August 27, 201212 yr Jake, Do you have any video of the Blue Ash Council scolding Finney(even though he wasn't there to hear it)?
August 27, 201212 yr A comment on Chairman Brinkman's article in the Fishwarp got this comment: "COAST and that idiotic Cappel that is banned from the Blue Ash Rec. Center for inappropriate comments made to women should clean up their own house first!" Anybody know it this is true? I assumed COA Ters would all go to private country clubs rather than squander taxpayer money..... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120824/EDIT02/308240134/The-Big-Lie-from-Blue-Ash? That comment was made by Julie Matheny, who is the Executive Director of the Springdale Chamber of Commerce. She is also a frequent subject of Jeff Capell's attacks on his blog, whose address I won't print. It will be interesting to learn more about this story. Between Matheny's comment regarding the incident(s) at the Blue Ash Rec Center and the rantings on Capell's blog, we can surmise that the guy has some major issues regarding women. Just tonight there were several extremely distasteful comments made about Kate Crossen on that blog. Kate has been another frequent target of attacks on that site, to the point that it seems she's being stalked by a real creep. COAST only further discredits itself (if that's possible) by allowing a nutter like Jeff Capell to be involved with their group and turning him into one of their core poster boys.
August 27, 201212 yr No, I don't have any footage of city council because my cell phone's card filled up right at the end of Finney's clip. What was funny was they announced 5 minutes for each speaker, but Finney was over the time limit (I could tell by watching the timer on the phone), and I was about to yell "5 minutes!" myself, which would have caused a scene. I do have 5 minutes of Mary Kuhl and 5 minutes of someone else that I'll post at some point.
August 27, 201212 yr ^Mary Kuhl of Westwood. Yet another non-resident of Blue Ash expressing their outrage at how Blue Ash governs its own city.
August 27, 201212 yr Maybe Kuhl can convince her neighborhood to reject any money that comes it's way from this revised sale.
August 27, 201212 yr I like this letter: Blue Ash doesn’t deserve C.O.A.S.T.’s criticism Why is it people who do not live in Blue Ash feel compelled to bash and slander our council people? Is it that hard to believe that because they all run unopposed that they can’t be excellent council people who are looking out for the best interest of the residents of Blue Ash? I have lived here for over 43 years and have voted for the current council people every time. Why? Just look at what Blue Ash has to offer: One of the finest recreation facility’s in the country, named one of the most desirable community’s in which to raise a family, all because the council people represent the citizens of Blue Ash, unlike our representives in Washington. I feel that they are doing what is in our best interest and not what some outsider thinks they should do in their best interest. Our council people do not lie to us. Tom Brinkman of C.O.A.S.T., you have no standing to request that they answer your questions. I may not always go along with everything they do, but I always believe they are doing what is in our community’s best interests. So please keep your nose out of our business and tend to your own community. Maybe then you won’t be so jealous of our community. Kenneth Van Horn Blue Ash http://cincinnati.com/blogs/letters/2012/08/27/blue-ash-doesnt-deserve-c-o-a-s-t-s-criticism/
August 28, 201212 yr Mary Kuhl: At least Kuhl dressed up to address Council so to present a professional appearance and be taken seriously.
August 28, 201212 yr Ha, I was thinking the same thing. Mary got all gussied up in her Sunday-go-to-meeting clothes, didn't she? :-D

August 29, 201212 yr I modified and retweeted a TOAST tweet from this evening: RT @GOCOAST: Let ODOT know Streetcars are answer to Ohio's transportation needs! Statewide Planning survey: http://po.st/peQLU I wasn't even aware that ODOT was conducting a survey. Many thanks to the Machiavellian geniuses at TOAST for letting all of us progressives, urbanists, socialists and Streetcar supporters know about the big ODOT survey!!!  Be sure to take the survey and pass it along to a friend.

September 26, 201212 yr COAST Loses Fight to End Ohio Elections Commission 'Barrett said that if COAST had admitted it planned to lie it might have a better case.' http://www.citybeat.com/cincinnati/blog-3974-coast_loses_fight_to_end_ohio_elections_commission.html
October 11, 201212 yr COA T has issued their endorsements for the November elections. surprise - it looks just like a Republican party line ballot. and for you folks who contend COA T is libertarian - note there are no Libertarians on their list. They oppose Issue 2 as any current Rebloodlican would and Cincinnati Issue 4 which would result in less government spending & make politicians more accountable (2 things COA T claims are needed)
October 12, 201212 yr A lot of NGOs that claim generalities such as "cutting government spending" really only know about directly cutting the few things that they've actually taken the time to learn anything about.
November 1, 201212 yr Cincy schools sued, again "Cincinnati Public Schools is being sued–again– for allegedly misusing funds for campaign purposes. No, not the presidential campaign, the CPS levy campaign. The district has a renewal levy on Tuesday’s ballot. The lawsuit, filed by the Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending and Taxes includes multiple allegations that district workers were using their work e-mail accounts for campaign purposes. It cites e-mails (attached to the complaint as exhibits) that it obtained through public records requests in which school employees discuss or arrange voter registration drives, Levy Day sign-ups and campaign contributions. “Ronan and CPS need to understand and respect that they are a public body and must refrain from misusing public funds for political purposes,” COAST states on its web site." How does this constitute spending money? If the district had provided email addresses specifically to be used for campaigning then I could see that as illegal. It doesn't seem like is costing the school district any money.
November 1, 201212 yr This is just like their dumass suit against councilwoman Quinlivan where the city IT department figured she owed something like 37 cents. Of course auditing the amount owed cost a lot more. mudslinging - it's all those tunaheads are good for.

November 2, 201212 yr I wonder if Chris Finney would sue me if I said I hope he develops an incurable, painful rectal itch.
November 2, 201212 yr I wonder if Chris Finney would sue me if I said I hope he develops an incurable, painful rectal itch. Now you've done it. Chris Smitherman and COAST told Bill Cunningham he will collect signatures to ban you from city limits for 10 years without a vote

December 5, 201212 yr Kathy Wilson discusses the local alliance of COA T & NA CP, or more to the point the Chris & Chris show. " In the case of Smitherman and the NAACP and Finney and COAST, there is something more jakey afoot than what they’ve been trying to convince us is an over-taxed governmental abuse of power since they’ve been in cahoots." http://www.citybeat.com/cincinnati/article-26705-black_tea.html Meanwhile, they are justifying tax hikes by Rebloodlicans on the Hamilton county commission spin spin spin spin
December 6, 201212 yr Nothing else to really say. These guys are just *ssholes COAST @GOCOAST Good thing Cincinnati got rid of its subway boondoggle. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/nightmare_on_subway_tracks_GgvCtkeJj6cTeyxHns2VNP … Rail transit isn't just ridiculously expensive, it's deadly.
December 6, 201212 yr Yeah, about 10 people are killed every year on subways in the US, versus 40,000+ on the nation's roads. Hell, 600 are killed every year just on the emergency shoulders of the interstate highways.
December 28, 201212 yr My pet theory is that Mark Miller is still traumatized from not getting a model train set for Christmas as a kid, hence his unbridled hatred for anything train-related. As such, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the holidays are a particularly difficult time for him.
December 28, 201212 yr I can't imagine how pissed his wife & kids must be he's spending the whole holiday break bashing the city instead of with family.
December 28, 201212 yr I can't imagine how pissed his wife & kids must be he's spending the whole holiday break bashing the city instead of with family. Guarantee their sex life is non existent Coast just called for a ban of all "rail boondoggles" since another man was pushed in front of subway
December 28, 201212 yr Over 30,000 deaths per year in cars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_motor_vehicle_deaths_in_U.S._by_year
December 28, 201212 yr ^and that's down. Probably mostly due to better safety junk in cars, but I would imagine fewer miles traveled, electronic surveillance & increased mass transit ridership had a role in that.

December 29, 201212 yr Why does the enquirer continue to give this group any kind of credibility? Honestly, I'm concerned for mark millers mental health. He's literally going insane before our very eyes. Here's some of their tweets: @GOCOAST: Twice this month a murderer's weapon of choice was rail transit. http://t.co/NOlow0nq Why invite murder? Stop Cincy's streetcar boondoggle! @GOCOAST: Disturbed killer pushes man under subway train. http://t.co/2mKQC15P Mental health reform? Naw, we need a ban on rail transit boondoggles. @GOCOAST: 12.5% of Cincy firefighters browned out AGAIN to subsidize a streetcar boondoggle going nowhere. Local fiscal cliff worse than national one. @GOCOAST: Thankfully Cincy got rid of its subway boondoggle long ago. http://t.co/sfLUxil1 Rail's not only ridiculously expensive, it's deadly too.
December 29, 201212 yr He should be the editor of the National Enquirer if he can come up with headlines such as those.
August 9, 201311 yr From the CO site: Insolvency has consequences Seems like a topic those guys should know about...
August 14, 201311 yr Never thought I'd say this...But I completely agree with Eric Deters via facebook yesterday Eric Deters 16 hours ago CHRIS FINNEY- COAST Does anyone believe Chris Finney is all about government watchdog? I don’t. It’s always about his legal fees. I feel sorry for the guy. He must have so little legal business he has to make a living acting like he’s looking out for the taxpayer while “extorting” legal fees out of the taxpayer. What hypocrisy! The taxpayer always is stuck paying his fees. Why doesn’t he do for free? I fought the jail battle for free. That’s my opinion based upon what I observe and read.

August 15, 201311 yr CO seems like a parody of themselves. I'm not sure how any news outlet, politician, or rational person can honestly listen to them with any respect.

August 22, 201311 yr Apparently they are suing Seelbach? And they're about to sue the city again on Parking.
August 22, 201311 yr Has a month gone by when they haven't tried to sue the city and/or a councilperson for some frivolous reason? Chris Finney has bills to pay, and he has to rely on COAST's manufactured cases to collect his legal fees.
August 22, 201311 yr I think Seelbach might be CO 's new Schmidt. Can't beat him - better ruin him. Did they ever catch the guy who attacked Seelbach downtown?
August 22, 201311 yr I think it's personal because Seelbach worked on the campaign to overturn Article XII, which was Finney's first masterstroke. Also in my opinion Seelbach's not strong on TV or radio and that's where COAST is in its element.

I think this is a good article (despite the Enquirers best efforts to make the city look bad) as it really outs COAST for what it is - a small group of people lining their own pockets under the guise of a tea party group.
