  • BTW, the reason why I was asking someone this morning about the status of Flats East Bank Phase 3B (the 12-story apartment building) is because Wolstein is getting involved in another big project. Whe

These are REALLY coming along!! I know I’ve said it before, but I just can’t get over how amazing the design, scale/density, boardwalk frontage, windows, multi-level outdoor spaces, etc. all are. Espe

What's the latest status on the Phase II opening?  I thought July was the target date, but from the looks of the most recent photos, they've got significant work to do, and we're at mid-July now.

Edit: But all the renderings for the project seem to indicate one color, so idk.

And that's precisely what generated my question.  I don't mind different colors but not a fan of all the existing company logos/graphics etc.

hmm, typically when i have see them around they are painted and the user adds their own logo and graphics.

From what I hear there are tenants in the apartment building.

I can see half of the apartments from here.  None look lived in or close to ready yet.  Maybe the one's on the West side of the building are closer to complete.  I'd hate to be living with the noise and mess yet, unless the rent was adjusted.

Leasing agent told me two weeks ago that 3rd floor would be ready middle of the month.  Doing a floor every two weeks after that.

If the 3rd floor is the first floor of the apartments, then they are close to ready from what I see on the east side, but still looks empty.

The first residents moved in last week. I will be move in next week. I was told by the leasing office that everything (including the restaurants) will be done by September.

Congrats newyorker!

(but sorry about the whole actual moving part)

Are you moving into the 3rd floor (lowest apartment level)?  What direction does your apt face?  Toby Keith's, Flip-side, and FWD should be open in two months, but the rest of the ground floor apt building shops still isn't enclosed (at least on the east side), so 2.5 months is a stretch.

Dueling pianos bar to open in Cleveland Flats project

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Soon enough, you too can sing us a song. Because, come August, you too can be the piano man – or, ahem, the piano woman.

The Big Bang is coming to Cleveland.

On Aug. 5, the Nashville-based dueling pianos bar will open in the new East Bank Project. The 4,700-square-foot club will feature two grand pianos onstage played by a rotating group of entertainers who mix audience song requests with comedy and audience participation.

"I'm looking forward to bringing our concept to Cleveland," says Big Bang owner Sam Leatherwood. "It's going to be fun coming back."

Leatherwood, you see, used to live in Cleveland – when he worked as the entertainment director of Howl at the Moon, the long-running piano spot in the Powerhouse on the west bank of the Flats.

"I remember people telling me that Howl at the Moon wouldn't last six months," says Leatherwood. "It went for 19 years."

Thanks Punch.

Is that Batman and Catwoman up on the sign?? WTF!

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

^I follow them on Instagram.  They do some serious crazy stuff!  Saw some photo's of them walking out on the boom of the Hilton Tower Crane.  Surprised no one has caught them doing this stuff yet.

^ yeah... Pretty scary, and pretty illegal. I can appreciate their knack for photography, but being a construction person, it's pretty fricken dangerous.

^ Yes they do post crazy, dangerous pictures.  All are awesome but man it seems like any day we will hear in the news of something bad happening.  Her climb up the jackknife bridge next to Shooters was insane.  The roof topping, bridge climbing people are doing these days is very popular.

I am shocked and amazed by both the sign climbers and the fact that I think I see an apartment that appears to be resided in.  There is still so much construction, I wouldn't think people would be moving in for at least another month.  I've been wrong before, so it's not a shock to me.

The photos are great on two counts - visual appeal, and as incriminating evidence.  :|

I was thinking the same thing.  Couldn't this come to bite them in the back?

Maybe her muse is a criminal attorney? This is as dumb as any other person who photographs/videotapes themselves in the process of committing a crime and putting it online.

Yesterday afternoon, the on-site private security guard told me that it should be just about a week before the area opens up to the public. Of course, that is according to her...does not by any means make it official.

Oh Please listen to all of you! Are you all genuflecting as you leave the confessional? Have you ever heard of "To each his own"? This person has balls and good for her/him. How in any sense is this affecting any of you in any way?

We're already back on topic. Thanks.

Anyway, I rode by the site last night and it seems doable that it could be open in about a week, they just have to get a lot done in a week. Things are really starting to take shape though and a lot of the exterior fences have already come down. I saw somewhere that FWD is supposed to open August 1st, so that timeline makes sense.

so happy to see the water taxis back in action, even if only as test runs so far. that will be great.

They have been sorely missed. With the addition of the Merwin's Wharf stop they have a chance to be a catalyst, unlike the previous version that mostly felt like a gimmick.

Originally I wasn't a huge fan of all of the brick, just because I think it's very overused in projects lately, but I'm really liking all of the black on the building. Very sleek and modern looking.

^ same here, but honestly, anything but beige!

Sure would love to see some apartments in the Watermark building, or something. Anything. And I know Samsel's is a going concern, but that would be a great warehouse conversion. Someday.

Agreed. Also I would love to see the city take the initiative and put a streetscape plan together for that portion of Old River. New road, remove utility poles, new lighting , crosswalks. After that I bet those buildings would be snapped up quickly.

Not sure if you are aware but Toby Keith's officially pulled out. I saw the Forward and the concept is well done and it opens this weekend.

Dangit.

^^Not surprised.  They just closed in Cincy a couple of weeks ago and they are apparently in trouble nationally at multiple locations.  Probably a good thing

Well, that's sort of good news. Not good for his business but I'm glad he didn't pull out just because he decided our market wasn't right or something.

Had the signage gone up on the new space?  Doesn't look like from some of the recent photos upthread, but not sure if anything changed.

According to this article, they have recently closed locations in Arizona, California, Minneapolis, and Texas. Add to that the Orlando location and now the Cincinnati location. It's too bad that they were the one tenant whose space was one of the ones furthest along in construction.

Signage is not up. They pulled out because the chain is failing. A little nervousness by some of the new tenets but the seem confident things will work out.

I don't see this as a bad thing.  Although it would pul a new demographic to the city, kind of a cheesy addition to this part of the city

I kind of hate that Toby Keith building anyway - though I'm assuming that they are going to keep it. I wonder what they will seek to replace it.

newyorker]Not sure if you are aware but Toby Keith's officially pulled out.

This is great news!

If this is official, why would anyone be happy about this? It could take another year to get out of this and find a replacement. Meanwhile we have a shuttered building. Not a good look. This will affect all stakeholders. Others were counting on the traffic that TK would bring to FEB. This is a setback for sure.

Dangit.

I believe the more appropriate response would be dag'gummit

Radical idea: transition the boardwalk along the western sidewalk of Old River. You would expand foot traffic by leaps and bounds.
