"Big Strong Men Will Very Rarely Eat Pork Chops."

    What does this riddle mean?

I found this on the internet today and thought it was cool. Hint: it's related to Ohio.

i googled it, you could at least narrow it down to a region.......

I'd never heard that until ColDayMan used it one day...if you know it, don't post it - let folks try to figure it out!

I'm not prejudiced against any part of Ohio.  :-D

Oops...just saw what Riverviewer wrote...guess i'll let others guess

Broadway,

Sycamore,

Main,

Walnut,

Vine,

Race,

Elm,

Plum and

Central

Verticle streets downtown :]

No one is going to get that without prior knowledge or googling, RV, unless they've recently been studying their metric scale or planets, or something of that sort (hint, hint).

edit: Nevermind, David just revealed.

Ach, no big deal - just thought it would be a fun thing to puzzle out one's self, but Ink is right, it probably would have been awfully tough to figure out without some clever clues...I know I wouldn't have thought of it, probably...

All I saw were the first four words of the subject "Big Strong Men Will...". Needless to say, the thread turned out to be quite a letdown ;-)

we're you hoping for vegan bodybuilders?

I know what you mean, MayDay ... this thread held lots of promise for the first few words. Oh well. Back to thinking about urban affairs.

Well, the Cincy folk shouldn't have all the fun (and you know how us Clevelanders have to make it all about us ) ... any suggestions for remembering the east-west roads that intersect with Ontario between 2 & 90 (memorizing our vertical streets seems a little ridiculous, given our numeric grid)?

Lakeside, St. Clair, Rockwell, Superior, Euclid, Prospect, Huron, Eagle/Erie, Carnegie

I wasn't feeling incredibly creative, but it at least seems timely:

^That's a bit too much.  Make it more simple for quick memories and it'll work.

OK.........

Leave some road space, everyone push his egg cartons!

.............uh, there's gotta be something better than that!  That's all I could come up with.......

  • 5 years later...

I just had pork chops tonight!

That was taught to us in grade school.

I remember being taught it as a kid, possibly in school, but to this day I have trouble remembering it. Guess it's not a very good mnemonic device. Not for me, anyway. I just remember it's something about pork chops, haha.

King Henry Died By Drinking Chocolate Milk is what I learned in school and It has nothing to do with streets. Its actually school related. Funny thing is that I remember the phrase but cant remember what it is for. I had to google it to remember.

A sister of mine moved to Cincinnati (North College Hill) about 4 years ago. I told her this but she hates hates hates downtown so she remembers "Big Strong Men Will Very Rarely Eat Pork Chops", but doesn't know the names of the downtown streets at all.

King Philip Came Over For Good Sex

Believe it or not, thanks to TV Funhouse, that is how I remember Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.

A Rat In The House May Eat The Ice Cream is the only one I learned.

What about Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally?

My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine.....what?? Pluto's planet status was revoked! This mnemonic device is busted, and will forever be a cliffhanger.

What about Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally?

is that order of operations in math?
