Posted December 14, 200420 yr While I think the mayor is a crooked as a circle, I like the concept. My vote would be to make it a live work space, with a gallery and the performance hall. Since the city has taken it over, it has never been used to its potential. Maybe an artists community there would not only benefit the building, but the city as well. For those of you who know Euclid, you may want to laugh, but with Beachland ballroom, there are signs of life north of I-90 on the east side. School's reuse as condos divides Euclid Tuesday, December 14, 2004 Thomas Ott Plain Dealer Reporter Euclid - Shore Cultural Centre may be a nice place to visit, but fans of the historic building are not sure they want anyone to live there. more at Cleveland.com

February 9, 200520 yr My sister-in-law knows the developers. They are going to try to make it like the tower press building. A live work space that contains an auditorium that they want to model after the Beck center in Lakewood, and gallery space for the residents. Plus a bunch of condo's for people with money who want to be around people in the arts. If it is done right, it could be spectacular. I am hoping!
September 19, 200519 yr I believe this is the same project--please correct me if it's not. From Sun Newspapers, 9/15/05: Charting a slow, steady course Lake seems to be biggest lure of new Harbor Town development By JEFF PIORKOWSKI Staff Writer Sept. 15, 2005 The process is not a quick one but, in the case of lakefront development in Euclid, it is a steady one. The K&D Group continues doing what it must to bring about the Harbor Town development which, someday, will consist of townhouses, condominiums, a boardwalk, restaurant and marina on Lake Erie, off East 242nd Street. Community Development Director Frank Pietravoia said the presence of the lake has proven to be the biggest attraction of the development... http://www.sunnews.com/news/2005/part2/0915/EHARBOR.htm
March 9, 200718 yr From the 1/11/07 Euclid Sun Journal: The Price to develop lakefront K&D Group partner: city needs to market itself better Thursday, January 11, 2007 By Jeff Piorkowski Euclid Sun Journal As the developer of Euclid's lakefront, when Doug Price talks, people listen. Price, in a Jan. 2 conversation with Ward 2 Councilman Daryl Langman said the city needs to better market itself in order for his project to succeed. March 10, 200718 yr We live in Euclid and have for most the last 21 years. i have always liked Euclid and chose to live here when I relocated from Pittsburgh. I just found this article but it seems to confirm what we have been feeling for a while. The posts about the development are nearly 3 years old. I am not seeing the development. I know things take time but many people, ourselves included, want to live in an area that feels like an upcoming urban, mixed use, diverse type area with walkable stores, places to safely ride a bike, and good public amenities and city services. I'm sorry to say but we are kind of tired of waiting for the comeback. Looking at moving to Ohio City or Detroit Shoreway.
July 16, 200717 yr With plans in the works for streetscaping downtown Euclid (E222nd, Babbitt, Lakeshore and Shore Center) Euclid will begin to resemble what you're looking for. Another piece of evidence that the city is heading in the right direciton is the E222nd Industrial Parkway. This project will help market the city to industry and bring in much needed jobs.
July 16, 200717 yr Too late. He already moved to Battery Park in Ohio City. But welcome aboard EuclidRevivification! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 16, 200717 yr I know Cleveland is well know in the higher acting, dance & theatre circles, but it seems like there are various arts districts thoughout the region, is the city that much of an inqubator of talent? It seems like every neighborhood now has an "arts" district.
July 19, 200717 yr Yep, did move. Our issues with the city were only part of it but a significant part. We love our house, have put the proverbial blood, sweat and tears into it, renovated, and I know there will be more tears when I pull out of the driveway on the last day. But, I think we are making a good move. For me, since I work in "Brunstucky" it will be closer for work. We are also looking forward to no yard work and being closer to our friends on the west side. Euclid has been my home for most of the last 22 years so I wish it well and hope that lots of good things happen in the future.
July 19, 200717 yr For me, since I work in "Brunstucky" it will be closer for work. Just hopping over from the West Brunsginia thread made me wonder if you get your hair cut at Great Clips in downtown Brunstucky. :-P
July 19, 200717 yr Actually, get my hair cut in Mentor because I have been living in Euclid. Now I have to find a place on the west side, maybe Ohio City. Any suggestions?
July 19, 200717 yr That's funny, I still drive 30 minutes to get my haircut in Mentor because I like my barber there and I'm always afraid to try a new one (I don't want to end up with a mohawk or something). I've been going there for years, since I was in high school and living in Wickliffe. So no, I don't have a suggestion, other than to stay away from Great Cuts. :) By the way, what place did you go to in Mentor?
July 20, 200717 yr Rocco's. Been going there for 20 years. Started when I lived in Mentor for a brief 3 years. Ditto on the afraid of the mohawk.
