February 7, 20187 yr Furthermore, Lachey's noted they weren't getting enough of a lunch crowd. I had no idea they had lunch *shrug*. "Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago." - Warren Buffett
February 7, 20187 yr They should never have been open for lunch on weekdays. Just not enough businesses are up there to support that.
February 7, 20187 yr I work on Central Parkway and there are just so many better options than Lachey's for lunch within walking distance. The Nation, for one, is almost always packed for lunch.
February 7, 20187 yr I live and work nearby, and frankly never new Lachey's even served food. I thought it was just a bar, and it always seems busy on nights and weekends. I never went, because it is just not my kind of crowd.
February 7, 20187 yr Oh well, it seems a lot of businesses come and go and nothing is immune to a business model that isn't ideal. It seems especially with really large spaces that they run into trouble. I think for OTR they need to concentrate on adding more offices which it seems they are doing to up the daytime crowd. I know they just opened that large marketing office but they need to add much more because the daytime crowd in OTR is pretty dead while the opposite in downtown, then it flips around the other way during the evening.

Agreed. I am hoping that the 15/Vine and Streitman Building (12/Central) get filled quickly...and not from poaching office users downtown but adding from outside the core/region.

March 2, 20187 yr I really like Joella's food so this should be a great lunch spot assuming they can get people turned around quickly (the one in NKY is a bit slow). Wasn't there a hot chicken place proposed for the Freedom Center a while back? I guess that isn't happening anymore.
March 2, 20187 yr The last rumor I heard is that the Freedom Center expansion isn't happening anymore.

March 16, 20187 yr Lucius Q, Pendleton's new BBQ restaurant, is now open; take a look inside A barbecue restaurant with a focus on live music opens today in the emerging restaurant corner of downtown's Pendleton neighborhood. Lucius Q at 1131 Broadway St. opened to the public on March 16. Click through the photos above for a look inside. The idea for Lucius Q originated with Jeff Keate. He owns a Mio's restaurant in Mount Washington and was looking for another project. He roped in former WNKU-FM personality Aaron Sharpe, but they weren't certain what it was going to be until hanging out with a childhood friend of Keate's, Tommy Martin, the chef at Smoq in Fairfield. The idea grew from there, and they brought on Shane Spears, a Texas native, as another partner. March 16, 20187 yr ^And amid all of this development Arnold S. Levine refuses to sell those parking lots!
March 16, 20187 yr Actually, many of those lots on the Pendleton-OTR border which previously advertised only monthly parking have recently installed ticket kiosks and are now renting out their spaces during night and weekend hours. The Peaslee Neighborhood Center on 14th Street did the same. So unfortunately, all of those lots appear to be here to stay for the foreseeable future.
March 16, 20187 yr I suspect that Arnold S. Levine is going to wait until there is no more developable land in the neighborhood before he tests the market.
March 20, 20187 yr OTR pop-up to feature new restaurants One of Over-the-Rhine’s popular establishments is opening its doors to bring in even more new flavor. March 26, 20187 yr Wow. It sounds like the owner, frankly, did not know much about how to run a business.
March 26, 20187 yr Isn't the first rule of opening a business (especially a restaurant) to have enough cash on hand to survive for at least six months with no income? I feel bad for the guy. Seems like he got in over his head and didn't have the people around him to let him know it.
March 26, 20187 yr Isn't the first rule of opening a business (especially a restaurant) to have enough cash on hand to survive for at least six months with no income? I feel bad for the guy. Seems like he got in over his head and didn't have the people around him to let him know it. Yeah but that probably wouldn't be so important if he had just kept Cilantro going. I didn't notice any change to the business since he took it over in the spring so at least from the outside it didn't look to me like there was a problem. But there certainly wasn't a marketing push or anything else, either. The Ninja Grill is inexplicably very popular, at least by appearances. It's not very good food. I gave it three tries and it was never good. But the people keep coming. I don't know if they took away business from Cilantro or not.
March 27, 20187 yr Can anyone tell me what happened to Cuban Pete's on court street. We use to frequent there a lot and one day they were closed and going to re open and now nothing. Did the business bite the dust completely? I sure hope not, they are the only place with a good cuban and fried sweet plantains

Injoy will open in the former Picnic and Pantry space at 1400 Republic St. in Over-the-Rhine on April 14, the restaurant announced on its Facebook page. Injoy started as a vendor at Findlay Market serving burritos and bowls inspired by traditional Indian cuisine. It serves a new take on classic tikka masala with a selection of basmati rice, tikkasala sauce, sauteed onions and peppers, chicken or aloo gobi, curry peanuts, garlic mint yogurt, sweet chili sauce, pickled onions, cilantro and naan. March 29, 20187 yr Bagel shop opening in Over-the-Rhine A bagel shop born in Findlay Market's kitchen accelerator is opening a brick-and-mortar location in Over-the-Rhine to serve the breakfast and lunch needs of urban residents and businesses. The Bagelry plans to open at 1401 Walnut St. by September. Founder Richard Huff told me the idea was born when he and his wife moved to Over-the-Rhine from Louisville, where they had both attended college and graduate school. "When we were in Louisville, we were both starting our careers and lots of time it was hard to find time for each other, so we'd spend time at a bagel shop there called Nancy's," Huff said. "I grew a strong affection for bagel around that. Then, we moved back to Over-the-Rhine and we didn't have that option." April 5, 20187 yr Collective Espresso owner opens deli/grocery in Over-the-Rhine The owner of Collective Espresso has opened an urban corner deli and grocery store across the street from his Over-the-Rhine coffee shop. Dustin Miller opened the Takeaway at 1324 Main St. on March 17. It grew out of Miller's looking across the street at that vacant building from Collective Espresso, which he opened in 2012, for six years. "There's a real need on Main Street for a corner deli and grocery, which I learned after being across the street just listening to what people's desires were for Main," Miller told me. "There's nowhere to get fresh food and nowhere to get the basic sandwich, so we're trying to hit that need."
