October 28, 20231 yr I hate to be too skeptical, but what do we think the odds are that when that is built it actually has a clock at the top and not just another gray panel? I think it looks great, I just feel like there's very little chance that makes onto the final building. I'd love to be wrong.

November 3, 20231 yr National Church Residences, Near East Side church partner on affordable housing A Near East Side parking lot is slated to become housing developed by National Church Residences. The nonprofit plans to turn the parking lot at 494 St. Clair Ave. into an 84-unit senior housing development called The Scarborough. National Church Residences expects to break ground on the project in 2025. Trinity Baptist Church owns the lot and will keep an ownership stake in the project, leasing it to the developer. "Ownership is power," said Pastor Victor Davis, who leads Trinity Baptist. "This makes sure that we have a continued footprint in the community." December 1, 20231 yr First Look: Triumph Apartments in Olde Towne East The first residents have moved into the Triumph Apartments at 80 S. 18th St. in Olde Towne East. The 122-unit development, which sparked some neighborhood opposition when it was first proposed in early 2020, eventually won the support of the Near East Area Commission and City Council. Work began on project in 2022 and is still ongoing, at least in a portion of the building. Apartments on the top floor have been completed, and the lobby and first-floor gym are also done and open for residents to use, but workers are continuing to put finishing touches on the second and third floors of the building. This is the style of building clintonville should be allowing down high st. Outside is great other than the windows need a bit more detail. The insides are totally different. It's "inhumane" interior architecture. It's bare necessities without any real life or character to it. It's got about as much personality as a storage unit. And I get that as a developer, you're trying to appease everyone and lease. But this isn't a home, its just a house. We have enough resources to make this stuff possible and just don't.

I can't imagine anyone is moving into a building like this thinking "I've just moved to my forever home".

December 21, 20231 yr Two Columbus Projects Awarded Historic Tax Credits Two local developments were awarded Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits today, although one of them was also awarded the credits last summer. ... The Edna Total Project Cost: $4,700,000 Total Tax Credit: $520,000 Address: 879 Long St. The Edna Building, in Columbus’ East Long Street neighborhood, is significant in the city’s African American story. Built in 1905, the building and its surrounding neighborhood became a key place during the Great Migration in the early 20th century. During these years the building held the offices of an African American insurance company, a newspaper, and a social club. After years of vacancy and neglect, the building will be rehabilitated to serve the neighborhood again with office spaces and will be a key in the revitalization of the area. January 26, 20241 yr Supportive Housing Planned for Former Encampment Site on Mound A new affordable housing development is planned for a one-acre piece of land at 897 E. Mound St. The parcel was home to an encampment of about 20 unhoused individuals for about six months in 2022. Known as Camp Shameless, the encampment was started in March of that year after the closing of two overnight warming centers nearby. Similar to other permanent supportive housing developments built by CHN – like Parsons Place on the South Side and Terrace Place in Weinland Park – the three-story building on Mound will be staffed and offer onsite services such as behavioral health counseling. A rental subsidy provided by Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority will allow all units to be rented to people who earn 30% or less of the area median income. Reitter said that CHN will be applying for federal tax credit funding from the Ohio Housing Finance Agency in February. If the project is awarded credits in May, groundbreaking on the project would take place in the spring of 2025, with a planned opening in the fall of 2026.
