is a little classier, and a little roomier.  They pack you right the hell in at the Precinct, I guess it's kind of a New York feel, and I hate that - but the steak is worth it.  But Jeff Ruby's is all high class - a cigar case, a live piano player, classy decor, and really top notch service.  They have restroom attendants at Jeff Ruby's, and I seem to remember someone walking my mom to the restroom whenever she went...it's the flagship, and gets the glory, even if the steaks are a little better at the Precinct...

^ Restroom attendees mean I have to pay someone to take a piss.  Bah...  If I want that I will go to strip clubs ;)

If you are going to pay big bucks to have somebody cook a daggone steak, you might as well pay to piss.

^ You guys are funny!

If you are going to pay big bucks to have somebody cook a daggone steak, you might as well pay to piss.

Bah...  I have no problem dropping $35 on a great steak but I don't need to pay someone to hand me a towel.

Bathroom attendants scare me. They're always staring at you in there.

When I ate at Jeff Ruby's there wasn't a bathroom attendent.  However, women are escorted to the bathroom.

For service, the Celestial was the best service I had ever experienced in a restaurant.  I ate there when it was a French restaurant and while the food was good, it wasn't worth the price.  I hear the food has improved greatly since hiring a new chef and becoming a steak restaurant but then I see they dropped off the list.

go to slims on sunday.  BYOB = cheap meal + good wine.

The old Celestial was horrifically expensive, for food that was good, but not great.  And it was truly geriatric...nothing wrong with that, but man, the average age had to be Golden Buckeye territory.  But the new place has Kobe beef, brilliant meals, just fantastic.  Our server was so-so, but the food was astonishing...

But man, that view is tough to beat.  One good way to enjoy the place is just to go to the bar - get a seat near a window, have some drinks and appetizers or dessert, and have your meal somewhere less pricey...

Coffee shop's move to the city a welcome jolt

By Joe Wessels

It's not often that a business leaves Northern Kentucky and finds greener pastures in Over-the-Rhine.

But that's exactly what Enzo's Over-the-Rhine, a new coffeehouse on Race Street set to open around March 1, did - thanks, in part, to a new program offered by that neighborhood's chamber of commerce.

No link available for rest of article.

Churches, convenience stores, check cashing services, temporary labor services and social services are not eligible.

Gee, I can't imagine why not...

That program sounds great...things are really starting to pick up steam in OTR.  I can only imagine the kind of investment that will occur when you factor in a furture streetcar line...the future looks VERY bright for the area!!!

^ Hmmm sounds like a good oportunity to open, "Urban Ohio - The Store".

or an Urban Ohio section at the Ohio bookstore.

^ Hmmm sounds like a good oportunity to open, "Urban Ohio - The Store".

-Sell UO merchandise

-give guided tours of the city

-Sell Cincinnati and other Ohio stuff (books, posters, photography)

-offer informational materials on Cincinnati and other Ohio attractions (possibly cut a deal with the regional tourism bureau).

Seriously...I think we could muster enough stuff together to make it a viable business!  What do the other Cincy forumers think??

^ What is this "we" stuff? ;)

not alone.

1. there isn't much UO merch

2.Architreks does that

3. the ohio bookstore among countless others does that.

4. The CVB does that.

5. Who is going to staff the office?

6. how much will they be paid?

the best route would be to consign with an established buisness.  Ohio bookstore, Kaldis, city cellars, whoever.  work from there

1.  More UO merch could be created relatively easily...especially with the design minded people on here

2.  There is more than 1 type of tour that could be given...it would have to be a special UO kind of tour

3.  I don't know

4.  Right...I'm suggesting we could assist in that process with the CVB

5.  Hell, idk maybe people on here...volunteers interested in the venture (UC Architect, Planning, or whatever students)

6.  Minimum Wage!!!

more power to you if you can get it off the ground.

ehhh...I don't have any time for this kind of venture.  I was just thinking out loud again

COVINGTON -

The partners behind Jean-Robert at Pigall's and JeanRo Bistro have for months been interested in acquiring the former Donna's Diner site, which sits across the street from Greenup Café and the newly relocated Pho Paris, their two other restaurants.

YAY!!!!! YAY!!!!!! YAY!!!!!

Couldn't be more perfect!  I understand they're storing stuff in the Donna's Diner space right now, so the relationship is there...and that's such a great space - that cool alleyway patio...

Absolutely fantastic...Issue430 is going to be beside himself with glee, being a Greenup-ian!

I already peed my pants over this news!

Old buildings to house new restaurants

BY SCOTT WARTMAN | [email protected]

PHOTO: Arthur Leech plans to open a bagel shop in the "Captain's House" at 336 Monmouth St. in Newport, a home built around 1833 by steamboat captain James Curtis Reed.

THE ENQUIRER/PATRICK REDDY

NEWPORT - Arthur Leech saw charm in the old buildings of Newport when he moved here from Jackson Hole, Wyo., two years ago.

That charm has led him to put two restaurants in some of the oldest buildings in Newport.

Asian restaurant to open at bustling suburban site

Chanaka Delanerolle, the owner of Teak, the Celestial and Mount Adams Fish House, is opening his fourth restaurant about 15 miles up the road from his business base, in the former Watson Bros. Brewhouse in Blue Ash. The eatery, which is expected to take an investment of more than $4 million, will specialize in sushi and Thai, but also offer dishes from Malaysia, Cambodia and other Asian nations.

Finally, something in the Watson's space...convenient location, loads of parking, large building, with 27K white collar workers surrounding it in every direction...it'll be nice having another lunch option up this way...

Breakfast eatery to open Anderson location

First Watch, a breakfast-and-lunch eatery that garnishes almost all of its dishes with fried potatoes and fruit salads, plans to open its ninth area location this summer, in Anderson Township.

The new restaurants have not to this point attracted more shopping or entertainment destinations to the area.

This is an interesting topic...I believe that once these restaurants open for business and proove vitality, then the other retailers will be more willing to open up downtown.  It will take some of the risk factor out of it for them, and allow them to feel comfortable with their decisions.  I think that downtown is definitely heading in the right direction!

As for this particular restaurant...I remember hearing rumblings about a Bootsy themed place at the Banks.  That would constitute as a major entertainment destination, but if they want their product to come online a little quicker...then W. 4th, W. 7th (near Sulley's, McFadden's) or E. 8th (near Blue Wisp, Arnold's) may all be potential locations.

^ Just a rumor, but think "12th & Vine."  But you didn't hear it from me and I am not even sure if it's true. AND I am not sure that's a good spot for it.

^Hear what??

12th & Vine?  Damn I was hoping for something along either 4th or 7th street with the new influx of restaurant/bars popping up on those streets.

I am putting a few rumors together . . . I may be full of s*&t.

I don't know if this is the right place for this . . Move if you want.

The Taste of Cincinnati food festival will be leaving its 19-year home on Central Parkway and moving to a new one along Fifth Street this year.

I think it's a great decision to move to 5th street. Now if we can only get better restuarant participation.

I too like the move to 5th street...much better atmosphere!
