I resist Wikimapia!

Futile as that may be...

Okay...I added Mt. Airy Forest and Clovernook Country Club.  I will do no more, because I would label stuff for two straight weeks and die from malnutrition.

^A-frickin'-men...of course, I have far farther to go to die from malnutrition than you!  I added Nicola's, then realized the same thing as you...

Pardon me if I'm missing something, but is this just an aerial photo with labels? I was hoping for street-level photos.

^ It would be interesting if people could attach photos to descriptions, although things would probably get a lot more complicated for those maintaining this thing.

But I wouldn't say it's "just" and aerial photo with labels.  It's a (potentially) huge democratic collection of spatial information.  More interesting in its concept than in its presentation, I suppose.

I should probably e-mail the link to my carto-colleagues in case they haven't seen it...

So it's like a flat version of google earth?

I added Spring Grove, Wesleyan & Ferncliff cemeteries & Wittenberg University.

Springfield doesn't go very high res.

Not really.  Anyone can identify a certain landmark and put comments in about it.  It's like a global guidebook.

I just sent the link over the LSU (Geography Dept) grad list-serve as well.

But here's a thought about this project.  Cultural Cartography?

We (the users) are going about and identifying various locations for others to see.  The cultural aspect is how we describe the location (or which locations we choose to describe).  Do we id every building?  Do we pick and choose? And how do we describe them (colorful, specific, values)
