How was that "VIP" party?

 

Jane Leeves is hot anywhere.

The VIP party was great - almost as great as having lunch with the gals after the event in Tower City ;-)

This is why I like to stay behind the keyboard... (maybe I should take some public speaking classes sometime)  I'm not the only person interviewed, but I do happen to be in the video's default frame. :roll:

After squatting in a disused power plant, spending my morning and mid-day photographing the largest abandonment in the US, it was time to... enjoy a beer at the Bluegrass Brewing Company in downtown Louisville!

I swear - and this is not meant to be offensive - but you don't look young enough to drink alcoholic beverages!  You look like a 15 YO sneaking a beer!

I have that problem ALOT at bars outside of Illinois.  I'm 27 but bouncers have thought I was 18.  Usually it's not an issue in Chicago since it's impossible to forge the Illinois drivers license, and my photo looks identical to me.

 

But I went back to Ann Arbor, MI once to visit and friends and young 20's age bouncer was like "yo dude this is a fake.  You look way too young to be 27.

 

I was offended not because this person thought I was too young, rather because I had gone off to grad school moved on to a different city and had a professional job for 2 years.  You just feel grown and to go back to some college town and think your pulling the kind of shenanigans a freshman college student would is insulting.

 

Anyway, I pulled out my passport since I was going to Canada the next day.  He said he didn't want to look at it and that I was being difficult, and the he would have to hold onto my drivers license!!

 

I couldn't just leave it there.  He asked me to stand aside for a moment while other people got through.  I then got my phone and dialed 311 and asked for the police non-emergency.  The bouncer immediately said "Okay fine, you don't have to be a dick about it" and then gave me my ID back.

 

When I got back, the bar/restaurant has an online comment form for complaints.  The place got back with me and apologized, gave me a discount for free appetizers but said they couldn't take any corrective action on this issue since they had already fired the guy for something else!!

I have a very special photo here...on the left is a recent photo of former UO overlord Grasscat (the first person to break 10,000 posts and before his retirement had been logged on for over 150 days).  This photo really illustrates the special bond shared by any two people who have worked at the same Kentucky Fried Chicken:

Probably a little bit of going to the gym, and then spending three 10-hour days of holding up my camera and toting gear around a tradeshow and yeah, the way my arms are folded probably helped. And it's all good - I didn't take it as being hit on :-)

 

One thing I noticed after the photo was taken - you would think they'd line up the points of the horseshoe on the 50 yard line, but it was a bit off kilter?  :wtf:
