August 20, 200618 yr Ella, you are correct! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 21, 200618 yr ella, the first is the terra-cotta trim on the Grand Arcade building in the Warehouse District. The second is the former Orthodox church on Detroit Avenue - I want to say it's at West 58th. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 23, 200618 yr I thought you said we were dorks - which is it? clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 23, 200618 yr Steelyard Commons industrial remnant? clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 24, 200618 yr Round 2 for MayDay's trivia pics! :-) #6 - southern facade of the Standard Building - guessed by StrapHanger #7 - chandelier at Tower City - guessed by the pope #8 - (Hint - You can dine on 9 but it's not a food court!) Constantino's on West 9th, guessed by ella #9 - The Leader Building - guessed by StrapHanger #10 - (Hint - get to the Pointe!) Blue Pointe Grill (at the Hoyt Block in the Warehouse District - guessed by Straphanger #11 - Superior Avenue facade of the Rockefeller Building - where an addition was added in the early 1900s - guessed by wimwar Okay - this is tricky - I want not only the building, but the significance of this section ;-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 24, 200618 yr Mayday, I think #6 is the blank western wall of the Superior Building (but if not it is the blank southern wall of the Standard Building overlooking the Old Stone Church)...I know naming two is cheating, sorry. Is #7 the chandelier in city hall? #9 the Leader Building?
August 24, 200618 yr StrapHanger, correct on #6 and #9! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 24, 200618 yr Correct, your holiness! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 29, 200618 yr MayDay - I think it's time to start dropping a couple of hints on the remaining trivia photos. That Pizza one is driving me buggy - trying to think of a food court with generic signs like pizza, subs, etc instead of brand names. I've never been to Dine on Nine at BP bldg, but that's the only one I could come up with. Doesn't look like the Halle Bldg (unless it's been renovated to remove the Cabaret theme?).
August 29, 200618 yr Fair enough - I added some hints :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 29, 200618 yr ella, you're absolutely right! 8Shades, no one has guessed either of those (yet). I added a hint for #4 :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 29, 200618 yr OK, #10 must be Blue Pointe in WHD, just to clear that one off the list so we can concentrate on #4 and 11.
August 29, 200618 yr Yes, and yes! Good job, guys! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 29, 200618 yr #4 is tough. I am throw off by the hint. Why is the last HO totally capitalized? Is that a message? The only thing that I associate with Santa Claus is the ol' Higbees. Is it Higbees??
August 29, 200618 yr It is indeed Higbees - the "Ho ho HO" is how the deranged Santa Claus in "A Christmas Story" greeted Ralphie. For those who don't know, that scene and many others were filmed in different Cleveland locales. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 30, 200618 yr I guessed a few already, so I'll let some others have a crack :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 31, 200618 yr Are there 1950's style aluminum awnings inside those arches? - what kind of remuddling is that?
August 31, 200618 yr I'm thinking it's a church steeple on Euclid Ave...the south face has a ladder in one of the upper windows. I'm not sure of the name or the intersection, so I'll have to do a little investigating. then again, I could be waaaay off!
September 1, 200618 yr I'm 98% sure Mister Good Day is right. I think it's at Euclid and 40th and I believe it's called St. Paul Shrine. I only know b/c I had a good amount of time to look at it while trying to bicycle through the ECP pedestrian maze at that intersection.
September 2, 200618 yr Are there 1950's style aluminum awnings inside those arches? - what kind of remuddling is that? Those look like copper, which turns green in the elements. September 7, 200618 yr George Segal sculpture on the Lakeside entrance to the Justice Center :) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
September 7, 200618 yr Actually, that's the one building in downtown Cleveland that I've never set foot in (knock on wood). clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
September 7, 200618 yr I'm a big fan of public art, but those things are creepy. Always weirded me out when I would sit on those benches.
September 7, 200618 yr Ok, here's a new batch! :) Commercial building - Center Street in the Flats - guessed by X. Hart Crane Park in the Flats - guessed by Straphanger Metrohealth Medical Center - guessed by the pope. Entrance to Lake View Cemetery, guessed by CtownD. Detail of bay window of Huron Square Apartments/Huron at East 9th - guessed by Straphanger clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
September 7, 200618 yr Oh man, I love #13: Hart Crane Park in the flats- one of my favorite spots on the river. #16 is the funny bay window thing (one of two?) on the apartment building on the north side of Huron just East of E9th Street. #12 is so familiar but I'm not gonna cheat and make multiple guesses, especially when others on this board will get it right on the first shot.
September 8, 200618 yr Right on all counts! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
September 8, 200618 yr #12 is a small commercial building on Center Street in the Flats. They are advertising artist lofts/offices for lease.
September 11, 200618 yr Correct, X! Incorrect, musky - good guess and I see the resemblance, but that isn't it! :) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
