DocBroc is smoking hot AND she's a Ph.D in Science?! What, did I step into some sort of alternate, parallel universe? :?

That's a nice picture; it does look like a J. Crew ad lol

Where was that taken?

Shows what you know!  Most geeks are hot :-D!  And, the picture was taken outside the Jewel Box in Forest Park in St. Louis.

I must work with the Dorks and Dweebs then because there is nobody around here with a Ph.D looking nearly as good as you Doc! Cute picture.

All the talk of Doc Broc's engagement got me thinking. No engagement pictures but a random picture from my wedding in 2003. We were married at the Rose garden Pavillion at Mill Creek park in Youngstown. I am the stout fellow on the left tipping the scales at 230 lb. Normally I am around 200 lbs, nothing like having to look at fat wedding pictures for the rest of your life. Oy!

Female minister?  I like.  And your wife looks very pretty.  And you don't look 230.

United Methodist Church of Berea. She rocked. Very Cool lady unfortunately she moved.

Oh if you could have seen the honeymoon pics. Boardshorts and a meat sweater. Not cool. Fortunately (or unfortunately) we lost all but one of the disposable cameras that we took with us to Mexico.

This is one of our engagement pictures. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was "How did we end up in a JCrew ad?"

Was the second thing you thought of, "How could I make my future husband hold a purple polka dot umbrella?"

Yeah you dont look 230.  How tall are you?  The wedding looks like it was held in a beautiful setting.

That's his payback for not doing enough housework, hahahaha.

^I love Mill Creek Park, I considered proposing to my wife there.

It's a bargain for a wedding too. A permit is somewhere between 100 and 200 dollars.

That must have been the happiest day of your life. I like seeing wedding pictures; they put me in a good mood.

I'd post a pic of my wedding day, but it was 96 degrees with a heat index of over 100, and we got married at Silver's Temple on 105, which isn't air conditioned. I looked like I was at the schvitz (and no it wasn't nerves. Not mostly anyway...). I mopped up before the pics, but nobody told me that I had a sweat-induced ringlet hanging down over my forehead. I looked like a circa 1988 Siouxsie Sioux (google it, youngsters)

Doc got the future Mr. to hold the polka-dot umbrella, because I imagine he knows what's good for him. One thing I learned those many years ago is that hell hath no fury as the bride to be scorned!

Wow, sounds like my cousins wedding at Immaculate Conception in Youngstown. High 90's no AC, the bridal party ran outside immediately after the ceremony was over to sit in the AC in the limo and chug beers to cool off. They had to be conned back into the church for pictures.

Actually quite the opposite, lol.  He doesn't dote over me at all.  We're a weird couple, don't mind us.  Anyway, I tried to find a plain clear umbrella just in case of rain, and I did at Target, but it was too big to fit in my suitcase.  And then the weather was supposed to be good in St. Louis, and I had too many appointments to go to Target there, and then it rained.........  So, yeah, purple polka-dot umbrella it was.  He was not happy, but we didn't have much choice....  Besides, it coordinated with our outfits anyway :-D  And most of the pictures were actually taken inside the Jewel Box, so only about 10% of them actually involve the umbrella.  Anyway, wedding is 9 months from today.  Hopefully no purple polka-dot umbrellas need be involved.

It could have been a Coors Light umbrella.

FYI this happened just hours after an urbanohio meetup.  The debates can get ugly!  I have a before the accident photo too that would probably launch a ton of bad commentary.  :-D

Let me guess - Chicago vs. Cleveland debate? or Chicago vs. Columbus?

^^ Jeez bro, what happened? Auto accident? Get jumped? Fall?

^^ Jeez bro, what happened? Auto accident? Get jumped? Fall?

He was stalking me when I left Barney's on the way back to the Park Hyatt.  I had to put an old school Cleveland beatdown on NorthAndre!

:whip:

That'll learn him!

Actually, MTS ran away screaming when he saw the blood...er well it did shock quite a few people.  Oak Street was in full swing that evening and coming back to my place entirely covered in blood was not a pretty sight.

It's not the first time I've been asked so I come prepared.  The sketch speaks for itself.  Overcompensated and my head hit the steel column

That sketch is quite sad.

Yet hilarious?

Ouch, that must have sucked so bad.  Glad you're ok!

Isn't that column painted or zebra-striped to get cyclists' attention?

I think there are industrial padding materials that could be used to minimize injuries, too.

Over the past few years, I have started taking 'cartwheeling' pictures wherever I travel.  Here is a sample of some of those.

I'm flattered.

Your rendering looks more cool though. Glad you're recovering from that accident.

Thanks, yeah I could give you the rendering thing for sketch-up if you want.

Rob, there's yellow X's painted on the obstructions.  They also paint over areas of damaged pavement.  The document below shows the flyover bypass that will correct the bridge problem.  The current issue is that sidewalks cannot be widened because there are large limestone and concrete bridge towers on each side.  They will create openings in the towers to allow people to pass through, which should be really cool.  I also think they should open up one of the towers to the public for photo taking so people don't stop and then back up into traffic to get the shot.

I love how urban design software makes it so easy to show people visuals of what you're talking about. We should have a thread dedicated to funny models. Maybe we could send PMs to people who might have done or could do something similar to prove some sort of point about faulty design or idiots like "Pete". I think it would be an interesting thread; what do you guys think?

If they procrastinate on doing something about that obstruction soon, you should present or submit that model to the city planning agency and various community organizations to show people the real danger (along with your face shot from the aftermath). I'm positive that if there were a road obstruction of relative danger it would be something they would take care of much sooner but bikers are a minority and if most people don't use it, it's not going to be a priority. It's pretty sad such an obstacle even exists. For now, I hope they at least put up a couple caution signs.

BTW, how did you face clear up like that? It looks like you would have been scarred for life!

Come on, MTS, what the hell is "sweeling"? I thought you were the upper-crust of Communications at Time Warner? You need to step your game up or at least use spell check :-P

He must just be resilient. He'll still be getting those good-looking-guy discounts at stores like he did when we went to Toronto! B@stard lol

Well, I've used tons of anti-scarring creams, but the face naturally heals faster than the rest of the body.  The abrasions on my cheek scabbed and fell away within 4 days of it happening.

I like the idea of a thread with crazy models to describe things.  I'd love to create renderings of sh!t that drives me nuts.
