I guess it would be better for them to absorb some of the empty office space downtown. Our office vacancy rate is high. this could lead to a possible new tower either way, if they absorb some space the office vacancy rate will drop some.

It would be great if Sherwin Williams would move more into the center of the city, because I think their land is valuable and could be used for a great development.

I misesed this earlier, but SW is downtown in the Landmark Office Towers or are you speaking of their annex center behind Towercity's parking garage?

I love philip Johnsons work, but this tower just would have been out of place on this site.

I've seen that design before, I personally don't like it.  The thing I love about Key is that it really stands out as the tallest scraper; the alternate design just doesn't have that same *pop*.

I couldnt agree more.

Key Tower is just about the most muscular looking building when it is viewed from the north (from I-77 just north of Fleet Avenue) and the south (from the Shoreway or from a boat on the Lake).  Just rises in one thin, dynamic gesture up to it's spire.

Key's height is 888 feet to the top of the pyramid, and 948 feet to the top of the spire.

Could possibly be getting access to the scaffolding currently surrounding the upper reaches of the Terminal Tower.  Damn I hope it isn't windy that particular day.

What really sucks is that I WAS on the scaffolding of the TT, in fact, I was on the highest spot above the scaffolding that anyone can walk on the TT.  I had my picture taken right next to the red warning light at the top and I took a bunch of other pretty cool pictures while I was up there for the fire departent inspection we did a few months ago...the unfortunate part is, before I could download the pics to my computer, I friggin dropped and broke my camera phone and the pictures couldn't be transfered!!!  THAT sucked.  I hope we can get back up there so I can retake the pics!   The view was awesome!

While at work downtown I looked up and saw people cleaning the windows on Key Tower and that made me wonder how often do they clean Key's windows? Is it a constant thing or do they do every other week and so on?

Did anyone read the article out of Chicago about the engineering company that has plans for an 1100ft + tower planned for Cleveland's "city center square"?

What Chicago publication did you read that in JDD?  You've got me salivating with excitement!!!.... it'd be nice to see a project that big actually come to light.

That sound REALLY interesting, give us more details.

Okay...to start..I will take the blame for this..but "I" didn't read NOR write this blog....my friend did this while I was not paying attention as a joke on me.  She thinks I am a big goof for being a skyscraper freak and figured she would start this rumor on MY behalf.  As much as I wish this were true, it isn't.  Lesson learned:  don't leave myself signed in when in the shower!  Sorry all.....

Damn, that's a cruel joke on you and everyone on this board that dreams of a new scraper on Public Square.  Oh well...  :-(

What sickens me, is out of the top 20 tallest in the world, we have only 6 of them. And our tallest is third down the list...and we all know that Sears is really taller than Petronas...damn spire rules.

1. Taipei 101, Taipei, Taiwan 2004 101 509 1,670

2. Petronas Tower 1, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 1998 88 452 1,483

3. Petronas Tower 2, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 1998 88 452 1,483

4. Sears Tower, Chicago 1974 110 442 1,450

5. Jin Mao Building, Shanghai  1999 88 421 1,381

6. Two International Finance Centre, Hong Kong 2003 88 415 1,362

7. CITIC Plaza, Guangzhou, China 1996 80 391 1,283

8. Shun Hing Square, Shenzhen, China 1996 69 384 1,260

9. Empire State Building, New York 1931 102 381 1,250

19. Chrysler Building, New York 1930 77 319 1,046

20. Bank of America Plaza, Atlanta 1993 55 312 1,023

I'm not sure if the Burj in Dubai is done but that'll be the new tallest. It's a great looking building and I think it's surrouned by lake.

Weird that the empire state building was built right after the economy collapsed...I wonder if that effected the fiancing of construction.

Cincinnati should have the tallest building in Ohio  :whip: I love carew tower but the upper half looks goofy and too thin from the Kentucky side. We need a few taller ones that are modern.
