Posted July 28, 200618 yr Recently I visited nearby Farmington for the first time. It was the nearest downtown to me that I have never seen. I arranged my visit so that I would be able to drop by the governor Warner mansion museum. If you are ever visiting Detroit or southeast Michigan then I suggest getting on Grand River and taking it west from Detroit. You will grow through many nice little towns including Farmington, Brighton and Howell (my favorite). There are also many others which I haven't been to yet. Part 1- downtown Part 2- Nice homes or places of historical importance Part 3- Gov. Warner Mansion Fred Warner was the first Michigan governor to serve 3 consecutive terms (1905-1911)
July 28, 200618 yr Very nice! Pleasant-looking, quaint town with a strong appreciation for its history.

August 10, 200618 yr I was a SE Michigander for 36 years and never once set foot in Downtown Farmington. Okay, once maybe. Not too shabby. Typical Michigan levels of pedestrian activity, though. God we're a lazy lot.
