December 8, 200618 yr It wasn't too bad - 20 books in 2 days - the weather didn't help but there was decent foot traffic. No security cam or tripod, my boyfriend took the photo. :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
December 13, 200618 yr coldayman, be nice! but he does look different then usual though, but he certainly doesn't look 12!

December 14, 200618 yr It wasn't too bad - 20 books in 2 days - the weather didn't help but there was decent foot traffic. I bet if you wore the $4.98 pants....... coldayman, be nice! but he does look different then usual though, but he certainly doesn't look 12! He looks like he just celebrated his 18 b-day. God, I wish I had your skin! To maintain that skin tone, I wonder if MayDay is sucking the blood of virgins?
December 14, 200618 yr Don't be ridiculous - just a weekly once-over with a belt sander and of course, occasional moisturizer! :-D "Well, you ain't a Jew..." As much as I absolutely love watching "The Nanny", it's true. Then again, I reeeally liked the made-for-TV movie about Martha Stewart! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
December 15, 200618 yr At my book signing at the Arcade: Congrats on the book. I love these book series, and have often wanted to do one myself. How easy are they to do? Did you provide original photograhy?
December 15, 200618 yr I don't care for humiliation. I'm ColDayMan. I run this joint. I feel like P. Diddy in his MySpace blog...posting pictures in the bathroom... "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

December 15, 200618 yr "Congrats on the book. I love these book series, and have often wanted to do one myself. How easy are they to do? Did you provide original photograhy?" Thank you - honestly, it was a lot of work. The only images I didn't provide were from vintage postcards. The majority of the work came from researching the lesser-known buildings. It's easy to come up with material for the major buildings but the little out-of-the-way buildings don't offer much. Also, it was hard for me to work in Microsoft Word - I've been using Quark for almost 15 years and I would have preferred to do the layout myself, but it wasn't an option. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

You've got to be kidding me. I can't believe a publishing company wants you to work in Word. I can imagine it's a lot of work. But you should be proud. I have both the books on Middletown, and never get tired of looking at them. I bought my dad one on Detroit and need to dig it out next time I'm home. Any of the photography your own?
December 15, 200618 yr "MS Word?? You've got to be kidding me. I can't believe a publishing company wants you to work in Word." The reasoning behind it is that most of their authors are older, retired, and working in groups of two or three and Word is generally the most widely used (and most familiar). They've set up their workflow so that authors simply type the captions for each photo, present a mockup of the layout and their designers do the rest. They weren't used to an author who has been in the design business as long as I have. All of the photography is mine :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
December 15, 200618 yr Wow -- Impressive. I'll see if I can pick up a copy online since I rarely get to Cleveland.
December 16, 200618 yr The pope has used it as well. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
December 16, 200618 yr Yes, the Pope has used it as well, but uhmmm, why was it just used here by MayDay? Is it because preservationrestoration is buying his book online and not from him directly????? I've never heard of Quark, used Microsoft Word for a long time and before that I used Word Perfect, but that was when computers personal home computers were new to the scene and the font was determined not by the program itself but by your printers capability. Now I have heard of a Quark, as a matter of fact, i have many of those.
December 16, 200618 yr I stumbled upon a picture of ColDayMan here :-D I must go and hide now. LMAO!!! I just now found this. It's hilarious! Cleveland does suck!
December 16, 200618 yr Now I have heard of a Quark, as a matter of fact, i have many of those. Quark is so 2002. Adobe InDesign CS is the new standard for page layout. I'm not at all surprised the publisher prefers Word for the manuscript. It's a solid, universal program with the most up-to-date word processing tools. I can't think of any other application I'd want to import text from. I haven't seen Wordperfect in active use in the advertising/publishing industry since 1998. Now, if someone told me Arcadia was composing the book in Word, then I'd definitely say they're on crazy pills.
December 17, 200618 yr Does anyone know how to convert AppleWorks (.cwk) files to Word? Specifically, I wrote some stuff on my old computer which didn't have Word and Word can't open them.
December 17, 200618 yr My French Friend Clement and I in Italy a couple of summers ago. Sadly, this may be the best picture of me ever taken.
December 22, 200618 yr Here's me at home for the holidays, just after I cut my hair. Don't judge. I'm not pissed, just trying to concentrate on the camera lens through a mirror.
December 22, 200618 yr You're looking rather green. And angular. And road sign-ish. Ah, never mind. Your pic popped up finally. Everyone else is sharing. Here's me with some politician (again):

December 28, 200618 yr "Some politician..." Gah! John Conyers has been in congress now for what, 40 years? If he isn't the Democrat with the most seniority in the House, then he's damn close...fought Clinton's impeachment tooth-and-nail...let's see, quick bio check...Korean War veteran, founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, served on the Judiciary Committee during Watergate, and was the guy behind the Violence Against Women Act and the Motor Voter Bill... "Some politician..." Dude, that picture needs to be frickin' framed...
