Posted August 13, 200618 yr After getting back from vacation and now having to leave again to Washington DC on business I wanted to take the family downtown to enjoy the beautiful weather. We spent the day at Yeatman's Cove and Newport on the Levee at the Seafood Festival and finished the evening with a Omnimax movie at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Here are some of the photos I took: Our Leader The Best Attraction of Kentucky - The View of Cincinnati's Skyline Last but certainly not least...
August 13, 200618 yr What is wrong with this city?? A great day yesterday and nobody, I mean nobody, is outside?? What is wrong with people!!?? Just look at those pics!!!
August 13, 200618 yr I was outside! Haven't posted my Carew Tower shots yet, but maybe later. Monte, very nice. Gorgeous day, great pictures... Is that water feature the one by Adam's Place?
August 14, 200618 yr I was outside! Haven't posted my Carew Tower shots yet, but maybe later. Monte, very nice. Gorgeous day, great pictures... Is that water feature the one by Adam's Place? It is at Yeatman's Cove right below One Lytle Place. There were people outside throughout the city. Seaford Festival had a good crowd, the Midwest Latino Fest had a decent crowd on the Freedom Center lawn and Scribble Jam was going on at Annie's and it was packed as usual. Unfortunately Yeatman's Cove was quit which is noteworthy and a reminder that outside of festivals, suburbanites don't come downtown to enjoy the day.
August 14, 200618 yr "Unfortunately Yeatman's Cove was quit which is noteworthy and a reminder that outside of festivals, suburbanites don't come downtown to enjoy the day." Or the citizens of Cincinnati!! With over 300,000 people in this city there are plenty of people to fill the parks outside of those festivals you mentioned; if they want too......unfortunatly the people of this city don't enjoy outside activities!!!
August 14, 200618 yr ^ There is more than one park in the city. Mt. Storm, Mt. Airy, Burnet Woods, Alm's, Ault & Eden Park are all usually filled with people. Just because a riverfront park isn't filled with people doesn't hold too much weight but like I said it was noteworthy.

August 14, 200618 yr If you want to go to cities were you won't see any people outside around the downtown in the summer just go to Houston, Dallas & Tampa. Their downtowns are horrid and dead.
August 14, 200618 yr byrnepj, you're crazy. How often do you actually ever go to the riverfront? Monte, beautiful and colorful shots! ... (as always) ;)
August 14, 200618 yr Love the Yeatman Cove photos. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
August 14, 200618 yr As for the park system....Cincy essentially has a park system built for 400-500,000. Therefore, you will have times that they might seem underused, but I have never heard anyone before claim that the Cincinnati Park System is underused by its citizens...considered to be one of the best park systems around!
September 13, 200816 yr HAHA, I'm in the old thread bumping mood. But I keep finding cool old photos... I thought this might be a good shot to Photoshop QCS into....I'll tool around with it next week on campus, but I'm curious if it'll fit.
September 17, 200816 yr Wait, didn't the bridge climb close awhile ago? My personal favorite from this set: http://www.pbase.com/cincyimages/image/65091527/original.jpg

What in God's name are you talking about?! You are the fool from City-Data that stated Findlay Market was a poor market, aren't you?
September 17, 200816 yr If you ask me, he is your alter-ego. He even has the same name as you. That is sooooooooo scary! Faceoff: Cincinnatus vs. Cinncinnatus
September 18, 200816 yr Yeah, I really have no clue what you're talking about. .. that`s the problem of the americans.. they don`t know anything .. go to European and have a look in all this nice big city`s .. full .. full .... each evening this cities are full .. it makes fun to walk down town there but in america .. it is awfull .. only NewYork ist nice... but Cincinnti is very very awfull ..
September 18, 200816 yr Yeah, I really have no clue what you're talking about. .. that`s the problem of the americans.. they don`t know anything .. go to European and have a look in all this nice big city`s .. full .. full .... each evening this cities are full .. it makes fun to walk down town there but in america .. it is awfull .. only NewYork ist nice... but Cincinnti is very very awfull ... They're referring to your lack of context. Your point is clear about planning and urban design not being what it is in Europe...I'm not sure anyone would argue that fact. This thread is about the photos posted above, and not your random/out of left field criticisms of planning in Cincinnati and the United States as a whole.

Try go trolling on urban Czechoslovakia...
September 18, 200816 yr The fact that he can't spell Cincinnatus right is telling. Oh, got my months mixed up, haha sorry.
September 18, 200816 yr Try go trolling on urban Czechoslovakia... I can't tell if that is a joke since you didn't use a emoticon. Czechoslovakia doesn't exist, it was separated back into the two countries of the Czech Republic & Slovakia. The Czech Republic is home to Prague which is one of the coolest cities in the world. ] .. that`s the problem of the americans.. they don`t know anything .. go to European and have a look in all this nice big city`s .. full .. full .... each evening this cities are full .. it makes fun to walk down town there but in america .. it is awfull .. So Cinncinnatus, please humore me, what county are you from? Are you from Deutschland? If so what city are you from? You are using a Cincinnati Bell email address so do you live in Cincinnati now?
September 18, 200816 yr Czechoslovakia doesn't exist, .. lol .. you are smart .. yes .. I know .. you know European .. .. lol So Cinncinnatus, please humore me, what county are you from? Are you from Deutschland? .. yes .. you are very smart .. .. so I know the world .. and now I`m in Cincinnati ... and I want to discover Cincinnati .. it`s a very nice old City .. with very nice old buildings (for the US ... lol) .. there are only a handfull of nice cities in the US .. . I saw your picture from Germany.. great ... it`was the first time for you ? .. do you want to go back to European ? .. I have been in the "castle for sleepy beauty" in Mecklenburg two month ago .. very very nice .. I have to learn to put pictures in this room here .... have a nice day .. .. friends sorry if you find some mistakes in my english ... I speek 3 languages .. but only one without any mistakes .. lol lol lol :-D :-D :-D :-D
September 18, 200816 yr Cinncinnatus, glad you found this forum and I'm glad you think the city is beautiful, but don't come to UrbanOhio expecting to trash the city and not expect shit from other members without offering constructive criticism or actions on your part to local officials who control the problems you might see. Cincinnati government is doing a tremendous job and we have seen development into the billions with planned development, development under construction, or development recently finished during their term. We have also seen positive changes with crime rates and population gains. You trying to compare Europe (not European) to the US (RE: history, architecture, etc) is like me trying to compare Cincinnati to New York City, it's ridiculous.
September 18, 200816 yr Cincinnati government is doing a tremendous job .. do you believe this .. really ?? .. .. sorry .. you have to read the Cincinnati Enquirer ..
September 18, 200816 yr is like me trying to compare Cincinnati to New York City, it's ridiculous. .. sorry .. why .. both are big cities ...
September 18, 200816 yr Cincinnati government is doing a tremendous job .. do you believe this .. really ?? .. .. sorry .. you have to read the Cincinnati Enquirer .. I presented ways in which I thought they were, how about you tell me how they are not?
September 18, 200816 yr Cinncinnatus, the broken English is understandable but I am surprised you keep using European over Europe to represent the continent. Anyway I have been to Germany 4 times, great country and the people were very friendly. You still haven't told us what city you are from in Germany? Anyway if you are looking for the European experience in the US, the closest thing we have is Boston. New York is our largest city but for walkable pedestrian friendly cities, New York, Chicago, Boston & San Francisco can all hold their own. We don't have many "walkplatz" in the US. Anyway, what brings you from Germany to Cincinnati? Also are you aware that Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is this weekend? You can usually find Erdinger, Spaten & Warsteiner biergartens there. I recommend you visit the Schmidt's booth for some fantastic Brats. The Helmut's booth makes some of the best strudel & pretzels you will find in America.
September 18, 200816 yr Cinncinnatus, the broken English is understandable . .. sorry about this .. You still haven't told us what city you are from in Germany? .. Frankfurt am Main .. HQ fore PG .. lol Boston. New York .. yes and I know .. Seattle, Las vegas, Utah, Arizona, and and and Also are you aware that Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is this weekend? .. yes .. I will be there ... with my camera .. if you want , if you have time .. I can invite you for a dinner .. lol
September 18, 200816 yr I have been to Germany 4 times, great country and the people were very friendly. ... I sawe your pictures from Germany ... and the ICE #2 in Köln Hauptbahnhof .. lol .. you ever used this train ? speed over 200 miles per hours !!!!!!!!! absolut perfect ....
September 18, 200816 yr LOL, so you are the one that posted those comments in my galleries. No I did not ride on the Köln Hauptbahnhof but I have been on the Eurail from Amsterdam to Brussels and Paris to Brussels. The route from Paris to Brussels went around 200 KPH. Sadly our country chooses to invest in roads and automobiles instead of high speed rail. So are you living in Cincinnati now or just visiting on business. If so are you living Downtown or in the suburbs? I am sure you are aware of our Hofbrauhaus in Newport but I find the Schmidthaus in Columbus to be a great alternative plus they have Paulaner Hefeweizen on draft (Entwurf?). http://www.schmidthaus.com/
September 18, 200816 yr LOL, so you are the one that posted those comments in my galleries. .. lol .. the ICE # 2 .. lol So are you living in Cincinnati now or just visiting on business. If so are you living Downtown or in the suburbs? .. business ... since one year .. how long .. ask Pack & Go .. (PG .. lol ) we also lived in Switzerland >Geneva< for 4 years .. I am sure you are aware of our Hofbrauhaus in Newport but I find the Schmidthaus in Columbus to be a great alternative plus they have Paulaner Hefeweizen on draft (Entwurf?). .. I don´t know where this is .. .. oohh it`s in Columbus, Ohio 43216 .... I have found .. (Entwurf ? ) .. lol .. lol ... draft .. vom Faß ... but US-beer is not German-beer .. of our Hofbrauhaus in Newport .. where is this .. in Newport Kentucky ?? .. that`s nice .. very close ..
September 18, 200816 yr of our Hofbrauhaus in Newport .. where is this .. in Newport Kentucky ?? .. that`s nice .. very close .. http://www.hofbrauhausnewport.com/ draft .. vom Faß ... but US-beer is not German-beer .. While I agree, I have been to the Hofbräuhaus in München and the Dunkel at Hofbräuhaus in Newport is pretty close to authentic German beer. From my understanding the pasteurization of our beers kills the flavor.
