They're actually thinking about switching to semesters so we can have a 4-day fall break during Halloween to eliminate much of the partying.

That's what UD did with St. Patrick's Day...put Spring Break over St. Patty's days so no students are on campus

With all this said, OU is still easily Ohio's biggest party school

Yes, because every night at OSU is sooooo quiet and boring...

Since I'm not using my major I wish I would have partied more.  CSU isn't a party school.

Wait, are people seriously disputing what the biggest party school in the state is? Honestly?

case western comes in last!

even behind some ultra conservative religious dealie (do we have one of those in the state?)

kent state thursdays are quite a blast.

the university suffers a bit through weekends, since nearly every student lives 40 minutes away.

But hey, at least someone at OSU is questioning this, not someone at a school like Kent State or Miami.

Kent State is one of the only schools I thought would be a contender against OU.

^I'd disagree. Kent just doesn't do the "seven nights a week" thing like you see in Athens. It also doesn't have the fests, the massive bar district, or the overall vibe of a place like Athens. Kent has some good house parties and bars, sure, but that's the norm at every university. The house party scene is a part of any college experience. To be a true "party college," you have to have ridiculous "fests," and a relentless (busy every night but Sunday), oversized bar district at the core. Kids need to be able to walk EVERYWHERE, and the main streets should have 24-hour partying. Athens fits the profile best since it excells in every party category- bar district, house parties, festivals.

Kent's Halloween is actually supposed to be bigger than OU's, so I don't know about your theory ;)

Haha. I know a girl that goes to McGill. It's like Canada's Harvard. I'm gonna fly up there some time this year. Only a few hundred bucks to fly to Montreal :] I'll be sure to take pictures since my new digital camera is coming in the mail soon :]

No, I'd imagine Case would beat out Cedarville for general partying...which is almost like saying the nano technology research done at Lakeland Community College is superior to the nanotech done at Cincinnati State...

No Cincinnati Love for partying schools?? I have been to Kent state, OSU, BG, and OU for extended stays and here is how i would rank them.

1. OU - i went for halloween

2. tie OSU and UC - they both have a great nightlife outside of the area directly around them. They both go pretty crazy throughout the week. I will never forget "liquid dope" night at, is it 4 kegs? I also am a fan of the pub crawls at UC, also i have never seen a longer line to get into a college bar,on a tuesday, than at uncle woody's on greek night. At both schools they are just "normal college students" who want to get drunk when they have nothing else to do...just like almost ALL other colleges in the nation

3. BG - GREAT BARS!!!! i agree with previous posts that JUNCTION is the ****!

Maybe we can see if Bob Jones University can open up a branch campus to bump Case up in the ranks.

"^I know Kent can party when it wants to, but it just doesn't have anything like Court Street in Athens, Main Street in Bowling Green, or High Street in Columbus."

Of course not - Kent's largely a commuter school (though that's changed a little since I attended). Most Kent students I knew didn't bother with the tripe of Kent "college bars" as they catered too much to underagers and the greek scene (Rays Place is a notable exception). If we wanted to go out, we usually went out in either Akron or Cleveland.

1. Wisconsin

2. UC - Santa Barbara

3. Arizona State University

4. Indiana University

5. San Diego State University

6. Florida State University

7. Ohio University

8. University of Georgia

9. University of Tennessee

10. McGill University (Canada)

Speaking of said list, I'm surprised LSU dropped out of the top 10 completely.

Yet.

Basically, I win.

I graduated and liked Kent State, but it ain't one of the better party schools, in my opinion. The only one acceptable to me would be OSU.

When I was living in Kentucky people said Case-Western had a real good engineering school.  I don't know if that's true or not.

For community colleges, Sinclair here in Dayton is supposed to be pretty good.  They have a lot of tech training programs.

its generally its most respected area, though its dental, nursing and medical schools are well regarded also.

I had always heard that back before every college kid had a car to go home on the weekends with, Kent was a big party school.  Of course, that's ancient history.  Now it's a suitcase college.

Well, I'm pretty square, so I it's possible I went to the most bumpin' school in Ohio and not even known it. It's possible =)
