March 31, 20232 yr I found this old map from 2019 and I am/was curious about the progress. Below is my write up on the progress on all 16 of these routes in the past 3-4 years. There's gaps in my knowledge, and in some areas I might be wrong, so hopefully those better informed than me can correct and/or better inform me. 1) Towpath, complete 🥳 2) I think the N Marginal section of the lakefront Bikeway has started the design/approval process. I haven't heard anything about the other sections. 3) Superior Midway, moving forward (slowly) 4) already was complete 5) OC section complete, no movement on anything else as far as I'm aware 6) Slavic Village Downtown Connector, still seems like it's going to happen, but it doesn't really seem like we're any closer than in 2019. 7) Morgana Run Trail, I know nothing about this. 8) Garfield Park Connector, I'm pretty sure I saw funding allocated for this in a Metroparks agenda not too long ago (edit: see my Dec 14th post upthread). 9) Sagamore Connector, I have looked for more info on this and found little. I'm hoping someone knows something about this one. 10) West Creek Greenway, I have no knowledge about this. 11) Treadway Creek, I haven't seen anything about these sections 12) Lower Big Creek Connector, the underway section here is Brighton park and is completed. No progress on the rest. 13) Brookdale to Big Creek, to my knowledge no progress. 14) Red Line Greenway, complete! 🥳 15) Lorain Cycle Track, same as midway, moving forward at a snails pace. 16) Centennial Lake Link Trail, all underway sections are complete, all planned sections now underway. All in all progress is visible, most of the routes listed as underway in 2019 are now complete, and a few planned areas are now underway.

I know work on this one continues. I will try and find out more but I believe the section connecting SVDC and Morgana Run trail is a part of upcoming ODOT & NEORSD projects. My understanding is there is a lot of planning behind the scenes, but the city isn’t helping much because of personnel turnover. Ultimately they need to coordinate all of the agencies building these trails for them but there is no one currently in that role.

April 5, 20232 yr Several announcements from the Slow Roll CLE crew: When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
April 12, 20232 yr This looks fun - next Saturday, April 22, at 1pm This special ride will begin and end at iconic Merwin’s Wharf, with a route highlighting the past, present, and future of Cleveland’s emerging trail network. With so many major new projects on the horizon, this will be a first-of-its-kind opportunity to view the future with the leaders that will usher vision into reality. Riders can expect to use both trails and roads during the 5-7 mile route, but they will be in good hands with assistance from Bike Cleveland and squad support from Slow Roll Cleveland. When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

April 18, 20232 yr Van Aken bikeway meeting this evening. When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
April 19, 20232 yr Drew up a quick bike route that could be part of the next UO meetup - I imagined leaving out of Brick and Barrel, but could also try for Forest City. This would have us going on the future Irishtown Bend Park (folks could walk over from either brewery if they felt inclined), on the bike path around the outskirts of Thunderbird, across the bridge and (kind of hairy, but manageable) up the Front Ave hill into the city, past SHW, City Club, and into Ohio City (via Gateway/L-C Bridge/path) to check out Waterford Bluffs, Duck Island, and scoot over to see Intro, and if we wanted to go up the bike path a little bit to see Treo and then return back. It'd probably come out to be about ten miles and really, the only area that would have traffic is once we pop out into downtown, but the streets I picked are pretty quiet. If anything, this demonstrates just how much is going on in such a small area!

August 14, 20231 yr Been lending a bit of a hand with the Bike Your Neighborhood rides in Buckeye/Mt. Pleasant neck of the woods. August 16, 20231 yr From this month's agenda, the Metroparks is committing up to $5,000,000 for the Lakefront bikeway. This is primarily, if not exclusively, coming from the Mandel gift.
August 16, 20231 yr I'm a little conflicted here. That road is very low traffic, has no four-way intersection, and is a low speed limit, making it very safe to bike on as-is. On the one hand I feel like creating a bikeway in an area that is unbikeable would provide more value. On the other hand, I do understand the appeal of formally connecting the "Lakefront Bikeway." I would love to see some wall or barrier seperating this bikeway and Marginal Rd. from the insane noise and pollution of the Shoreway. Edited August 16, 20231 yr by Balkmusic

I have been riding/running on marginal for years now with 0 issue and my only complaint would be how unpleasant it is right next to the the highway. It's been a while... but I don't think the proposed Lakefront bikeway addressed that.
August 16, 20231 yr FWIW, it's been recently repaved but when it is in bad shape it's in baaad shape. My first bike into Cleveland (when I didn't live here) was on a bike tour and god was that road miserable. Kind of dumb, but also bikes/peds have much less wear on the road so a dedicated bike path might not be a bad thing. Also, if a car flies off the shoreway I don't think that fence is going to do much. Yes dumb, buuuuuuuuuuut if it gets more casual people out there riding I'll bite my tongue.

September 19, 20231 yr Has there ever been any discussion about putting a bike trail in the below area? I realize those are active tracks, it's an industrial zone, and there's a few sections where things get a little tight, but it seems like it would be a great connector trail between the Opportunity Corridor and the Morgana Run/Mill Creek Falls trails. Also, despite the few tight sections I mentioned above, there are also several sections that look to have a lot of room to landscape and basically make this into a vertical park. Adding a bike lane to E93rd would accomplish most of the same goals, but trails are much better than bike lanes. Basically I was just staring at Google Maps too long and this thought occurred to me, and I was wondering about it. Also while I was going down an internet rabbit hole trying to answer my question, I found out there's a meeting tomorrow about several of the East side trail connectors! Hopefully some people from this site are able to attend! https://2023-raise-east-side-trails-smithgroup.hub.arcgis.com/pages/engage

Hopefully some people from this site are able to attend! I was planning on it but totally forgot lol ope. That line you drew is mainline RR, I've ridden it before and although the siding is large enough in most places there's better cheaper alternatives, also safety wise you're kind of out there. There's a lot of non-mainline (but still kind of active) rails that hook into this ML. There's some abandoned rail in the general area though that would make for some neat path, you can ride it but you'll be walking a bunch right now lol. E79 is my go-to when I'm over in that neck of the woods, it's quiet and wide enough in most spots that you aren't going to cause an issue bonus points it goes all the way from the lake to Slavic Village/Morgana Run Trail. 93rd is a speedway and I don't think there's much saving that road even with bike lanes- If I have to I'll take it heading north because it's downhill, but if I'm headed south, I'll hop off around Harris/Bessemer/that area and figure it out from there. 116th also has bike lanes and 131 isn't too bad either. There are actually quite a few bike lanes in SV and the surrounding area - Harvard serves as a really nice E-W route, same goes for Miles.
September 22, 20231 yr Did not know this interactive map existed, very nice. I know the vertical dotted line here will be completed as a part of an upcoming ODOT project. It will end up connecting Broadway with Washington Park as well as making the connection under I-77 to the Morgana Run trail. The map needs a little updating though, this portion of trail between Broadway and Pershing (which I’m not sure is ever used lol) is complete as you can see on the aerial 🤓

That's built already. I assume you mean the Eastern half of the redline? Is there any actual plans for that? Also, the opportunity corridor trail has almost the same route as the redline, so I don't think the return would be nearly as large on the east side as it was on the west side. 43 minutes ago, GISguy said: Bike Cleveland is working to establish some greenway routes for the terminus of the Midway. That said, @noname has a point - that area of 55/Superior is a pretty crappy end. There's really no immediate saving of that section of Superior (where the road narrows and turns into a speedway), and 55 has a ton of Bike/Ped-Car incidents compared to other streets. Bike Cleveland also proposed some infrastructure on that road but not sure the city took it. I think there's a better chance of the greenway (to continue the West-East route towards UC) getting traction over protected bike lanes on Superior or 55th. It seems like a Eastside redline Green way wouldn't be that useful, particularly after the Slavic village connector goes in. The opportunity corridor will already make this connection along almost the same route. Am I missing something?

It's not a multiuse trail or anything. You'll see some of this signage around town if you're looking close enough- I want to say there's some around Axis on Ansel, they're working on these safer routes/alternatives throughout the city.
